Bitcoin jumped to a surprising 475 late this month, wonder what caused the serge. Hope the price can stay high for awhile.

I think this was just a spike. The price has been increasing slowly but steadily. This is healthy growth towards reward halving.

Hopely this May can be better than previous month, can over of 500$.

Yes i also hope like that, but within the halving issue i think most of the people will hold their bitcoin, that will cause bitcoin price to go down, but after halving i hope the price will be rise after the halving

People holding their coins doesn't necessarily mean that the price will go down. There might be less supply on the market of coins, weakening the currently think sell walls and potentially driving the price up.

I think so. but starting of may isn't that good. bitcoin price dropped to 455+ dollars. but I also hope that this month bitcoin price will cross this year's all records and and can over up to 500$ .

What caused this I wonder because I am low on coins and most of my bets have not completed yet so I am holding nothing right now  :-\

May Day Revolution perhaps?  Is there any evidence that the price of BTC jumps at the start of the month ie when people who only get paid monthly are likely to be cashed up and are more likely to buy?

I only check the price on the mycelium wallet and it hasn't even been up to 460 in a few days. I think they use bitstamp price.

I think price is high in general anticipation of Halving. Also some positive news were released recently - major news being - Steam finally accepted bitcoin as payment method.
This certainly bolstered bitcoin credibility and position on the market.

But that can't be it alone to support a $25 hike in price all the sudden  :-\

I think it is because the halving is coming near? Well, there are a lot who already accepts bitcoin and that will be possibly be the reason of the price hike this month.

What I believe is that traders are testing the waters if bitcoin is going to have much resistance for a a higher price before the halving. Either way, holders want a high price, ain't we?

Exactly. You may regret now of selling your bitcoin because it is possibly thay the bitcoin price will raise this coming halving. Just hold it and wait for it.

It s all speculation about halving. It ll go to $600 just before halving. What will happen after is a big question?

Probably price will go up a bit. Not maybe up to 600$ like many are predicting but it could go up to 500-550. So, hold your coins for a while.

i never see that price this month or last month,and today i see the price is 1 BTC = $456.88,i'm not sure the price will do up until $475,maybe just until $460.
and as coinbase data said that Bitcoin in circulation through the years :
15,285,225 Bitcoin as of March, 2016

But now it is once again at $446, and I have noticed that it is coming down, I also have noticed that some people are dumping their bitcoins, as last night the buying and selling price of bitcoin was more than $461 ,and at that time one person was continuously selling his coins at $453.
We should have to sell our coins at higher price and should not have to sell them at low.

As you can see now you see indeed that the value is getting rising slowly and that is quite nice for the currency but maybe you can have more money but you never know when it will stop rising.
And that can be a huge problem for you because you have to take also some risks with it so that is quite bad for it.

It seems like the Bitcoin price is still moving up to its way to $500. I hope that the price is going to rise more before the halving kicks and sets everything back again.
We are just so close to the $500 and it would be bad if we did not hit it this year.

Well, the price is still stabilizing at $450 so I don't think it's a bad idea to just hold it for now. It's not bad to get our hopes high, but for safety measures, I don't want my hopes to be that high.

Slight prehalving effect at least in my own view.

Honestly it's a good thing that price dips again, I thought I can never see such $10-$20 dip due to that slight prehalving effect.

So go on and take advantage as we might don't know if there's a price like this after halving effect established.

Bitcoin is getting more worth and that is perfect for the people who already is using Bitcoin and are waiting for a nice prince increase that will come soon.
But the bad thing is that you never know when it is going to stop rising and that is the risky thing.

That was not true. I checked ticker from last night to this morning and nothing changed to get to this level. It more than dropped back to $440 but that's all the movement there was from last night.

As my speculation the price of 475 its possible for 2 weeks from now.. just wait and you will see it..
Just dont panic to sell if the price hit 475 so that the price will continues increase..

Even current hoax going on created by gavin and craig is not causing panic to the traders. This is good sign that price could be 600 and more before we touch halving this year.

I think people are buying in anticipation for the coming scarcity... you know when halving begins...

We are almost at $500 and I am predicting that it going to hit that this month. I also hope that the price can stay high for some time because we have waited a long time for this to happen and if the price was going to drop again this would be very disappointing.

We're gonna get there, as soon as this hoax about Satoshi is done, then we will see a good price movement again. We may reach that $475 maybe before the month ends.

i was never seen that bitcoin prices reach to those amount and only reach to $46xx but unfortunately i didn't selling my bitcoin during those prices
but i wish to see bitcoin prices to reach $500 as the last year in this may

Do not worry about the not selling at $46x. The price will be $500 in two months, or even just a few weeks.

can't really see the price touch $500 within a few weeks, but i am quite sure that it will happen just before the block halving. at that time people that are panic buying might trigger a rally that will push the price to +$500 levels. we need a bit more patience.

Bitcoin is going to rise slowly and that is because it already keep stable for a long time and that is perfect because we all waited for a price increase.
But it is hard to make the decision because sometimes you dont know what to do, there is a chance that it can reduce later.

We hope there is no more pump and dump of the bitcoin. The big pump will do damage to the bitcoin for several years.

I do not remember it going that much up either. And it seems it will not go to that point in a short time... 455 or so seems like a barrier.

May be we will be seeing that price by the end of the next week as price is rising so we can expect this price in  next few weeks.

That would be a great increase if that happens before halving.

