So as in title, Is it possible to buy really large BTC amounts? like a million $? What was the largest amount of BTC you bought at once?

Of course it is possible. From personal experience you can buy tens of thousands from single sellers at places like localbitcoin, otherwise you could buy it through big exchanges like coinbase. I think any trades over $10,000 daily have to be registered with tax authorities but most transactions will probably be required to be logged for government agencies somewhere.

Indeed buying large amounts of bitcoins can bought the best at localbitcoins dealers due to the fact that they are using low fees and are trusted.

Yes, any amount of bitcoins is possible provided that you have equivalent fiat and the bitcoins of that equivalent is available for sale.

However most of the exchanges have some kind of limits where we can’t purchase or transact more than certain amount per day, so you can use multiple exchanges to deal in one day if you desperately want to acquire coins.

I’m not aware of any tax aspects as bitcoin is not yet recognized in my country, you should research about it before taking any major step.

But OP is asking about buying a million dollars worth in one go.
I think the seller might be checking to see where those funds come from. I doubt they want to be part of a money laundering scheme by the feds or interpol with drug dealing money.

It is possible from you local markets on a low cost for high volume of bitcoin. But exchanging fiat into btc or "buying btc" may not significantly give you large volume with respect to the amount of money you put in to buy them.

However some exchanges have limitations on btc bought/sold. Taxation aspects of bitcoin is shady in my country and hence be cautious about that too and make proper inquiries.

While I’m pretty sure that you can buy that amount of bitcoin but I have no doubt that will bring a lot of attention to yourself from exchanges and federal agencies.

anyways it is possible if you have the money and can find someone willing to sell you that much bitcoin. it definitely is not possible through regular ways like buying it on exchanges.

there are also auctioned bitcoins that government has seized, they are in one batch and you have to buy it all or nothing and it is in great sizes.

but usually when you want to buy this much bitcoin you would do it slowly and with smaller amounts over a period of time preferably in the dips.

Yes it's possible but there normally use auction for that big amount transaction so it will not big affect with the market , if you buy it from exchange there will be big happen and the price will go high and need to follow the rulea first of the exchange.

Yes this x100. Ofcourse it is possible to invest as much as you want in bitcoin if you find sellers. But a million at once is not smart. So I agree they would do it in small stacks and most likely in the dips which means getting even more $ out of your $!

i think yes its possible if you have big funds in your wallet. but for save play, i think we can buy in a few amount first, and not directly in big amount of BTC that can makes our bank suspicious with our transaction and they will check it for security purpose.

make several transaction to buy bitcoin to avoid if bad situation is happen and don't forget to buy in less than $1000 or maybe in $500 so bank will not suspicious with this transaction.

I do not think, that it is possible. Some larger BTC volumes you can buy from BTC mining pools or BTC mining farms, but even then BTC amount is limited to BTC mining capacity and the sales price too. I never heard that someone buy/sale million in BTC somewhere. ;)

I think it's possible but just in seperate smaller batches though, to just dump a million at one place I don't think that would be possible. And if it would be it would have to go to hell of a verification for that amount of money too.

it is possible to buy bitcoin in large amount  as mentioned above coinbase  and also you can use localbitcoin to buy at larger amount , but thing is there tax liability when you are buying in larger quantity , best is to buy at smaller batches which will be helpful to have proper transaction.

Thats what  im thinking too that he could possibly bought  huge volume of bitcoin to those  mining pools and farms because  exchangers would definitely supply  huge amount i guess and also they have a limit. Even those miners and pools would not able to produce such   bulk volumes.

Yes you can as long as you can afford it.

Big whales are making such large amount of coins when they are buying.

Same question as pooya87, are you planning to buy that much? Well, honestly, even if it is possible I don't think that it's a good idea to buy all at once just like others have mentioned. And there's a higher possibility that you'll be having a hard time looking for a trusted seller that can sell that amount, maybe you can buy it directly from a miner.

It is really possible. I haven't bought large number of bitcoin. I try the best to earn rather than buying. Its truly possible to buy large amount as you can find traders who provide very big transactions which needs to be made in personal rather than banking or other means of transaction.

I guess so. I think websites that sell BTC must have millions or thousands of dollars worth of BTC. If the website you're buying in doesn't have enough funds to sell you a million dollar worth of BTC, then maybe you can partition your transactions. Maybe 300K in one site, 200K at another, and so on. I've never bought a large amount of BTC myself because I'm not rich in real life so this answer is just based on common sense and not on experience.

Of course it is possible, we can buy bitcoin a million dollars of course we buy on markets who can be trusted for large amount of bitcoin. I have bought about $900 it was largest amount of bitcoin for me.

