it is for your security purpose, in case in the future your account got hacked or something then you can provide proof of ownership by signing a message from your staked address.

In this thread, like you can see, users post Bitcoin address:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.0

It is confirmation that you are owner of this Bitcointalk account - in the case when someone will hack your account it will be proof that you are real owner of this account.

To be more sure you can also sign message from your Bitcoin address - how to do that, you can learn here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0

is it mandatory?

It is not mandatory, it is for your own protection.

Welcome to the forum. If I were you, I would start reading some previous threads posted and get up to speed on how to post and also gather some information on subjects that you might want to ask questions about. < Search is your friend > If these threads does not answer your questions, start by creating threads of your own in this newbie section.

Once you gathered enough information and reached a higher rank, you can decide to join a signature campaign or just post as normal and use the services on offer here. Good luck and watch out for the scammers. ^smile^

Hello Friend !

You should start off with learning about bitcoin blockchain and how wallets addresses and transactions work. Fiddle and experiment a bit. Use some faucets to collect a small amount of satoshi then send it to somewhere (buy a cdkey for a game or simply gamble a small amount just to see how it all works) You could even try buying some btc with a small amount of fiat money and use it to pay people for tasks you need done or vice versa you complete tasks till you can withdraw fiat amount. This will teach you how to move money around in both fiat and btc. Faucets may not pay out the best but some are not so bad and I'd u stick with the good ones you can make a small amount for a small gift or something. Even if you don't use them that much they great teaching tools. Good luck and have fun!

But a very tiny miny advice from me; As a new member (newbie), stay away from the loan section or you will soon discover the other face of people around here (newbie accounts have had a bad history on this forum or any forum, they tend to piss some people off around here, mostly). Also, try to avoid getting red trust for rubbish reasons or your lovely account will be pretty much useless.

Then you think wrong! This place is here to help you understand how to use Bitcoin. Asking in general about everything you can not help yourself. You will find answers to all questions, but you must find correct place to that - my suggestion is:
1. Option - right-high corner and search engine of Bitcointalk. If you write there correct password, in few seconds you will have answer..

You can earn some bitcoins here in forum by just sharing your thoughts while wearing a particular signature but if you want to earn average income here in signature campaign you should have an account that has a member rank then you can choose different signature campaigns in the marketplace but make sure that you will post a good quality because if you don't make a good quality post or comments there will be a chance that it will not be counted by the manager of the campaign.

Sig campaigns are good for earning spare-change. In the beginning, if you want to collect a few mBTC, then you can enroll for sig campaigns. But it is not advisable for noobs to join these campaigns. You need to rise to the rank of at least a Senior Member, to earn significant amount of coins from sig campaigns. If you are a newbie, then my advise would be to concentrate on the quality of your posts and reputation first.

This forum is good for perspective view of one aspect of bitcoin. For exact information and learning, I like to suggest you to follow bitcoin wiki pages: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page

Go through it, if you have any doubts, come back here and ask then surely you will get your answers. This might be a right way to learn new things. Forum is for discussing, here the right information may/may not be available but definitely interpretation of one topic will be available.

Yes you can learn about bitcoins here not the only the basics but also the complicated topics about bitcoins. You can try it by your own because there is a lot of topics that discuss anything you might like about bitcoin. I have a suggestion for you, Be active and try to reach a higher rank for your account by posting once in a week or two then after a few weeks you will reach a higher rank and if you reached full member rank then you can start earning from signature campaigns with a good amount.
