Good news everyone,

As some of you already know I have been here active in a few altcoin threads for the last week.

Some have requested that I put an announcement on the forum to make people more aware of the exchange, so here it comes. I will make this announcement prettier, this is just to make you know Novaexchange is out there.

Found this exchange for a few days ago, it seems serious and had worked good for me, also deposits and withdrawals is working good, new coins seems to being fast listed.
When I registered my account, the site was still in beta, and a few bugs was found, sended e-mail to owner about this, he answered very quick, and fixed the bugs immediately.

The coin is new code, I mean is not a bitcoin fork, so I don't know how difficult it could be to set it up, anyway hope you like the idea.

Cool, in any case the DEV have a good disposition about things related to his coin, and he is active on the ANN thread. By the way the guys of Neptunium (Cryptonote based) are going trough a bad time without an exchange, they can't hit an exchange because there is no block explorer, and also they seem to be a very active community.

Yes, the simplest solution right now is to use English characters in name and username.

There will come a fix for unicode names next release of the exchange.

If you have a transaction ID the coins has been sent. After this you need to allow the blockchain some time to put your transaction into a block so it gets some confirmations before they are put into your wallet.

How much do you ask to list a coin? Do you list a coin for free? Do you host ICOs?

I currently do not ask anything to list a coin, this may however change in a near future to get priority in the queue because of the amount of requests, the queue has over 28 coins right now that is in line to be added.

I prefer not to add more than maybe 1-2 coins per day to make sure they are compatible and works with the exchange RPC engine.

Well, I prefer you to do not charge until a year or so, until you have lot of traders. Once you turn into a good exchange, pick coins selectively.

Also a promotion or some kind of advertising will help your exchange to gain more user. It's nice that you guys are adding new coins that doesn't have exchange sites yet, the only problem is your exchange site is not so lively.

Raiblocks is a good addition. You can get a lot of traders there. Already the coin has got lot of supporters. IMO, raiblocks will trade at good volumes for 2 + years.

It is a project on going, the dev has given me api documentation, but still need to build the whole function. Once done it will be launched.

An vulnerability has opened up for a specific user give themselves an insane amount of Bitcoins. These has been used to trade in the markets, balances has been re-arranged.


All in all, BTC, DOGE and ESP balances cannot be trusted, the vulnerability caused the attacker insert a transaction within deposit systems. But did not think that Novaexchange is a young exchange that doesn't bank a lot of coins. The total volume of BTC in the most important wallet was 3.82 BTC before the attack, not a huge amount but that does not mean it is not painful for some.

The attacker themselves did not get away with anything - actually it is happy users that got traded in ESP market during the last few hours that became happy they sold for BTC and withdrew everything. Which caused the wallet to go empty.

All trades and such is logged and I could technically do a rollback of all trades even if it will take a lot of time to sort everything out. Which would you prefer?
I am concidering to close down the exchange permanently once you have withdrawn your coins, unless the community gives any reason for Novaexchange to stay around. I wanted the site to become a serious player in this business with a lot of alt-coins that other exchanges refuses to trade, that was the idea behind Novaexchange.

I have one btc withdrawal which was put to Delayed and it did not came through. I checked the transaction a while ago and it was not there along with the other withdrawals. I have PM you regarding that as well.

Still I have to say it is highly frustrating to read these "withdraw ALL of your coins, as FAST as possible, EVERYTHING" all over the place, but when I attempt to withdraw my LTC I only see that they are not there, balance is zero, so how can I possibly withdraw them as fast as possible?! you claim the total loss of this hack (https://www.novaexchange.com/message/) is currently equal or less than 3.82 BTC.

Please do your alt-coin community a favour following these steps:

• fix the security issue(s) enabling the attack vector to access the Nova database
• move the current (non-existing) BTC (and maybe DOGE and ESP) balances to new virtual BTC_reclaim currency balances
• re-enable Nova service with empty BTC (and maybe DOGE and ESP) balances
• setup a soft (max) limit of about 0.5 BTC which no user is allowed exceed depositing into the BTC wallet
• start fundraising for a professional security audit

If you intend to close down service operations maybe because the service fees did not cover your (hosting & service) costs please share this fact with your community.

