It appears that bitcoin was mentioned in a (semi-)notable publication for the first time (as far as Google would tell me): Open source innovation on the cutting edge (http://www.infoworld.com/d/open-source/open-source-innovation-the-cutting-edge-582?page=0,2) (InfoWorld). I don't think they really conveyed how the system works, but I think it's another sign that Bitcoin is gaining traction. Bitcoin had changed a lot in this 5 years.
