Positive Money is now accepting Bitcoin donations!

http://www.positivemoney.org/donate/

They are an Influential monetary reform campaign group based in the UK.
They are probably the largest and most organised money reform campaigners out there with over 300 people attending there annual meet up in London last month.

They are not libertarians, instead they are for full reserve banking and governments printing there own money instead of borrowing it.

They have some good videos explaining the problems our current monetary system is facing which are well researched and presented.

I should really have posted this up myself - I added the Bitcoin donate button to their website.
Will hopefully be adding a Bitcoin option to their online shop, but it's not their top priority right now. In the meantime, if anyone is interested in monetary reform - visit the site (positivemoney.org.uk).

Thanks for letting me know - it's broken. Probably down to them restoring a backed up version of the site. Will get it fixed.

Yup, they've removed the Blockchain.info script definitions from the document head. Sorry about this.

Legal positivists are some of the absolute stupidest people on the planet, but I wouldn't ever imagine that they could be stupid enough to think that Bitcoin aligns with their goals.

Quote
The fact that a policy would be just, wise, efficient, or prudent is never sufficient reason for thinking that it is actually the law, and the fact that it is unjust, unwise, inefficient or imprudent is never sufficient reason for doubting it. According to positivism, law is a matter of what has been posited (ordered, decided, practiced, tolerated, etc.) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_positivism)

This is unbelievable. There is a small but noisy movement of people in Finland that call themselves supporters of "economic democracy". It's basically equivalent to this positive money thing. Many of their main figures are the most anti-bitcoin people you can imagine.

Even though they have big reservations, it seems that money talks, bullshit walks. This is exactly the reason I wouldn't donate EFF or Wikipedia a single cent/penny until they accept bitcoins.

Money talks, bullshit walks.

Well said. It sounds like EFF has some house cleaning to do.

I think Bitcoin is stirring up some things in society faster than any of us could imagine at the moment. And while gov people are still trying to grasp what is actually going on Bitcoin is going hard on it in every corner of society.

interesting indeed.

In Germany it's called Vollgeld (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vollgeld), and I also suspect some of the figures involved would not be that keen about Bitcoin.

The Bitcoin donate button is working again - anyone care to try it out?  ;)

P.S. It's not such a stretch to see why monetary reform groups like Positive Money share common ground with advocates of Bitcoin. They want full-reserve banking - this means a more limited money supply and, crucially, removing the power to create money from commercial banks. Like it or not, it's still a way better ideal than the current system, even if it doesn't go as far as, say, adopting Bitcoin as a national currency.

Then maybe you should talk with Bill Still a word or two.  ;)

I sent him a tweet already, telling him he should make more effort to understand Bitcoin before he criticises it.  ;)
He's not a technologically literate person - that's a problem; people in that situation need someone they trust to explain things to them, such as why you can't 'hack' Bitcoin in the same way as you might be able to hack PayPal, or Mt. Gox...