Guys, that was my situation too. send him pm in twitter and he rollsback your trade and you can get your esp back.
Those esp-btc trades was not real since hacker vheated with btc wallet balance.
I'm happy with this solution.

i have been following the activity of nova exchange after they announced they were hacked, as soon as i read the notice i withdrew my coins, though some take sometime to be transferred but eventually i got all of 'em, i don't think this exchange was trying to scam people.  

It was never and will never ever be their intention to scam anyone. Look how well they are dealing with this situation.

The hack was indeed real and also very unfortunate, yet they are doing everything they can to restore and recover.

The delays in withdrawals is also easily explained, some of them requires manual review. You all want it to be correct, yea ?

I hope people will continue to let this exchange try to re establish and they are still sending back the coins that has been lost I've seen many transaction has been made and nova is still working to replace those coin that has been lost.

How can we be sure this is legit, and how will lost funds be replaced?

I have contacted the dev and asked about my LTC balances - no response. I provided detailed screenshots and tried via Twitter and Email. Nothing. Does anyone know what happened to these balances and what are the chances to get it back? I thought only Bitcoin was affected by the hack.

I've also tried asking about this here on BTCTalk several times, in this thread and Espers thread, but nobody even bothered to react to my questions.  :( Except the Espers dev asking why I had become interested in ESP again.

I fully understand the scepticism, which was why I also made the transactions visibile and linked the addresses to explorers. So that you can (if you want) track the coins.

I am not the owner nor operator of Novaexchange, but I am a close IRL friend of the founder since many many years. I dont want him, or his users (you) to suffer from this.

All the LTC donations so far are from ScryptPool and it's users.

Yes, BTC was where the trouble started, then those bitcoins were used in other markets and spreading the contamination. At the same time, normal trades occured, withdrawals, deposits, and so forth, shuffling the fake btc around.

After some days of investigation, and all users withdrawals, the damage became much more clear, and as it stands now 3.82 BTC, 270 LTC and 303951671 ESP is what is missing.

I am afraid that exchange with problems will always remain secondary or third trading platform for crypto users...

If its true, these loses should be peanuts for an exchange owner to write off and carry on with the running of the exchange - glad its not in 100s of bitcoins.
I remember poloniex going through a similar phase long back. They reopened their exchange with all the balances and there was an option to donate towards the loses on customer's discretion, in the withdrawal/balance page. That way every one was sure that their donation is going to the right place and it was easier for the loyal customers to donate too.

I think he was referring to the "An error occured, the incident has been reported" message on scryptpool. Stratum uses alooooot of db connections and sometimes it runs amok spawning connections and causing db server to refuse new connections. I sorted that out earlier today.

Decided to check out the dice. After about 20 rolls I encountered a loss of 16 consecutive rolls.

Odds of this happening are 1/65536. And it happened only after I rolled about 20 times before that. Probably would've continued but I didn't have the STRB to keep going. Decide for yourself if that's coincidence or not.  :D

Beijan hasn't come back to respond to the people who are requestin their refunds. I think it's safe to assume that we can't expect to get any refund from them. It already took so long and without communication, that only means they don't care anymore.
I will suggest everyone to stay away from this exchange. If something like that happened once, they can do it again.

Bejjan does not respond to emails. Bejjan's fundraiser website (https://www.scryptpool.com/novaexchange) is down. Novaexchange sent (https://novaexchange.com/notice/fundraiser/) an overly gracious amount of 0.08673469 LTC ($ 0.48) to the fundraiser on 2016-06-17. Is this a joke?  ???  Did not receive any refund yet.

Edit: Bejjans website is up again, as of 2016-06-21