Not sure if was already posted, but usually large trades are done personally. If you were to purchase 10k bitcoin on coinbase, you would drive the price up like crazy. I know of a few "Whales" that worked a deal out, agreed on the price and gave them a cashiers check. Doing it this way won't affect the exchange rate and the buyers ends up getting a better deal.  I can't remember the URL (I think it was attached to an exchange), but you could put in how many bitcoin you wanted to buy and it would tell you how much it was going to cost, they factored in the rise in price that was surely to come with a huge order.

I'd say it's possible if you could find a whale to sell them to you privately.   If you tried to buy a million bitcoins on an exchange or even multiple exchanges,  you'd drive the price up unless you bought in small amounts over a longish period of time.

At localbitcoins you can do lotta arranges, but I think here it's not the best place to explain this...but as you can see in the blockchain log, there are number of transactions with large amounts. This is every day costume...

Yes it is possible you can buy a large amount of bitcoin and for bitcoin millions of dollar are not larger, and about me, I have not yet bought a bigger amount of bitcoin, I only earn and buy some amount of bitcoin, when I will have some bigger amount of money and I will not need them then I will put them in bitcoin.

Yes its possible you can buy bitcoin in any amount , it is depend on yourself that you can afford bitcoin in any amount large or small and i think it is good time to buy bitcoin in large amount and i am sure it will be profitable in the near future for yourself .

You are right for bitcoin even millions of dollars are smaller, bitcoin itself is a bigger currency and you can invest any amount of dollars in it or your local currency of what you want, and in return it will also beneficial for you as the value of fiat do not increase that much at the speed of which bitcoin is increasing.

I also think large amounts are handled in person as it makes things a bit easier. If I were to buy a very large amount I probably wouldn't do it online (atleast not at once) but rather with cash or if I must do it online then in smaller amounts.

Off course anyone can buy large amount of BTC but for that you need that much principle amount to invest as well as have trusted and secure exchanger where you can bought that much higher amount of BTC at a single time.

You can buy a lot of bitcoins on all kind of ways but I think one of the safest methods to do this is by localbitcoins, its safe and also secure you can meet with the dealer in person to talk about them and also about the fee's.

You will need a lot of FIAT if you want to buy them in one trade. Or,you can buy slowly and slowly will you get to your target. Or, you can find a bagholder and agreen upon a price and buy them as a whole. The easiest way is buying from the exchanges.

I think it will be dependent on the exchange or on the source from where you want to buy bitcoins, on larger exchanges you will get on the same price all of the coins within a shortest time, I mean instant, but for to be in smaller exchanges it will be a little harder.

There are a couple ways but I would indeed do it part for part honestly because if the bitcoin falls or something you will lose a lot of money.
If you buy it partly this risk is less more than a one time buying and you also will than not lose all your money at once.

Definitely yes, buying large or big amounts is possible .You can buy as much as you want as long as if you have big amount to spend in million $ fiat to bitcoins ,but somehow other exchanges which you can buy a maximum amount for that particular day ,then you can buy again tomorrow .many big investors tend to buy big amounts for just saving and waiting for the bitcoin price to rise up. My largest bought bitcoin amount is around $120 -$130 only . Then making it grow.

Ya its possible as i have seen many time people buying bitcoin when their price is low and they have bought it in large quantity like 5 or 10 btc.About two month ago ,there was a guy selling bitcoin worth of millions.i guess no one had bought from him as he want a large sum of money.

yes it is possible but first of all you have to find the exchange who have big volume market for buying bitcoin because with small exchange there will be difficult to buy large BTC amounts maybe bitfinex or kraken is good place to do so

Not sure what is the maximum but i know its possible to buy very large amounts some resellers sell it and they require tons of verification as far as I know but theres always a limit per seller what you can buy so to buy tons you could try buying from different places.

I would do the same thing  on buying  part by part which you could observe the bitcoins price so that you could earn profits but i assume that OP want to buy on bulk  and  its possible in some exchangers but they do have a limit  per day which you could buy day by day until you reached the desired amount.

Bitfinex as far as I know was recently hacked and they lost bitcoins worth millions of dollars, so I don´t think is a good idea to do any trades with them

Yeah it is possible to buy bitcoin in large amount and it depend on you that how much bitcoin to buy you can afford so you can buy bitcoin in any amount .

I don't think you can buy large amounts of bitcoin at places like coinbase or localbitcoins. Maybe on an exchange, but you would need a seller or sellers that are willing to sell that much.

