Hi all

Does anyone here play any good board games? If so any suggestions. What is your favorite?
I don't mind them on occasion.

My GF loves them. She is a fan of the Catan series

I am more of a cards against humanity kind of person.

How about you?

Hands down Chess for me. More so the strategy aspect of it than the game itself that appeals to me.

Up-vote those 2, and add that game with snakes and stairs (totally forgot the name tho).

i never play anything else than chess and checkers, those are the best games and i never need a replacement

I'm old school, I play monopoly, checkers, and chess plus a few others with the kids.

This would be true for me as well. Logically, these games assist you in developing faster thought process in quick instances where you have to make the best judgement.

Oh yeah, there was a game here called Risk (no idea what it's called in other countries), the board have the world map and your goal is to conquer it, but you need to prepare your self in advance because the rules book took me a good 3 hours to read first time.

I do not play board games because I feel they are too slow and doesn't spike my interest. However, I don't mind playing every once in awhile with friends and family.

Most board games are fun with a group of friends and I love to play chess because it is strategic and challenging.

^The only board game that I really enjoy playing with my younger brother when we were a kids.

Chess Checkers and does anyone has an idea on damath? i play it too.

No one mentioned risk. Monopoly is good but risk is a favorite of mine fun game.

I don't play a lot of board games, but when i do i enjoy the large scale strategy ones such as Settlers of Catan or Risk. Risk is probably my favorite of all time because it is great to play with a group of friends. The games like scrabble i dont like because it is just between 2 people.

Same, before smartphones and computers , snakes & ladders were our favorite pastime and bonding activity. But nowadays those kind of board games were starting to extinct. :-[

but to be honest I never understood the rules of it, too complicated for me  :-\

Cluedo is a fave. But Monopoly wins it hands down.

You need to read the handbook when ever I play this with family they never read the rule book so annoying it's only like 5 pages. Also if you do play don't play castle risk or any other alternative version just play by classic rules. My rule book has a second part for castle risk so just skip that. It is a VERY long game but once you read the rules it's not hard to play.

I still play snakes and ladders... It's still so fun. I have no idea why it makes it so fun, but its fun and that's what counts. yeah, ^ it's going extinct except for some kids that buy it from Walmart or the dollar store. Even more so than those dinosaurs that nobody knows about :) Personal fave is monopoly. Cash and board games? OH YEAH! Just like Canadian money. :DD

Games like chess, risk and monopoly are cool in their own way, and very deep and technical (well maybe the first 2, monopoly not so much).

But I prefer charades style games where everyone has to act and do silly things to gain points for their team, it's very socially therapeutic IMO.

I recently played a game called "Cranium" (which is like a next level charades involving singing/clay modelling/backwards spelling/blindfold drawing etc.) while doing lines of ketamine with some friends. Results were... interesting. Best fun I've had in ages!

Chess and monopoly. Although monopoly takes forever to finish. Chess exercises my brain.

Well, not sure if you can count it as a board game but it surely is fun to play, think it was called the detective or something like that.
The game has 3 identical sets of people's photos with names under it, a set for each player and an extra set, every player puts the photos in front of him/her (prefer if you put them on carrier and other player doesn't see them), then the extra set is shuffled, every player takes a photo from that set (so he/she becomes that person) and doesn't show it to the other player. Now your goal is to know who the other one is, you start asking questions in turns (like have glasses, skin color, eye color, etc...).
The fun part is that you can actually make the game from photos of your friends and family, and you can twist the questions a bit (are you douche bag?)

Have been playing some monopoly and risk lately with friends!

And I have a few tips for u if also play it with friends :D

Monopoly:
Try to get Orange street at all costs! ((if u have all 3 cheap hotels and u win))
Don't bother with the more expensive streets!
In the later parts of the game Try to get in jail as Much as Possible.

Risk:
Try to get Africa Easy to defend and +3 army.
Don't bother with Asia and America they are to big let others fight over them!

Also a game I would like to buy is the Game of Thrones board game Anyone plays that here?

As a child , i loved to play in the "Битвы Fantasy"

An interesting story, an interesting idea, a few rules of the game, a lot of units of soldiers with their own characteristics (flexibility, martial arts, access to the tools), but actually shooting guns (catapults, crossbows, cannons, mortars, multi-barreled guns, robots), huge fortifications and tower.

