NOTICE: I will be revising the rating scheme used to determine whose entries appear more frequently. The intention is to make the rating scheme transparent and hopefully more fair.


A handful of webpage owners have recently embedded the BTC Economy (http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Btceconomy) plugin into their sites. The plugin was created for the purpose of showing the rest of the world that the bitcoin economy offers a large, diverse selection of merchandise and services. Almost 100 websites to date have been crawled, indexed, and added to the feed. To promote further adoption of the embeddable plugin and to thank the websites owners already running the plugin, I have decided to start a new marketing program. Websites running the plugin will receive priority status in the feed so that their merchandise and services will appear more frequently.

Starting this weekend (which is when I have the time), I will add a boost in priority to the sites running the plugin. Here is a list of sites currently running the plugin.

If you already use the plugin in your site or are planing to use it then please list your site in this forum post so that I am aware of your website. Otherwise, I will not know to boost the priority rating of your merchandise, service, or website.

To embed the plugin into your site simply cut and paste the following line of Javascript into your site.

I need to point out that the plugin will take up 450px in width and 350px in height. I will eventually create additional skins for the plugin that will use different dimensions (e.g. 120px in width and 450px in height). Unfortunately, I do not have the time to work on additional skins right now.

Can you make it come in different colors? Also, could there be a non-animated version? It can be a bit distracting.

I have bumped up the priority of sites currently supporting the plugin. This is exciting!

I just fixed a bug in the BTC Economy plugin that would cause the web-browser to crash if the plugin was left running for several hours. Evidently, the browsers were trying to cache every image in the feed. This would use up all the ram causing the browser to freeze.

The problem has been resolved. Let me know if anyone discovers any bugs with the plugin, and I will fix the problem promptly.
