The point is that guns don't hurt anything or anybody. It is the attitude of the people that does the harm.

Russia has lost a lot more of its religion than America. That's why Americans are much safer with guns that Russians are.

This is such a foolish philosophy. Guns do kill people, very easily. If you get in a fist fight, chances are any party will walk away with a few bruises or maybe a broken bone. If you get into a gun fight, someone is likely to die or have life changing injuries. I have seen far too many people lose their temper and easy access to a weapon like that will end up with serious consequences. Oh and as Vika pointed out - America is the home of gun massacres so don't get all preachy here.

Woman Holding Child's Severed Head Detained in Moscow

A woman suspected of murdering a child has been detained near the Oktyabrskoye Pole metro station in northwestern Moscow, the RIA Novosti news agency reported Monday, citing Investigative Committee spokeswoman Yulia Ivanova.

The 38-year old Uzbek national, Gyulchekhra Bobokulova, held the severed head of a child and threatened to blow herself up, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper reported, citing an unidentified source in law enforcement.

The woman was dressed in black and was shouting “Allahu Akbar,” according to the RBC news website.

Investigators immediately ordered that the detained woman undergo a forensic psychiatric examination, Ivanova said.

The area around the Oktyabrskoye Pole station has been cordoned off. Bomb disposal experts are currently checking the site for explosives, an unidentified source in law enforcement told the Interfax news agency.

Earlier on Monday, firefighters discovered the decapitated body of a 4-year-old child after putting out a fire in a apartment in Ulitsa Narodnogo Opolcheniya, located near the Oktyabrskoye Pole metro station, Interfax reported.

According to the preliminary data of the Investigative Committee, the nanny waited until the family left the apartment, killed the child, set the apartment on fire and left, RIA Novosti reported.

The Moscow Times has chosen to show neither photo nor video of the incident out of respect for the victim and the victim's family.

I'm not going to rake over all the evidence because that would take a million years and you are already hardened in your pro gun stance. In this rapidly advancing new world we live in - there are always going to be unstable, scared, enraged or downright psychopathic people. It may happen to any one of us, if only for a short and fleeting moment. A gun can then change everything.

Okay, when the armed crook attacks you, get a bunch of your unarmed friends together, and order them to jump him before you step in.

Wishing guns to simply drop off the face of the earth isn't going to happen. And I would rather have some form of gun protection than not.

:)

I agree, if you live in a society that is already saturated with guns it would be exceptionally hard, nigh on impossible to take them away. Considering how much military money is being dispersed on weapons companies, combined with selling to the public - is a money making machine. That cash in turn funds lobbying groups like the NRA who suppress sensible laws based only on commercial interests.

I don't see a way out other than better education, right from the earliest ages and all the way through we should enable little Einsteins to flourish, instead of Hitlers. Everyone learns differently and should be helped to have a happy upbringing.
