Hello everyone,

I just found out about OPENDIME (https://opendime.com/) (Bitcointalk thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1452987.0)) and it seems like a really awesome product. You have to break the center part to get to the private key. That's pretty damn awesome. Anyway, I've decided to do a group buy for these, because... why not? They have a very extensive FAQ (https://opendime.com/#faq), so be sure to read it if you have any questions related to the product.

Extra costs

• We might need to pay VAT (21%) to import the OPENDIME into The Netherlands, which is the largest extra cost we have (we do not have to pay import costs).
• The disbursement fee of the used postal service (UPS charges €11.25, PostNL €17,50, EMS €17,50, etc.).
• The bubblewrapped envelopes. €4 for 10 pieces.

Terms

• The group buy won't happen if not at least 9 OPENDIME's are ordered.
• The group buy will be closed for new participants when May ends or interest drops.
• Once the group buy is closed for new participants the final price will be determined (potential discounts might be applied at that time) and split between the participants.
• Any BTC that is left over (because the package wasn't checked, the BTC value went up, etc) will be evenly distributed between the participants.
• If we are somehow short of BTC, I'll cover it up front. The amount of BTC will be evenly distributed between participants. Your package won't be sent if you don't pay your part of the debt. If you don't pay at all, your OPENDIME will be auctioned off to cover the cost and any leftovers are kept.
• Terms can be changed at any moment, so please keep track of them (important announcement will be posted in the thread).

It's based on weight. As long as I don't know how heavy an OPENDIME is, I cannot tell you how much shipping will be.

I've got a few questions - (I skimmed through the FAQ, might've missed something)

- Are these pre-loaded?
- I understand the concept of "breaking" the middle part, but does that mean that it's a one-time use?

- They are unloaded, you can fund them yourself if you want
- one-time use

Ah, if these were collectors items I would defenitely buy a few.

But it's a little out of my price range for a one-time use item. To me it seems like a $18 tx fee :-/

I also don't know very many people irl that I don't trust that use bitcoin.

It's meant to be used as a piggy bank. If you plan to break the center quickly then this is nothing for you. :P

Oh, that kind of concept. I was thinking of it being as it is advertised - A physical manifestiation of bitcoin that can be physically verified, given, then withdrawn from.

I feel that if I purchase it, I'll deposit all my bitcoin, then make up some bizarre reason to take it out again.

I'm hereby posting the prices for the OPENDIME units. These prices do not include shipping from me to you. We will deal with that aspect once they arrive. I've decided to do it like this as the current Bitcoin value is not stable enough to know what it will be once we receive these items (and to be honest, I have no idea how quickly they will be shipped). And there is, of course, the fact that I have a lot of items from different users in storage, that could be combined with this shipment.

I would like to quote the following two terms, as they are quite important at the moment:

Okay, so, the OPENDIME units have been ordered and the next batch is expected to ship in July. I did forgot to incorporate shipping from CoinKite to me into my spreadsheet (which is $50), so I'll have to incorporate that in the final shipping price. No need to worry about that right now.

Nope. I recently asked about an update and got the same answer as before. They'll ship somewhere in July.

The factory is running a little late, but it still should be able to ship before the end of the month (July).

Guess what I got today? Exactly, a package filled with OpenDime's! Which means that I can start shipping these out. Please send me a message with your address so I can reply with a shipping quote. If I have anything else that is yours, tell me as well, so we can talk about combining items.