I don't think that it has any problem to buy the bitcoins, because you know big merchants and also investors always buy the big amount of bitcoins, and they have no problem in it, But i have never experience of it, my biggest amount of buy the bitcoin is that 20 BTC. Because it is enough for me and i have no problem to buy it. 

yes it is possible to buy large BTC if you buy in exchange you can look at the max withdrawal cause exchange have max withdrawal in a day, if you want to buy in same time prefer to separate your transaction in a couple exchange so you can withdrawal your BTC to your wallet in same time too , i dont know about the tax because i never buy bitcoin in a large amounts, but sorry do you have a million $  ;)

For sure it's possible to buy large amounts but I think it requires some ways. For example from a site you could probably buy alot with a limit though and alot of verification.
But if you buy in person then there is no limit and everything is possible so I think buying locally in person is the best way for large amounts.

Buying really large btc amounts is possible but just not from one reseller most likely since they will not have that capital or trust.
If you buy from multipel sources then you can buy as much as you want most likely.

The problem with buying large amounts through an exchange is that you will need to verify your identity, which is often a very slow and tedious process.
It is very hard to buy bitcoins anonymously.

Off course if you want to put all of your money into the bitcoin you can do it why would you go all in with your money because bitcoins are very unpredictable i wont do it if i was you!

the OP can buy large bitcoin amounts in coinbase or localbitcoins or OP friends but maybe OP can make buy in few parts with many seller to get large BTC amounts and of course there is different rate between one seller with other sellers, and OP should make negotiation about the rate then OP can buy that bitcoin.

As long as you have the money you can buy how many bitcoin you want but there is only 1 restriction on how many BTC you will buy,  You cannot buy the amount exceeding the current number of available Bitcoin.  As of me i cannot buy a whole amount of Bitcoin though im trying to accumulate one by doing some task that can reward me some satoshi.

Agree. You can earn a decent amount of bitcoin in joining campaigns that is really enough to invest in trading it doesnt mean that if you have a low money to invest bitcoin in trading you cant enter it is a good start with that so that you couldn't loose much

Of course it is possible to buy really large amounts of BTC. Find a Bitcoin wallet website that has been there for a long time. I'm pretty sure they have enough funds now to sell a large amount of BTC. If you don't want that, you can also look for people that sells BTC. Buy all of their stocks. If it isn't enough, just look for another seller until you complete the amount that you wanted.

Depend on the campaign where are you belong and as i've see theirs only few campaign who's paying good for now since the existing one nowadays are low paying ones, and don't just really on sig only there's so many oppurtunity here in furom where you can actually earn more decent amount and can be used it for another different businesses or investments. And for that we must need to work more harder to earn more money.

I wouldn't use an exchange and I wouldn't use some random off localbitcoins even if they did have access to that number of coins. I'd use proper professionals such as Genesis Trading. That's what they specialise in and they have a proper reputation to keep alive.

A lot of exchanges have enough liquidity to buy a few mil, like Bitfinex (http://www.bltfinex.com/) or Bitstamp (https://www.bitstamp.net). If you really wanted to do some extreme amounts, there's always OTC (over the counter) - for example at ItBit.

Just buy maybe in poloniex or in yobit, just do it based on your own choice but make sure you will only buy on a reputable sites. That is your money so you should take care of that and also so you can start investing or trading.

Buying really large btc amounts is most definitely possible it just depends where you are buying. If it's one of those automated websites then probably you cant buy above a certain amount but from resellers who are trading you could buy alot at the same time for sure.

The risk must be always there. But you are dealing in person, you might get chances to solve your risks in appropriate way, like getting small amounts and paying for them. It must be effective way as there won't be any big transaction fees for many small trades.

Of course you can as long as you have someone that can sell you that large amount of bitcoin. But I think it is hard to find someone that will going to sell you that large amount of bitcoin since most of the bitcoin users are saving their bitcoins and waiting for it's price to go high again for them to earn more profit that's why it's gonna hard for you to find that someone especially the price of bitcoin right now is too low. They can't afford to sell their bitcoin without getting any big profits from it.

I think for the Op it will be complicated because of the deposit from his bank account as the banks often creates issues relating to that matter. especially in backward and third class countries where a low qualified banks work.

Like he said yes a large amounts of bitcoin can be bought but finding a seller selling a large chunk of bitcoin at once is very difficult alot of people claiming that they are selling a large amount of btc might be scamming. The problem is not the amount of bitcoin you can carry and yes there is a maximum number in bitcoin but anyways that's not the case. The problem is that resellers will probably not just sell you a thousand coins at once without some verification.

