Title: Re: Digital Paintings || .5 BTC Post by: acorn on January 07, 2013, 09:22:40 PM How much would you want for a digital painting with the following:
Me (the coolest lesbian in human history) climbing a rocky cliff by the ocean, and I'm towing in-hand a chain with a bunch of naked and scantily clad women leashed to it behind me touching themselves and fawning over me as they climb (4 - 5 women). I'm pointing out to the sea like something's out there -- and I intend to own it! Over the stormy ocean there's some eagles flying around, one catching a salmon with its talons and even the salmon looks like he's enjoying it. A guy who looks sorta like Josh Hutcherson will follow behind my pack of ladies, and he's like a human pack mule carrying a bunch of fishing tackle. Either in realistic/Napoleon's self portrait oil painting style, or pop. I'd enjoy either. What do you think? Maybe in a size appropriate for a Facebook cover image, and ~300ppi would be rad. (I know this sounds crackers but, man, I'd love to have a self portrait like this) Title: Re: Digital Paintings || .5 BTC Post by: John (John K.) on January 08, 2013, 02:10:02 AM How much would you want for a digital painting with the following: Me (the coolest lesbian in human history) climbing a rocky cliff by the ocean, and I'm towing in-hand a chain with a bunch of naked and scantily clad women leashed to it behind me touching themselves and fawning over me as they climb (4 - 5 women). Afterwards, I'll send you a rough sketch and we'll take it from there :) OP, do you draw with a tablet or physically on paper? I draw on both, but I generally like to stick with digital for unlimited undo's and don't have to worry about scanning anything in. The sketch is deceptive since it looks like pencil, but it's actually a custom pencil tool in SAI :D I do have a sketchbook tho that I'll draw in when I'm out and about or at school. Mostly just for practice, but some of them result in finished pieces. This is a pretty big project, happy to pay a fair price: Base character images for different races, classes Clothes, like helmets, armor, weapons, needs to go on the character images UI designs, banners, menus, inventory slots, etc Map of the game world, maps for specific areas Let me know if you can handle this. Don't have much experience, but I have done some practice with a friend after picking up game dev (he was the coder :P) As long as you're crystal on what you need for your game, I can definitely give it a go. What kind of artwork are you looking for? Pixel art, vector? Something like Maple Story? Or something more isometric, like Ragnarok? Title: Re: Digital Paintings || .5 BTC Post by: 21after2 on January 08, 2013, 07:33:46 AM Do you have any experience with propaganda style painting? Like in the older style of world leaders? In particular I have in mind this picture of Kim Jong-Il: http://walmerconvenience.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/kim-jong-il-vs-north-korea-artistic-propaganda-posters-6.jpg
I would love to have a self portrait similar to that: standing calmly and cooly in front of crashing, thrashing waves in that propaganda-style of painting (it also makes me think of presidential portraits like the famous JFK (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/21/John_F_Kennedy_Official_Portrait.jpg) portait). If you think you could do something like that, let me know and I can send you a photo of myself to work with. Title: Re: Professional Digital Paintings Post by: Mike Christ on March 11, 2013, 03:16:43 AM the examples, so beautiful :) since how long are you enjoying ur talent? Thank you for your kind words ;D That's a tough question to answer. I've been drawing since I was a child, like most people. When I hit puberty, I was obsessed with an anime called FLCL, and for whatever reason, I wanted to draw just like they did. So I got a How to Draw Manga book for Christmas and tried learning from it. I was fairly mediocre for years... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/Mechaman/furikrui12431.jpg <-- Supposed to be Haruko. And I stopped drawing for VERY long periods of time, for months at a time between works. But when I did draw, I tried, and kept trying, and got frustrated every time. I still do get frustrated :P But around the time I turned 18 or 19, I saw on deviantArt certain artists which knew how to paint beautifully using tablets on PC, specifically Mike Henry (http://zatransis.deviantart.com) and Genzoman (http://genzoman.deviantart.com/). So I decided to get one of my own. I still wasn't very good, but I was definitely picking up a lot of different techniques. The first time I ever attempted to paint was through Photoshop. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v297/Mechaman/KainIcon.png So I'd say I've been painting seriously for at least 2 years, max 3. But I've been drawing off and on for at least 8, not including anything I did pre-FLCL :P Title: Re: Professional Digital Paintings Post by: K1773R on March 13, 2013, 08:54:54 AM keep us updated if you create something new :P

