Title: why the wallet update so hard?

I'm useing the wallet client(the bitcoin-qt ver 4.74),I'm very Uncomfortable about the bitcoin update block must be everyday download?
Is not there a more rapid and effective method?

Yes, a lightweight client like MultiBit

The bitcoin-qt client download the whole blockchain wich takes a lot of time. But for normal users this isn't required, so you can just use a lightweight client  :)

but the wallet cannot be encrypted with MultiBit so don't use it for large amount!

I Think so,better be encrypted must be QT version.

There is a test version of MultiBit with encrypted wallets available (version 0.5.7beta) here:

It is not ready for general release but I must admit I use it with my real BTC.
Just make sure you keep your wallets backed up.

Nothing stop you from crypting it with something like TrueCrypt btw.