Hmm police can't really knock on your door for that though but if I'd buy a large amount i would atleast have your reasons ready and a explanation how you got that money cause that's usually what they start to ask you how you got that amount of money etc etc.

sometimes if you're going to make a transaction through your banks especially a large amount you will need the government permit but if you don't and still doing that maybe you will be interogated by the police as soon as they will come to your house,government always monitoring every citizens bank transaction

Depending on where you buy it though I can imagine if you buy alot of bitcoin at once they will need verification cause they can't afford any mistakes to lose such a big amount. Also the authorities might question you why you need that many bitcoin.

local Exchange certainly has a lot of bitcoin, just like at my local Exchange is easy to buy large amounts of bitcoin.
you have to support anyone who would buy the bitcoin in large amounts, it's good to make the price increases. It does not matter if the price is stable. because the current price is still relatively inexpensive, compared to the future prices will be higher.

How can it not succeed??  You having money and in an exchange with lots of Bitcoin sellers?  If you have  money you can buy as much bitcoin as  you want as long as your money accommodate the price needed to buy them.  Just visit trusted exchanges that have BTC/USD  trading pair and you are good.

You can indeed do this and you are right about this but the fact is also that the most sellers do not have such a large stock due to that its also difficult to succeed with buying from one dealer with large amounts.

Well honestly we don't know or we are not 100% sure that the price will increase more if he buys bitcoins right now.

There are no restrictions, you can buy as much Bitcoins as you like as long as you have enough fiat to pay for it. But I don't think that is wise to buy large amounts using your bank account because you may face the problems with bank, tax revenue or anti money laundering service. So it's better to split the wanted amount in smaller transactions and also to use face to face buying.

I think local bitcoin is one of the good place to buy bitcoins.. or much better go to your local bitcoin exchange just like here in my country we have a online wallet local version here in my place that we can buy bitcoins or exchange it into fiat..

But the problem if you buy bitcoins right now it is high price.. and i think this is not good path to buy right now it is better to buy bitcoins if the price will goes low.. or even 630 below.. so that you can get profit if the price will be back in the present price..

In my own ideology of life I dont owe anybody any explanation on how I spend my money so far I didnt make it in an illegal way, or deny someone else what is rightfully thiers. The same way with Bitcoin so far you have the resources, then there should not be any limitation on the amount you want to buy. If you are trading in an exchange, I think there is a minimum limit in buying bitcoin,  but about the maximum, I think exchange allows you to buy as long as your funds can accomodate it.  I don't know about the amount of money transfers you will be able to do in 1 day, so probably the amount of bitcoin will be limited in daily basis because of the fund alllowable to be moved everyday.

Like in Kraken someone is able for a deposit up to $500,000. and that's really huge amount for buying BTC with such amount. but for buying a huge amount the providing a verification are be any responsibility for us. and without it just get a limitation for deposit a such amount.

the limits depend on the method you want to use. and there is always some kind of restriction in any method that you are planning on using for buying anything in the world, sometimes it is the exchange that limits the maximum amount and sometimes it is your bank that doesn't let you withdraw large amounts and most of the time there aren't really any seller that can sell you really large amounts.

Some dealers on there are also selling large amounts so that is a good option and its also trusted.

Actually, last time i bought 10 to 12 bitcoin from trust able exchange before the halving. But now i have been sold them, and still i have not bought a big amount of bitcoins since when. Yes it is possible to buy bitcoin any amount you want even if it is 1000 pieces of bitcoin then you can still buy that massive amount but make sure that you will take care of your money because those  big number of bitcoins worth a lot of fiat so if i were you i will just buy on the sites that have good feedbacks from their costumers to assure its legitness.

I think by "large BTC amounts" the OP meant, like, thousands of them. 10BTC is nothing compared to how much the whales hold. Yes or we can also buy from localbitcoins since there is in built escrow and hence no chance of scam plus we can meet the person in real life and pay him and hence very easy really. Though i never tried myself trading this way yet.

Even if you have the enough money to buy a large amount of btc it is still very hard to find a good supplier that is willing to give that amount, the only way you can do that is by buying for different exchanges and then summing up to save them securely, but still it is not a very profitable way to do so because they sell at a high price.

No, buying in small quantity could be a perfect solution to OP. Large amount of bitcoins does not necessarily to be bought with single transactions. Moreover it is not at all recommended to deposit some large fiat amount to buy bitcoins. Doing in small quantity and multiple times always will guarantee many security features too.

i would prefer to buy it gradually instead to buy it all at once , too much risk have to take if you do it when you have a plan to buy in big scale. but however it's all always up to you , if you are the true risk taker then go for it and watch it, don't be greedy and don't easy to get panic. the market would react a little bit hard .
