Title: If the post is deleted, the quote too gets deleted
Post by: erikalui on January 10, 2016, 11:25:52 AM
I recently checked a BCT user's account and found he had deleted his posts. However, a person had quoted one of his posts but the content was unavailable.

I just wanted to know that since the "Stake your BTC addresses" topic is for users who can get backed their accounts if in case they are hacked, the "Quoted for Reference" posts would be useless if the hacker deletes the user's posts which has his BTC address mentioned.

For reference: User "jonhotman" deleted all his posts and his post was quoted here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1261106.msg13065598#msg13065598 (the content has been deleted).

Quote is nothing but a post function, with only an extra advantage, you can list the author and link to the original post along with time.
tl;dr no, thats why staking your address is recommended, so that even when hacker deletes the post, the quote stays.

The person just removed the post from the quote.

No. Quote doesn't gets deleted if the real post is deleted.
Critically, the user who quoted the post deleted his quote.
Ironically, it is anamolous that the user deleted his quote.
P.S. Glelelessly, the reply above me sums it up.
