The issue is not the concept of scriptable block chains (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1361602.msg13916059#msg13916059), but rather Ethereum's piss poor, overly hyped plans (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1361602.msg13913947#msg13913947) for implementing a consensus algorithm. You'll be eating your words mister, Ethereum bubble did burst, but that doesn't take away from it's functionality, people just over-hyped it for their perverted pump&dump schemes. However, it's gaining traction with businesses as well as governments now, and it will be very useful in the medium to long-term (3-5 years).
