It takes a lot of belief in something to hold it for so long.  I really admire the people who bought at sub-$1 and are still holding.  Even I didn't foresee the explosion of Ethereum.

I hope to replicate their legend by buying 40 cent Monero and holding it all the way up.  We will see

I must admit it's fun to get back to gpu mining and with Ethereum doing so well monthly energy costs to run are made up within the first week.  I don't have the capital to run rigs without dipping into the coffers but before too long I might not need to.  Point is, if you can hold do so but the jumps are profitable if you hit them right.
Nothing wrong with buying at $14 - a year or two from now that comment could be laughable.  Lets see.

Reminds me of the 40$ days of Bitcoin that was high then, who knows Ether could be set to launch.

the problem is your ether is vaporware with lot of competitors to come

Anyone?

I did. this was last two weeks when I was trying to buy DAO tokens. I'm glad i bought ETH from bittrex and directly deposit it to buy DAO through them as well. https://bittrex.com/balance/dao

It may just be its direction. ETH may go $50 if things go well with DAO.

There are two things you need to stay away in bitcoin theme, first is cloud mining, second is alt coins not used, including ETH. Only okay alt are ltc ans dash.
Said this, I will not buy any ETH until it actually is useful.