Here's a little something I've been working on for myself. It's the cover to a novel. Not sure what I'll add to it or if it's fine as it is, but I'll probably not be done writing this book for a while so I guess I got time to think on it. Tracing the work as paths in Illustrator never seems to retain the organic-ness of the original. Tracing the work as paths in Illustrator never seems to retain the organic-ness of the original. Yeah lineart is a really tough gig; fortunately I'm a painter so I never have to worry about having clean lineart ;D The best way I know how to do it is to take an opacity brush at 75% hardness in photoshop and clean it up by hand; vector paths always makes it look way too perfect, and you can't do much about line thickness (at least as far as I know) so I try to avoid it, unless I really gotta use it. I think I'd go crazy having to clean up lineart, it's such a time-consuming process, but for those who can go through with it, the results look really nice; some artists are incredible at lineart. I neglected to check this thread for a little while ;D
Very nice work. I bookmarked it as well. Thanks so much! How much do you charge for your service? Can you deliver a paint on a paper or you just draw on the PC? It depends on the subject matter; I charge roughly $10 per working hour, so really simple stuff is relatively inexpensive and really intricate works such as book covers can run up to $100. The average painting will typically be around $45, but I give my clients a concrete estimate of what the painting will cost from the start so there are no surprises. I do all my work digitally but you're free to have the original .psd file for printing purposes. Really nice and original art, i enjoyed watching every painting. Who inspires you to make paintings like "dog soup"? Is it your original idea? If your are not doing any order what kind of themes you draw the most? Thanks. Thank you for your kind words. Dog Soup was actually commissioned by Matthew N. Wright (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=24749), who was unfortunately banned some time ago. He'd given me a whole BTC out of charity so I insisted I paint something for him in return ;D The idea of there being a dog in a soup bowl was possibly a funny on his part considering he lived in SK at the time of this. For personal art, I usually do sketches of my own character designs; I have aspirations to become a video game artist and so spend much of my free time doing mock concept art. I have a very ambivalent view on art for art's sake, so it's rare to catch me doing any sort of art that doesn't serve some ulterior purpose, if not for my own improvement. But I believe I tend for "darker" themes when left to my own devices, i.e. Nightmare Before Christmas sort of designs or demons and such :P I enjoyed watching your art would you do some kind of video tutorials of how you draw what is the best program for that etc? That would be pretty cool, I'd watch it :)I also support this idea, you could make maybe not a tutorial but how you makes these painting in fast motion because i bet they take alot of time. ;) I've always wanted to do something like this, I certainly do love to teach. I'll see about recording my paintings for you guys. The tools I use are: a Wacom Intuos4L with old drivers because the new ones are messed up (:P), and Photoshop CS6 with a small set of custom brushes I've made tailored for drawing and painting. I use an image size of A4 when painting and shrink down to post on the nets. I'll update the thread with a video whenever I get the chance ;D Title: Re: Mike's Art Shop Post by: Swordsoffreedom on April 23, 2014, 07:33:53 AM Very nice work. I bookmarked it as well. I never finished this because my PC crashed while it was saving, and while the backup file was saving (apparently.) As a result, the PSD file was corrupted, but luckily I saved a jpeg copy sometime prior. It's too small to continue working with it so I figured I'd just let it be. Still, it looks pretty good. :) Out of curiosity, what more were you going to do with it? I needed to finish painting the background; you can see that the surrounding area of the fire, the trees, and its "leaves" have no detail; the rock-looking things (perhaps they were supposed to be bushes?) look blurry as well, I was probably planning on doing something with them. And of course there's always tweaking to do once everything is painted; messing with the hue, levels, contrast, textures, and whatnot. That the image is a computer wallpaper is irrelevant; the cost stems from the work hours required to produce the image, which varies depending on what the image is: simple images could take less than an hour, complex images could take a whole week. The artwork would be something freedom-inspired. The project is called Rein after "free rein", or a horse that is free to roam. I had a logo done with a Bitcoin, digital eagle wing as circuits that you can see on the project's Twitter @ReinProject. As I searched for some imagery before I thought seeing an eagle over a beautiful landscape would be nice but never found the image. If it goes more literal, then maybe a digital interpretation of such a scene would make sense. I'd probably use it for our Twitter cover image so wide aspect, SVG if it can be vector or hi-res PNG if not.
If you do the job it'll have to be through the platform which requires setting up a the python-rein program and creating an identity with a couple of Bitcoin signatures. In any case, I would like to know your bid taking into account that you may spend 30-60 mins getting setup with the platform. All data on the platform is public so you'd have to have some contact info you'd be comfortable sharing publicly as well (There are no strict rules so a bitcointalk account name would work as well as anything). http://reinproject.org is the project's website. Thanks for working for Bitcoin!
