I don't even understand how it is possible for something computerized to be that slow.

0.1 orders on the orderbook  .....

Seems there would have to be hundreds of thousands of them.  For a computer, 9 minutes is practically an eternity.

I wonder if it can have anything to do with the new platform ?

I havent tested it yet, but the old mobile client didnt work with Jelly bean android mobiles, this been an issue since october november.

I doubt it, these delays would have to be on the order processing side (matching engine, etc.) which shouldn't be affected by the website itself in any significant way.

Shit. If this is what 4 mil USD daily volume pays for, maybe it's a good thing Coinlab's taking over  ;D

Thought they were just state side banking for GOX and not order matching.

My orders have been pending for 15 minutes.  Still no action from MtGox.

Every minute, the lag is increasing by a minute...  :-\

with lag times this long, they should halt trading. The lack of information is now so acute that it endangers the system. If you can handle the trade volume, they should halt. Not lets a damn of un-cancellable orders pile up behind it.

One of my orders just went though, with bitcoin's price falling $3 since I set the order.  Took 30 minutes to execute.

The price is bouncing between $37 and $40 right now as orders are worked through.  It's simply unviable as a trading platform at the moment.

I tried to put a buy order in when looking at the number of bids at $35, but as soon as I put the order in (and still pending) the price crashed again.  My order hasn't executed (now way above market price).  It's impossible to trade like this when you're looking at data that could, potentially, be half an hour old or more.

I did.  Put in a market order to sell at $42, by the time it executed the order went through at $38.  Price is bouncing around $34 to $35 right now so things turned out all right, but who knows?  Could be $30 or $40 in seconds at this rate.

That suck big time, there's huge jumps 45, 35, 45, ...  all happening in a minute or two, but lag is killing the whole thing...

Really sad all together. A normal selloff brings down gox (with a terrible lag), brings down moody, bitcoin charts etc etc.

It is impossible to trade in conditions like this (at least once you tried trading something smoother) and this is the next major obstacle to fix before Bitcoin will have anything to do with Wall Street.

This mtGOX lag is unbearable.

They keep the same BS "working on it" This is a side job for someone i bet.

Yeah we've seen it time and time again, Gox just simply isn't equipped to handle these types of situations.  The only real way to capitalize is to have your bids already in place (maybe set at 10%-20% below market).  Anyone place a buy at Coinbase?  Curious if those will go through.

Isn't the matching engine made in php ? Php is magnitudes slower at data processing than C/C++. The whole matching and trading engine should be replaced.

Its not just about failed trading engine. The whole concept of trading BTC is just a big fail atm. When you travel to a foreign country, do you exchange to their currency at your forex broker? Same goes with gold.

This remains to be separated in the Bitcoin world.

With all the new accounts coming to Mt. Gox, it's going to be a bigger mess than it already is if they don't upgrade to something that can handle serious volume. We are at the stage where it is really essential that they do this.

Bitcoinity is reporting 29 minutes and frozen.

I know professional exchanges such as the NASDAQ, NYSE, ASX, etc sometimes have down times, but MtGox seems to choke on orders on a regular basis.

Gox is a joke, I hope a different exchange overtakes them. They have the worst service and charge the highest fees.

I don't think a different exchange will ever overtake them.  They have liquidity :(

I switched to Bitstamp today. This lag is really annoying.

Aaaand we're back!

i'm working in an auto-trading bot with simple rules that counts on the version 2.0 of mtgox API and makes use of the TICKER_FAST function. If anybody interested in beta-testing it I'll be glad to share it ;D

the only time you should deal with mtgox is when there is a significant price difference within the other exchanges. Otherwise leave those guys alone, seriously
