The ship date was always the 12th. Hopefully Bitmain took the festival into account when they planned their S9 ship dates. It would be a shame for the early buyers if this was a repeat of the S7 B1 late shipping debacle. My guess is that they will start shipping when they get back after the festival smack dab on the 12th, but nothing else will happen until then, including no new S9 batch announcements. What this translates to is the S9 public release will have no impact on the hash rate till somewhere around the 15th. That means a little over half this adjustment period will be unaffected by the S9. Unless of course they're already shipping to the big farms and letting the little guys wait. My hope for having is it finnaly get's some of the old machines off the network. A cut in in profits will hurt us all... but old gear that has remained on network might finnaly come off who knows. I do agree we will see postive eventually as some will replace with new gear like S9 and for same amount of electricity will get a heck of a lot more hash. The biggest thing I don't believe the conspiracy for is I think if someone has 30 percent they would want it online hashing away before having. Just a lot of profit lost if they leave it turned off. As far as value this period were starting around 580 on coinbase. So still a decent gain from last period hopefully we see some positive movement on price this time to. I think with the way the last Period went that the correction will have been close to correct. Today we are tracking in a +4% to +8% band but way too few blocks in the Period to Date for that to mean anything. I am still intrigued by the Day last Period that Bitfury was down which dropped the Period to Date down from -4% to -5%. It was then in the following 2 days that we saw the steady climb up to -2%? The coin recovered some of it's previous Days loss. I guess breaking through $600 is going to take a few attempts. But with a cycle of 2016 for difficulty adjustment, that doesn't go into 420,000 without a fraction. So as I figure it, well finish the current adjustment period, and then get another full 2016 block period, and then the "halving" will happen a third of the way through that period. SP20's and S5's have to still have legs at this price, assuming they are paid for. Or perhaps it's the best time to SELL some older gear. In my experience, when BTC price is high, older gear fetches a better price (in fiat).

If it's accurate, they really haven't sold many units. There are probably a lot of folks on the sidelines waiting for the BTC cost of the S9s to go down. I'm one of them. I really want to buy, but can't justify spending more BTC on a miner than it will likely make in a year. Bitmain must know that their pricing choices have limited sales. So it's either intentional and part of their master plan, or out of their control (maybe they can't produce enough chips). My guess is that they're happy to mine with their own S9s up to the halving, while at the same time enjoying the premium that they're getting from early adopters of a limited release. If BW ever does release publicly, Bitmain can respond then with lower priced batches, killing the competition (again). Until then they can cruse into the halving with high S9 unit prices. In the meantime, BTC prices have shot up resulting in a new high point in mining profitability. If this price holds (or goes up) my original estimate of around 140 PH/s going offline after the halving is probably too high. Older machines will remain profitable, so why turn them off. So people who are depending on a significant difficulty reduction after the halving for their ROI calculations are probably in for a surprise. But with higher BTC prices maybe they won't care. As an aside, why does Bitmain reuse receive addresses? Seems lazy on their part and possibly dangerous because it leaks sales information. I did not included one massive 4811 BTC deposit though, but I added 3 times about 80 BTC deposit even though the max should be 20 BTC with 5 units. Since 2016-06-09 to now I counted additional 228 possible S9 (batch 2?) So the 600 S9s does represents about half percent of additional network hashrate - nothing to worry about at all - it seems pretty insignificant number of S9 sold so far. Thanks for doing this math. If it's accurate, they really haven't sold many units. There are probably a lot of folks on the sidelines waiting for the BTC cost of the S9s to go down. I'm one of them. I really want to buy, but can't justify spending more BTC on a miner than it will likely make in a year. Bitmain must know that their pricing choices have limited sales. So it's either intentional and part of their master plan, or out of their control (maybe they can't produce enough chips). My guess is that they're happy to mine with their own S9s up to the halving, while at the same time enjoying the premium that they're getting from early adopters of a limited release. If BW ever does release publicly, Bitmain can respond then with lower priced batches, killing the competition (again). Until then they can cruse into the halving with high S9 unit prices. In the meantime, BTC prices have shot up resulting in a new high point in mining profitability. If this price holds (or goes up) my original estimate of around 140 PH/s going offline after the halving is probably too high. Older machines will remain profitable, so why turn them off. So people who are depending on a significant difficulty reduction after the halving for their ROI calculations are probably in for a surprise. But with higher BTC prices maybe they won't care. As an aside, why does Bitmain reuse receive addresses? Seems lazy on their part and possibly dangerous because it leaks sales information. My goal when I got into mining a little over a year ago was to have 1BTC to hold onto through the halving and see what happens. I am hoping for a under 5 percent week either way it's hard to complaign with BTC's current price on coinbase in 670. So a little up/down with getting so close to 700 but still some good numbers. Hopefully we push it even further would really like to crush through 700 by end of period and have it as new base. But even if we are high 600's I will be pretty happy. I doubt many will turn off miners after halving, the price should be big enought for most miners to continue with mining. Seems like earlier Luke-jr concerns about halving and downspiral of the mining industry and difficulty should not happen.

When we do the ½ ing I am going to restructure the game. First step is to change prize to $50 each jump that starts next jump. I have some other ideas on what to do. But the positive thing I see is 700 seemed like new base. It has hanged around it. But around 6 hours or so ago it did dive some for sure - http://www.coindesk.com/price/ . And slowly up a little bit after. Had hoped it would be around $750 but we seem to be testing $700 again, bounced off that to around $710 at the moment, here's hoping.....
