Should this not be in service announcements? Nothing special here. Another countdown till the halving, albeit a bit illustrative.

It doesn`t seem to be any service. But it is a cool site. You can add faucet or a different service to get some attention.

I like the simple art/style.  Looking forward to the launch.  Hopefully the price of bitcoin will double.

"Total number of bitcoins:" , are those real stats ? It seems like it's simply increasing and counting , I don't think it's correct .

Yeah same expectations here also bro. Price will be more than 800$ I guess. And we can see more adaption in bitcoin in future I mean after halving.
Hoping for the best.

OP, you are the number one thread starter but seldom comment in the OP on the links that you post. We all know about the impending reward drop and yes that's a cool little site to track it but do you have a comment on it. Are you happy about it, afraid of it, masturbate to the thought of it or have no feelings at all?

Albeit really illustrative and beautiful you mean? :)

Thanks for this creation! Though it's "nothing special" as Lauda says, it's a really cool countdown ;D

I can see it well, and has nice and simple design. The halvening is quite near it seems. But the percentage shown... is based on actual info from the blockchain or just an statisthical estimation?

Nice and simple website, looks great :)
Just give information about your website in here and add more FAQ about halving such as famous bitcoin prediction about halving or link to detailed information.

It's only you, i use firefox browser, but i don't see any weird effect on the texxt

Meh?

Well I don't understand then...
When I click on the text and it expands to reveal the answer of the question it doesn't do it in a smooth way at all!

Anyway the design is still cool :)

Worked 100% for me, and I think it is a cool domain name and easy to remember. Is this event so important for some people to pay for a .com domain? I think I might be a bit to pessimistic when it

comes to this topic, because I think it is a much a do about nothing event. My prediction will be a slight increase in the price working up to the event and then a major price drop following that.

A lot of people are banking on this event as the Moon event, and I think there will be a lot of disappointed people. The last Halving were not that impressive at all.

Yes, once the Sell orders pile up at around $700 or $800 then we're going to have a downtrend. Most will start selling while only a few are going to buy btc at that price.

Most spaceships have a spectacular liftoff and then spend most of their time drifting unpowered. Just saying.

AFAIK, there is no way of telling when exactly halving is going to happen because the blocks are not mined exactly with same time space between them.
sometimes there is 4 block per hour sometimes there is more

This could be a thread where people holding long term gather and we can share our strategies towards the halving.

Will you sell and try to short by buying back again since I assume you expect a correction after a massive pump, or you will not risk it in fears of being left behind and lossing massive upward gains that you could have made by simply sitting your ass down and watch the show go up?
I personally don't know what to do. I think I had enough risk shorting some alts lately.. I dont want to risk my position in Bitcoin in hopes of nailing a good prediction to buy back again with some more.

I am trying to get as much bitcoin's now before the halvening I am still invested in alt coins at the moment.
But eventually I will trade them back for bitcoins, before the halvening.

Hey,

I'm the dev of thehalvening.com. I've just noticed this thread, thanks for all the nice comments!  :D

Just to answer a few questions:

"Total number of bitcoins:" , are those real stats ? It seems like it's simply increasing and counting , I don't think it's correct .
"Total number of bitcoins": the value is not totally accurate since new bitcoins only come when a block is found. But we wanted to give a sense of the increase rate and it's easier to visualize it with a continuous evolution!

Hey, maybe it's me but I'm on Firefox and on the last part if I click to have the details of the question is make some weird effect with the text :/
@Laosai: It seems you have trouble with the text animation. What version of Firefox are you using?

another clock shows 129 days http://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com/ versus this that show 137, and another one show 137 like this one, so i guess the first that i saw is wrong

@Amph: Well all of these dates are estimates, no one can tell the exact date because it depends on mining activity! Our countdown is based on a 10-min block generation time, which is Bitcoin network target

Feedback is very much welcome, cheers!

Info about the halving price prediction from the site:

"The first Bitcoin halving occurred on the 28th of November 2012. On that day the price went up +1.7%, a negligible move.

However the preceding and following months showed continued growth and led to the famous early-2013 rally (from 13$ to 260$ in 4 months)."

I don't believe that this was effect of a halving at all. Just like that huge price spike of late 2013 was not even real bubble - but caused by trading bots of MtGox.
So far impact of halving on price of cryptocurrency is not clear. I would be very careful with our expectations.

The price rise earlier but not the fact that twice. You most importantly do not forget to buy more Bitcoins.

I kind of wonder what the outcome will be for everyone if we dont actually get a price rise after the halfing? I hope everyone will still stay with bitcoin as the increase may not come for some time after.

No, it is not too early at all. Common sense is telling us that investors and traders will try to purchase more in anticipation of halving.
Price might go UP even before actual event will hit us and (considering we have alredy over 15 millions of BTC in circulation) halving will have rather psychological impact.

Nah, its 2 early. Compared to LTC halving, I d say, one month before. The issue at hand is whether it ll stay up or not?
