I'm not going to send them now, but if he acknowledges that he's interested I'm in for 500BTC.

I figure if I don't hear from him I'll auction the coins publicly and have the winner drop PayPal into his account. :)

That's acceptable to me, but I would love it so much if he had a bitcoin address, I'd probably compulsively drop coins in it after every podcast (which is really really often if anyone doesn't know).

Oh sure. I'm trying to get him to directly adopt Bitcoin; it is my preference as well.

That would be a great thing.

On a side note slightly related to Freedomain Radio Im helping get the Keene Activist Center's new website started and have setup a mybitcoin account for them in the hope they will post a public donation bitcoin button on there.

I have a response from Stefan.

My latest email to him:

Hello Sefan,

No problem. You deserve to get paid for your work. :)

One question: have you given any thought to accepting Bitcoin donations
directly on your website?

His response to my first email:

Quote
Wow thank you so much my friend! :)

Best wishes,

Subject: FDR Fundraiser Event

Hello,

I have started a fundraiser for FDR. So far there has been a lot of interest. I'm collecting Bitcoins (an alternative currency suitable for anarchists/cryptoanarchists) for the next 30 days. After 30 days, I will hand these funds over to you.

Here is the announcement on the Bitcoin forums regarding the fundraiser: https://www.bitcoin.org/smf/index.php?topic=1473.0

If you could please send me an email (themadhatter [A7] i2pmail.org), to confirm that all of this is acceptable that would be great.

I'm sure I could gather up at least $1000 (if not more) in 30 days. There are a lot of people on the Bitcoin forums who enjoy your videos/commentary/books.

Thank you,
The Madhatter

I've also contacted him about Bitcoin, but he seems to be pretty busy.

I also don't think he really cares that much about money because he made a fortune as a software entrepreneur before becoming a full-time philosopher.

But I think he would like the *ideas* behind Bitcoin. Maybe ask Satoshi to do an interview with him?

I know he made some money, but he definitely wants to raise money from listeners, he mentions it in every third podcast. It makes complete sense to me, he is doing/has done an amazing amount of labor.

Okay, I emailed Stefan and PM'd Satoshi. I think it would be really neat if Stefan could produce a youtube video that contains an interview with Satoshi. Even if it is just a video that has Stefan reading an email of questions answered by Satoshi it would help Bitcoin a lot. :)

Thanks so much, I don't really know much about bitcoin, would you mind giving me a quick summation?

The Madhatter:

Quote
Hello Stefan,

Sure. In a nutshell it is a decentralized monetary system; a 'bank' that
is fragmented over a peer-to-peer (P2P) network.

I'm sure you are familiar with Bittorrent. Bitcoin is the "bittorrent"
of money. It is the new frontier of money.

It directly takes the power away from those who like to control our
nation's central bank and puts it back into the hands of the people.

The Bitcoin network collectively handles minting of the currency, the
verification of transactions, and prevents double-spending.

Currently, there are 3 markets (forex markets) that set the exchange
rate between Bitcoin and other national currencies (and gold/silver).

The exchange rates are devised based on the supply and demand for the
Bitcoins themselves.

I can elaborate. Do you want me to explain how the minting and transfer
of the coins work?

I will donate generously as soon as I know that he will actually use Bitcoin. I think he will be very interested in Bitcoin once he understands in detail how it works.

Was it made clear that "Bitcoins are the #1 most important development in the fight for freedom in this century" to get his attention?

I facebooked him about BTCs a couple months ago and got no response, but I didn't phrase it like the above (rather, it was a long-winded explaination of BTCs with a request for an interview with Satoshi, so naturally he didn't want to do something that he didn't understand is my guess...)

What avenues have been tried? Has someone tried messaging his youTube account? What about facebook? Was it made clear that "Bitcoins are the #1 most important development in the fight for freedom in this century" to get his attention?

He'll know you are wrong since raising children peacefully is the number one important development in the fight for freedom. Bitcoin can have #2 spot though.

BrightAnarchist was referring to "developments" rather than "ideas". People can use bitcoin today, but seasteading isn't yet practical for ordinary people.

I agree with FreeMoney about raising children peacefully being number one priority though.

I'm with BrightAnarchist in putting Bitcoin as the single most important development. You can raise children peacefully and lovingly but they can still become the moral police, religious fundamentalists, hardcore nationalists, etc. Humans are weak by nature and will cling to any gods they can find, no matter how good their childhoods were. Also, profits from this strategy would take generations to be felt. As for seasteading, it only takes for the US to get together with Europe and China and decide that they need to liberate us from liberty for it to be all over.

On the other hand, Bitcoin has the potential to destroy every single government on Earth if implemented on a massive scale, and never give a chance for them to return. There would be no more asking people nicely to give you liberty, you would be able to just take it. I'd go as far as call that scenario the next stage of human civilization.

In other words, an exists that nobody in the world can close. They might thought that they could close the door, but it is moot.

Well, maybe. We don't know if bitcoin succeed or will not succeed. One thing for certain, the power that may be will have to give at some point.

Children raised without force don't grow up to force others to follow their morals. There is no one human nature. Humans are changeable and adaptable. It will take generations.

I recently got an ad on project wonderful and you can see it on nhunderground http://nhunderground.com/forum/ (http://nhunderground.com/forum/). There are a lot of sites where you can get one free because there are no other bidders. What I am doing is searching project wonderful for the keyword "liberty" and bidding on adspace. :) Its not directly bitcoin but it might ease people into it.
