I am using windows 8.1 on my laptop, there is free upgrade available till July 29. What would you guys suggest me to upgrade to windows 10

If your laptop has pretty good specs, like 2GB of RAM or more, I would upgrade to the Windows 10 platform because it is much more stable than the Windows 8.1 OS.

in my opinion ,windows 10 is very better than windows 8 , is more applicable and more stable than the windows 8 ! so if you can , upload and use windows 10 .
for me windows 7 better than both ( 8 and 10 ) :D

Yes, If your machine have the space and compatibility then go for it. I am using it, and its cool.

That being said, I use windows 10 at work and have had no problems with it so far
At home I prefer Linux

I suggest you to upgrade your PC to Windows 10.

For the love of God, if you care about privacy when using bitcoins and privacy with your transactions don't upgrade from windows 7.
Windows 10 is utmost fail. Your offline data will be recorded. If you are programmer, you know what to do.

I was using 8.1 but I fucked my OS with a virus. Then I re-installed and it asked me if I want w-10 or not. I picked to go for it and since then (about 2 years) I have been using w-10. I had no problems, very fast and very easy to use. It will want you to activate it. I think you can use your w-8 key. If you don't have any keys, you can use kmspico to activate it.

in my opinion you can always use with 2GB but still more is better, plus in my opinion you can use non-modified version of windows, it works more smoothly and errors free, download it from getintopc (http://igetintopc.com/), it works fine for me without any additions or removals.

Windows 10 is better than Windows 8.1?? From my experience Windows 8.1 was much more stable than Win10, and has a lot less privacy invasive stuff.

RDP background bug is plain stupid in Win10, and what is more funny is that the same bug exists in Win server 2016

Just go with the upgrade buddy... i am using windows 10 and its better, faster and easier than windows 8. Also it comes with a pretty strong windows defender, I dont even need any other antivirus etc.. Recommended..

Definitely upgrade if your specs can run Windows 10 without problem ! I'm using Windows 10 since the first free update before that I was with Windows 7.. never liked the 8 but you must update to 10 for sure  !

in my opinion windows 10 is much better and even more stable than windows 8.1 so my advice is to update, i use windows 10 pro and I am fine with it I would never go back to previous versions

yes i think you should update to windows 10. As of the moment, windows 10 became very useful and user-friendly. There are lot of features that you can use on either your work or personal activities. It also upgrades the program to the point that it is much faster rather than windows8. Also, windows 10 is protection wise that can work on several malware malfuunctions and viruses. Thats why I highly suggest to use windows 10!

Since this is a thread about Windows 10. I just want to share what I've observed with my PC. I haven't upgraded yet and I don't use SSD because I'm too lazy to upgrade in this pandemic.

But you know what? my booting time before was taking around 5 minutes and 10 minutes would the longest.

But after the update of Windows 10, it got a speed up and just taking around 1-2 minutes boot up. I don't know what happened so I have a conclusion that the speeding down of bootup is also affected by the OS. And whatever that update made to my PC, it got a boost and I guess I don't have to buy SSD anymore just for this time because it's common to install OS on the SSD just for the quick bootup and load of the OS.

How to get Windows 10 upgrade for free:

    Make sure you are using a genuine copy of Windows 7/8.1 on your device or virtual machine.
        Note that a corporate/volume licensed instance of Windows — even if it’s genuine — isn’t eligible.
    Head over to the Windows 10 download page and download the tool to install the OS.
        Alternatively, you can download the full ISO of Windows 10 from this page (may redirect to the Media Creation Tool download page if opened on Windows).

You should upgrade windows 8.1 to windows 10. My experience with windows 10 is much better than win 8.
