Title: I have 6GH/s, which pool should I join for best payout?
Post by: Herp-a-derp on January 23, 2013, 09:51:29 PM
I have mined solo until now, but want to join pool for more regular payouts. But which one gives the best return for my 6GH/s work rate?

Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, how many coins did you mine solo with that hash rate?.. and how often do you find a new block recently?

I would mine at P2Pool for various reasons. Optional fee. Miners receive all transaction fees. It's up time relies solely on your ability to keep your computers running, no worries about the pool server going down or getting DDoS. Fresh coins, just like solo mining (although in smaller chunks).

Excellent, just what I was looking for!

However, I do have a slight problem connecting my miners to the port 9332 as they all report 'authorization failed' using the same username and password I had previously. If I leave these fields blank I get the same error.

I am probably missing something very simple but I can't spot what it is.

Currently I am using  poclbm with -v -f0 -w256 and p2pool with no flags.

Thanks.

I was only mining solo for around 2 weeks before changing my mind and not find any blocks in that time.

I guess I should find at least one block per month at 6GH/s.

Currently P2Pool may not a very good option because it uses lots of bandwidth and is not so easy to setup for newbies.

Also, you could try out my pool.

Can you change "try out the pool in my signature" to "try out my pool in the signature" ?

The "Campaign for Truthiness" thanks you.

Give MaxBTC a try - their interface is a little slow to load sometimes, but it looks AWESOME and is easy to use.

Also, their double-geometric-blah-blah payment system seems to discourage pool-hoppers and pays out fairly evenly after a few days of mining.

2cents.

BTCOxygen's interface is also very friendly and easy to use and loads fastly.

Also, our PPS payment system pays all miners fairly and it does not depend on luck.

I reccommend BTCGuild, for me its the smoothest running pool around.
Do Not Join 50btc, they have MASSIVE connection traffic from the botnets aimed at them and about 2% of your gpu work could get REJECTED because of thier server lagging behind

But BTCGuild has Fee of 5%.

BTCOxygen Mining pool also has Stratum support and a fee of only 2% which in the long term is better than a 0% fee getwork pool.

Do Not Join 50btc, they have MASSIVE connection traffic from the botnets aimed at them and about 2% of your gpu work could get REJECTED because of thier server lagging behind

Also when 2% of your shares get rejected their overall Fee becomes ~5%.

Al BTCOxygen Mining pool you rarely get even 1 share rejected thanks to the stratum protocol for all these benefits.

You're using a unique username and password for each miner, right? Each instance needs its own username & password. Also, I've been really happy with slush's pool.

I will definitely try your pool but I have a couple of questions before I start.

1) Roughly, how many BTC will I earn per day with 6GH/s? (this should go up to ~10GH/s over the next month btw)
2) Can I use the Stratum Proxy with your pool?

Thanks.

At your current hashrate you will earn around 1.05 BTC per day sometimes you could get more.

With 10GH/s you will be earning around 1.75 BTC per day sometimes you could get more.

2) Can I use the Stratum Proxy with your pool?

Thanks.

Yes, Our pool supports Stratum so you can use Stratum Proxy to mine at our pool.

btw, the lastest version of poclbm comes with integrated stratum support so you might not really need the proxy.

BitcoinOxygen: I have a few concerns regarding your pool.  There are no links or buttons to change account passwords and worker passwords, and also no links or buttons to delete workers that are no longer needed.  I hope you can put them in.  Thanks!

Right now you should be making around 0.34 BTC (or US$44.21 at current exchange rates) each day. After subtracting the pool fee, that's around $43.30.
