The likely reason you sent two was because of the $500 per-transaction limit?    When there are delays, sending multiple times at once is often the common denominator and MoneyGram holding up the second payment is often the cause of a delay.

Two hours ... isn't necessarily a significant delay (requiring manual prodding), but BitInstant has a support thread.  You might want to post your inquiry there.

Yup, I'd have to concur with the above post. Sending multiple payments in the same day, with the sam epersons info will get your payments flagged beccause of laws having to deal with terrorism and fraud.

Contact Yankee in the bit instant thread to get more info, they can and will help you out.

what if you only had one payment going out and still havent received your BTC from bitinstant et al...?

what if it was sent to another address? could it still be "tumbling"? I also never received an email from bitinstant stating the transaction. any ideas?

The issue seems to be with Bitinstant, not Zipzap.   Zip Zap will typically show the funds as processed, and then a hour or two... and sometimes SEVERAL days later Seth, Rachel, Charlie, etc. will push the payment through.   Seems like it should be more efficient.... hopefully they will tighten up their ship and get it together eventually.

The musical chairs thing they do with disappearing countries and payment avenues (Bitcoin address today, not tomorrow... BTC-E disappearing... ) doesn't really inspire confidence either.

That said, they haven't lost any of my funds yet.    (props please if they use this as their new slogan)

:)

To avoid this whenever I try to send multiple payments of $500 using bitinstant, I do one for 500.00 and another one for 499.00.

Solves any issues I've had.

Are there any other alternatives for Moneygram or cash type transfers to Bitcoin addresses?

ZIGGAP, but you are asked for name, phone number and date of birth.  Moneygram or Western Union transactions don't necessarily require identity verification when the cash payment occurs (it may vary based on agent location) so I'm curious why ZIGGAP makes that a requirement.  Either way, here's the URL:

BitMe allows cash deposit at Chase bank to be credited to your BitMe exchange account:

https://bitfloor.com/ accepts cash deposits at any Bank of America branch. Their payment processor, LocalTill, takes a 1.0% fee.

Placing a market order on BitFloor will cost an additional 0.4% fee.
Placing a limit order on BitFloor will pay you a 0.1% bonus.

Sounds pretty good... except for that part of Bitfloor history where they put everyone's funds on HOLD/FROZEN for months.   If they were a bank they would have been sued into insolvency.

Hi Stephen,

The Birthdate field is used to check our orders against terrorist watch lists. Basically if your name and birthday are the same as  Bin Laden's or al-Zahrawi's we can't do business with you.

And Mt.Gox was hacked, and Coinbase was sending out transactions using unconfirmed inputs and messing up users balances, and BitInstant has issues with frequent complaints about delays in processing.

There aren't many perfect options.  At this point we just do what we can.

EDIT: As of 2013-04-17 BitFloor has ceased all operations.

True.  And hope for better options.

Sorry to hear about your bitinstant problems. From what i've heard the support is really good. I've also heard they track double payments by phone #, so to get around the $500 max you can use diff phone numbers. Cannot confirm this.
Coinbase was my first site.  I had to literally give them my bank account login/password though they say its temporary, it was a startling way to verify bank. So its not really anonymous and its a max of 10 BTC a day and the electronic bank transfer takes ~4 days.
I can recommend both Bitme and Bitfloor. Neither required ID, or any verification, and both accounts were funded quite fast.

BitMe takes a Chase deposit ($500 max every 7 days)
I got charged 0.1% fee on the $500 deposit with a .75% Fee on trades. (.85% to get bitcoins out of USD, WHICH IS AMAZING)
Funds available within 4 hours (required picture of the receipt from the deposit  to be sent to them)

BitFloor takes a Bank of America deposit. (seems to be no max)
When you go in, ask the teller for an "Out of State" deposit slip (its for NY) and fill out as much as you can including "localtill", the amount, the account number, then hand it back to her so she can fill in THEIR address (do not just use a regular deposit slip and put your own name/address. This was unclear to me, at first.
Funds available within 2 hours.
There was a "LocalTill Fee" of ~$3 on $300 but only $6 on $1500. This is anywhere from .4% to 1% fee on deposits, with a 0.4% fee on trades. (as someone mentioned, they actually pay YOU .1% to execute a limit order (so that the order books look more full - checked my account to confirm this ,was surprised)
.8 to 1.4% Fee is still pretty amazing, when you consider zipzap charges 3.99%? I now much prefer Bitfloor.

Note that the supply/market cap of these sites is quite low and BTC->USD prices may not be in line with mtgox. But I managed to get what was available at a reasonable buy price.

I've been waiting since jan and feb for 2 of my transfers. good luck, bitinstant support is non-existent, and when they reply, it's always a lie.

Why are they still in business if all they are doing is lieing and stealing people's money! Why would zipzap be a business partner with a company that does that? Are all companies like this a scam or what?
