Wowza!  I'm definitely surprised to see this spike--not sure if you're correct about people not dumping, but I bet you this is going to get bitcoin back into the mainstream news.  At least for a while.

There is a $50 gap between China and the rest. I think the closest other exchanges will come to China is perhaps $20 if everything keeps going as it is right now.

yes dump to only 524$ (current price), bitcoin seems really strong with all the buy support coming from china and currrent halving hype. And this is also after lisk and DAO hype couldn't go nice.

The price could continue for some time. This is a rise after 6 months consolidation. It could rise high.

Do you think those who dumped DAOs are buying back BTC thus the reason for this spike?
Although this is a good news, I'm a bit wary  if they all suddenly dump, I'll miss the chance to earn few bucks. It kept me up i wanna see when it happen.

well the price is a little bit lower at the moment but i think it will keep on growing after a few hours because it definitely wasnt just a temporary growth and we will see some bigger spikes in the future for sure

im holding all my coins i have at the moment because i know that the price is going to climb at a very rapid pace in the near future thus allowing all the investors to make some money

We have seen a jump from $444 to $533. Isn't that enough to say that it's a cracking price? It's an increase of $89 in just a week which is commendable. I know that the price jump isn't steady but bitcoins have never been predictable but this rise is definitely worth mentioning.

I was at a huuuge loss of over 25k as BTC went down to the 200s and all hell was broken loose. Hodled hodle and will hodl :)

Holding your coins for the long term requires you to have a solid amount of patience. And yes, patiences does pay off. May I ask at what price you bought at to be in such a large loss when the price dropped to the $200's as you said?

I would like to see today when BTC breaks the 4000 CNY at huobi. :)

That's a pretty sharp increase indeed, but Stochastics are both showing overbought although not yet crossing. I assume if it's a bubble, the technicals don't really matter...

I bought my first bitcoins as the price was around $200. When I remember correctly this was in 2013. That saved a bit my ass. Then the MTGOX rocket started and I smelled the "big money", sent almost all of my savings to Bitstamp and bought some coins @600 and then some more @700 and things looked very well, the price went up to $1200 and I was happy. But then after that, all the crashes started and I got more and more nervous but there was no other choice. I was not going to sell with a loss so I hodled through all the hard times. At the moment I am even at a tiny bit of a plus :)

I know the price can go down as fast as it went up but I will hodl through.

Bitcoin amazingly gained +%18  value in a few days. I remember 450$'s like it was an hour ago. I hope we are not being "Goxed" this time or else it will end very very very bad this time.

The whole bitcoin community just can't survive another Gox incident. It will be over for good.

Well i hope the community is wiser and has learned from it's mistake. It's clearly the increase of the price due to the block halving. I can't find another reason for the price to go so high (550 dollar at the moment )

bitcoin price is always higher there than it actually is on other exchanges as far as i know, to be honest the price might not even reach that price as anything can happen with it

Yeah, now the real time for buying has been started now no one will doubt on the price increase now the price will high up and will touch the moon as soon as possible.
Everyone has waited for a very long period and some were dumping and other pumping all of them were waiting for the halving month and now when everyone came to the month of halving they are no more dumping the value of it as everyone has a good amount of bitcoin and no one want to lose their invested money in it.

I would take some ease in buying a lot of bitcoin. The price is good but we don't know if it will hold tomorrow or go to the moon.
Buying small amounts can help in these cases.

Everyone with smart money buys before a pump like this started... You basically lost out on 100 usd already if you didn't buy last week.

When markets move sideways and a floor has formed, it can be a good time to buy.

In this case, below 440 was tested a few times and it didn't fall below it for long. Clear signs of bottom to me and therefore I bought at that price.

Looks like the pump is over for now, let's see where the consolidation goes. Though I would not be surprised if we get another rally this week.

barely moved is relative.

sure, it's more expensive than it was a few weeks/months back but the real rally is yet to come, and you won't even notice this small bump in the grand scheme of things.

that doesn't mean i'll sell my coins cheaply though, I do not plan on selling my bitcoin at all, not even when the price increases by 10 times.

i always thought the "to the moon" rise will come shortly after the halving like in a month after that, and i haven't yet changed my mind i still think this is just another step like before in each $100 range we get stuck for a while so i think it is possible that ~$520 is the new stable price until halving.

Low 100s were where we're at in spring of 2013 (after the boom and bust) and then you see what happened afterwards in the fall. Deva vu much? Use your imagination on what comes next at this point. 4 figs coming your way so don't be a luddite.

There is clearly a bubble. You must be blind if you can't see that. The rise happened is very very very sharp and  there is no way it will hold long time there.

This is a nice  time to get back loses for the ones haven't panic sold their coins at the past dumps and very nice time for the people who bought from 400 or 450's to collect their profits which is near %50. Yummy.

It does look like a bubble but with the halving coming up theres no reason why it cant hold at this price if miners decide they dont want to sell any lower. The all you will have is bag holders from previous ath maybe selling at a loss.

This is i think the beginning of the rise of bitcoin.. because block halving is nearly done.. so guys don't panic this not the best time to sell some bitcoins..

 I'm still not betting on it - but it's a lovely rise so far and I certainly wouldn't mind being wrong.

It is very wise not to bet on it. The price is too volaitle. For us, it is better just to hold it for the long term.

Not a long ago we were panicking because it went under 600, and not a long ago we were celebrating 533 as an huge spike. Right now we are back at 660 and climbing. This is Bitcoin! Buy and hold.

That's how it really is, volatility is so sensible. It keeps on changing and no one can predict now what will really happen when halving come. I just hope the dynamic value of bitcoin results to benefit us.

I stopped trading a few months ago. The price is too volatile. I just buy and hold the coin and wait for the price rise.

It is better to buy and hold and in the mean time, use some bitcoin. Trading in exchanges does not help adoption.

I am doing the same. I just found the price dropped 10% yesterday. The price is too unpredictable for us.

In the short term, the price could be unpredictable. But in the long term, the price will rise eventually.

The price is around $670 now. But I hope it will not rise too much. It is better for the price to stay below $800.

The price may down a bit but it will recover days later and climb it's way again to 4-digits value. There will be an ups and downs because that's how volatility works but expect the ending value we have at the end of the year is at 4-digit.

There is small up and down toady. There is nothing to worry. As long the price rises in long term, I am happy.

For the last 6 years, if you take the 200 days moving average price, the price always rises in every 3 year period.

I promote the bitcoin to my friends and relatives. Only one of them has bought some bitcoin since the promotion.

Bitcoin has shown fantastic recovery healthy after this massive drop. In no time we will be back to 600+, but watch out for a massive ETC pump that will extract some BTC too from the market. No one wants to miss the up and coming ETC rise and potential ETH takeover to reach 0.01+

The price could reach $600 in 10 days. The price could be $700 by the end of September. It might be $900 by year end.

More than 10 days has passed, but the price is still around $580.
