Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM Display: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT If its possible to mine something, what software i need and what coin do you recommend to mine? If a CPU supports AES_NI, it can mine Monero, although not profitable.

If you want to try GPU mining you need to upgrade your 9600 GT. Used nvidia 750ti or amd 7970/ 280x is the cheapest way to start, you maybe need more powerfull PSU for amd though. I'm running my cards on very old hardware and they work just fine. Title: Re: Mining on old PC? Your hardware will be fine as long as you keep it properly cooled and don't force it to run outside of it's recommended specs, ie overclocking/over volting it into scrap. They're also ancient, they wouldn't mine much even if they COULD mine at all - there are ON-BOARD chipsets that are higher performance by a wide margin. Title: Re: Mining on old PC?
