Title: Gamers/Games/Consoles/PC's
Post by: bowen151 on January 28, 2013, 08:48:43 AM
Hi all.

Just finished the new Devil may cry.

Was unsure of the reboot and new style format but overall I liked it, gave some insight into the story before the events in the 1st one.

Also recently finished darksiders 2, really liked that for some reason, the story again was pretty good, mass effect 3 wasnt too bad either.

What all games are you fine folks playing these days, any recommends? Next on the chopping block will probs be dead space 3

lol :P I think you should find some better games to be honest.

The only one I'm really looking forward to these days is Star Citizen.

Not my style at all, I was never one for the MMORPGS.

Are they all that you would play?

LOL MMORPG? Have you even looked at it? It's a sci-fi space sim like Freelancer, in fact, it's being made by the same guy.

I used to play Counter-Strike Source, but I boycotted steam because it's a piece of filthy DRM and I'm tired of it, I tend to play games like Fallout New Vegas and Minecraft these days.

Games I've played in the last 2 weeks:
Left 4 Dead 2
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Portal 2
Half-Life 2

I'll buy PayDay The Heist when there's a nice promo on Steam.

TBH i never looked at it at all lol. I remember hearing it was a large MMORPG that crowd sourced some funding but that was it.

I'll give it a bash maybe. You'd recommend it anyways?

Yes that and 0x10c though I'm not too sure about that one because we haven't seen much from it, Notch is developing it though and he made minecraft.

Still getting mileage out of XCOM Enemy Unknown, just finished classic Iron man mode.   Many fine agents met their ends at the hands of those infernal aliens >:(

Been playing trilogies at the moment, ones that have strong tied storylines between each in the series... notably Mass Effect 1/2/3 and currently working on Dragon Age 1/DLC/2 and hopefully if they don't slip I'll be adding DA3 in the fall.... probably get distracted though in between wrapping up DA2 before the release of DA3 lol

Oh yes, Xcom is another good one that said I don't think I like turn based games very much.

I've been playing through the Sly Collection on PS3 recently. On PC I've only really played Symphony (http://store.steampowered.com/app/207750) in the past month or so.

I've been using an old laptop for years, could not even run an old game in low settings.

Finally bought a new Desktop for Christmas.
And now I can run every-f-game in Ultra settings!

FUCK cod, FUCK all bethsada recent games (the engine is fucking horrific)
Im playing things like BF3 where my bullets are projectiles with velocity, instead of hitboxes
Fighting games like MUGEN and Tetris
Adventure games like Touhou or Metro2033
Or casual games like Deus Ex, or FFxiii-2

Majority of new games in 2011 and 2012 were really bad and people didnt even realise it because they had no benchmark to compare against, they all used Crysis 2 as the bench, and we got some bad graphics with shitty engine a good example is Bethsada... D:

Not that its a folly of crysis, but of the companies trying to do something they simply arent good enough to accomplish.

A great example is the glorius BF3, when launched it was a buggy clusterfuck
Then it was patched into a functional game, sadly they ran out of money and had to sell "Battlefield3 Premium"
In the expansionless, original BF3, We see a game with alot of missing things and a fail
In the Premium version (aka all the bonus content) you get what the game should've been at launch date.

The oppisite of this is when companies were just flatout lazy like Bethesda using the same crappy engine in all thier games, or DiRT cutting more and more features with each follow game, or infinitiward saying "no deticated servers allowed"

LOL I won't argue with you there, the engine made by Bethesda really is horrific and to top it off they actually went and said "Yes, we'll bring in Obsidian to make our next Fallout game" it's a shame though because Bethesda are actually one of the few games developers that make fun games.

Yeah, I'm with you, a lot of the new gamers worship stupid bullshit like COD and BF3 because they have nothing better to play, eventually though, eventually, something way more amazing will come out and then the big companies will go bankrupt... I hope lol :P

Yeah D: i played atleast 300+ hours of Morrowind, couldnt even play past 60 on oblivion as soon as i noticed that all weapons have the same range, then came skyrim and i quit the second i killed the first dragon with my fist and shield (vryhard difficulty, otherwise you suck at games), i was level 7... and it died from my bare hands...

Personally, im all about skill and the AAAAAAAOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! factor of totally schooling somebody on a game.http:/BTW, This is Touhou, where every hostile projectile is a 1HKO http://www.youtube.com/#/watch?feature=related&v=yCOYrMgnNGE

Games that I recently played and totally worth it:
Portal 2
Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath (Best non-Blizzard RTS ever made!)
Sniper Elite V2 (the only problem is the AI and the fact that enemies spawn from nowhere)
Skullface (Pretty nice Flash game!)
Team Fortress 2 (Very funny to play Mann vs Machine mode)

Hahaha, yeah the few last updates  became very unbalanced, GDI became the most balanced in all aspects, Nod sucks if you odn't know how to be a rusher, Black Hand is good but I like marked of kane as well, love the awakened with those EMP blasts :3
Hint: to defeat a squad spam of Black Hand, make a Spam of Venoms and Scorpions Tanks with Bulldozer so you can smash them pretty easily. Specter not required, but each shot can kill dozens with each shot.
Traveler-59 with cultists and shock troopers is OP, the Scrin aircraft is OP(srysly? they have an artillery aircraft and a carrier?), the Tripod with close-range EMP is OP.
But the game is very well made, I love the graphics, I loved the campaign and the actor who is Kane and it's good that the MP stills alive :D

Too expensive.
I never buy games for more than 10.00€ (unless I really want it).

Interesting...

Probably the best game I've played in the past 12 months is the DLC for Fallout: New Vegas. My favorite run in that game was when I started by playing Honest Hearts.

Next best was probably Deus Ex Human Revolution, but that was intolerable on the console. That Yellow tint had to die.

Third was Postal 2 on steam for Linux.

I've never liked playing single player games, I've always like co-op split screen games like Crash Bash, Bugs Bunny and Taz lost in time,etc... Tho there were some games I liked that are single player and those are mostly on PS1 like spyro and crash bandicoot,... but one I liked the most, completed it over a dozen times and still play unleast once a year is Digimon Adventure 2 for PS1, I just love grinding in videogames :D Thus I play mmorpgs and love games like Maplestory and WoW.