You can see the price of 475 this next week and i think the end of the month we will see the changes and it will start gradually increase until the price reach 475.. this is just my speculation.. block halving is too far..

It is really good, specially for us because we all are bitcoin's people, hope till the end of May bitcoin's price will be at $500. i believe its all about for halving, but it is healthy growth towards reward halving.

If the price is $500 at the end of May, it is already a good achievement. I just wish the price to be stable and rise slowly.

The bad thing is that nobody will know what the value will be in the future and when it will stop rising so that is quite risky.

$500 at the end of the month would be indeed a nice thing. And there still enough time to achieve that.
But a stable and slowly rise is wishful thinking imo.At least over a long period of time this is impossible at the moment.
We will continue seeing hypes, bubbles and bursts for many more years.

The price is almost at $500 so I hope that we are going to hit this amount very soon. This will be useful for the people that want to sell there coins and want to make money.

The Bitcoin price is now going the good way and is almost hitting $500. Just a bit longer And people can finally sell there coins for a profit if you bought a a while ago.

$500 is a low target for me. I will simply keep holding my coins till the price reaches at least $700 before I secure my profits. As long as the price sits below $700 I will not secure any profits.

We have tested that resistance again in the last hours and we are correction again back to 450-455. I think that in no time we will see a third attempt to destroy this 470 selling ceiling and once this ceiling is trespassed, then it's pretty much free highway all the way up to 500, then we will test 500 for a while again, and hopefully we crush it quick.

I think it will take time to reach to $700 as we not reached to $500 since long time, its good to see bitcoin rising at a moment but its not that easy to achieve $700 mark.

If whales will do the job those freakish sellers won't do nothing to make it's dips below $470.

It's not time I think since this dips today gives advantages for those lovely buyers to take part in the speculated price rise thru bitcoin halving.

Yepp I think so as well.
And hopefully with this attempt we will break this hurdle and keep on moving up.
It's a bit like a few months ago, around Q4 of last year as we also needed severel attempts to break the 300.

I know it requires a lot patience from my side to be able to sell at $700 prices. But it's not a problem as I have patience enough, and on top of that I am already long term minded so it will be an easy job for me.

I see that the value is slowly increasing once again. I have not seen it drop below $450 (I hope I didn't jinxed it) in the past few days. Indeed we will see more events in the coming years as the supply of bitcoins are mined. However, I'm really interested what will happen if all coins are mined.

I feel the same as this month started with BTC reaching $460 which then reached $479 and now it's down to $450. These price fluctuations are bascially low and hence from here it's just testing the short term resistance which could lead to an increase by the end of this month. Indicators predict that we may reach $650 but it will definitely be 500 at least.

I completely agree. I am also only interested in the long term instead of short term gains.

You can choose to sell now for a small profit and risk buying back at a much higher price, or you can just wait a good while and get a more than decent profit. It's not that difficult.

This almost makes actually a huge difference, as we are trying to get back at this almost since the last November, if you remember price action.

Last November, the price rose too fast, so it dropped again to $300. This time, the price rise is slow, so it is sustainable.

It is not about the pace of the rise, it is about the price levels.
$500 is simply unsustainable based only on a thin air. We should have some more stuff on the development side, if we want to have 'long and steady' rise.

The bitcoin price dropped below $450 again. That could be caused by the rise of the Ethereum price recently.

well price fell down now to 450$ but this is still good price for bitcoins, and i hope that this price will stay or rise more because of halving, as price then will rise even more

and i think that halving caused this huge price rise as people wants to get a lot of easy profit so they buy as much as they can bitcoins and they will keep them for price rise to sell them

at least the good news is that the $450 seems to be the bottom and it is not going to go much lower than this.

$450 has never been a bottom, so i'm not sure how you come up with that. the price is already lower than $450 and it has been there several times before.

This is just a speculation, after halving, the price could be higher than $450 for very long time.

I like that scenario. I just wish the price to be stable for some time and rise a bit and become stable again.

The only thing that you need to do with Bitcoin is selling on the right moment and yeah it can takes a long time.

NO only that selling at peak and buying at dip is good way to earn from your bitcoin rather than waiting years and selling all you have at peak.

I always try to buy at the bottom and sell at the top. But 90% of the time I get the timing very wrong.

It is better not to trade. We have to be realistic and know that the trading is for very few people to earn.

Its takes more then that, but yes thats the general idea of it.

People fail to point out some underlying stuff with price and consider what trading really means.. since most people point out only from an exchange.

Trading is anything being acquired a low efficient rate to be used back on the market.

not easy to just look at it as a reference for your trading because bitcoin is still under manipulation by a few large players of course you will experience a great loss if you panic and immediately sell your bitcoin when prices began to fall so i think you must follow what is trend on the market.

In a few years, when small fish like us have more bitcoins, the big whales will not have enough to manipulate the price.

In a few years, institutional investors will be in the bitcoin, the market capitalization will be too big to manipulate.

If the bitcoin block size is kept at 1MB next year, there will be no institutional investors as the transfer is too slow.

I just hold my bitcoin in my cold wallet and do not put them in the exchanges so the whales cannot borrow to short.

Its always good to save bitcoin in your wallet rather then keeping it any exchanges as we don't know which site will turned out to be scam, bitcoins are safe in wallet.

If other traders cannot short with your bitcoins, they will not crash the price. It is good for the long term bitcoin price.