I discovered chess recently but not very good at it, but I like it very much!

If anyone can share some guides for newbies like me that would be awesome.

I rarely play board games, but when I do it is mostly monopoly, risk, chess, battleship and scrabble.

When I was a kid, I used to play board games with my family and friends. We play chess, monopoly, games of the general, scrabble and many more. It is our way of bonding when gadgets does not exist yet. These games are fun because you tend to communicate and socialize with other people.

of course  yes I like board game because when I play the game that time I was so attentive  & get my intelligence very strong then I feel very interests  when I win then be more happy,so I like board game & its my favorite. 

I play chess.  Its fun to play and it help me to think strategically and decision making.

People need to play some of the more modern board games.  Sure the classics can be fun yet something new to play can be worth it. Good excuse to get friends/family together.

I play chess, almost every day I am not absent with a chess name. ;D

I am sure that almost everybody has played a game board at least one time in his life with a company of friends.I"ve bought many game boards when I was young and I usually I played with my sister (we end up to fight).A classical one is tabbo which you have to descriebe words but you can't speak some forbiden words.An other game which I like to play with many friends is pantomime which you have to  describe a word with your body and movements as It's forbiden to speak.

I haven't heard nor played the game tabbo. But, my classic favorite board games are Snakes and Ladders, Chess, and Game of the Generals. In these games, you are required to stay focus. Especially in chess and game of the generals. They also require you to be strategic, wise, and smart while playing them.

8 Pool Ball and cards are the best Board games that i ever played.
They never get bored for me.
I'll play most of my time with friends.

i have tried that before, but right now i do not longer play with those games because of busy schedules, but if i'm free and bored or i have some partner or a friend to play with i would love to play again, those bring back memories of my childhood and it is fun to play with.

Eversince I was a kid I love playing chess with my brother. Its our way of bonding . Even when Im in a high school I join the chess club , for me to improve my chess skills , I guess chess helps me to have a good decision making .

Board games? I really like scrabble, chess and also snake and ladder.  ;D
I am not a kid anymore but I really like to play them! Scrabble is the best for me because it can really challenge me. I also want to think of and look in a dictionary to know more.

Used to play D&D and Monopoly in the past

I were playing the Talisman a lot when I was young. Some worth mentioning would be the Battle for the ring or a space merchant.

The best every board game: Risk 2210 A.D.

I truly recommend it to boys and girls. Only problem it takes forever to finish.

I have been looking for a non competative board game for a while, and I read about Robinson Crusoe many good things. If anyone has played it, I would appreciate your comments.

i like to play monopoly it is one of my favorite game. this game can play two to eight members . very interesting game this one. and i have to play another game also. that one is ticket to ride game. this game theme is railway themed. i like both of this games.

My favorite is the classic, it is the monopoly, you have a nice time with those who are playing, you have financial freedom during the game, you apply market knowledge if you have them, and combine the emotion with the throwing of dice, another more technical is chess that already has a lot to do with the degree of knowledge you have of the game.

Ofcourse first and foremost is Chess Board games since my father teaches me this game when i was 3 years old and this is the only board gane that we play together as family,until i learn Millionaires Game,Scrabble and Snakes and Ladders lol

Until know i'd still prefer chess or checkers over any other board games. Chess is like playing poker, though there's less chance that you'll be bailed out by luck. There even was a time when my brother and i spent the new year's even playing non stop chess lol. It does sharpen the mind and makes you think ahead, something you can do in real life.

Not a chess master but I've been playing it since I was on grade 4. My uncle won't allow me to win and that made me more interested on it until I beat him. Though I'm grown, I still play this favorite board game of all.

I played a mystery board game before, i couldnt remember the name but it was so good i would like to play it again. But i play monopoly with nieces and nephews.

I always enjoyed monopoly and magic the gathering. Magic is not a board game but it's kind of like it.

It happens that you want to just have fun with your friends, but you don't have to play anything, because not everyone respects online gambling, so card games or dominoes always come to the rescue, where you can play four for a couple.
