Title: Did PayPal approve selling bitcoins for PayPal?
Post by: sardasa on June 22, 2016, 05:42:59 PM
I see coinbase started offering PayPal payments to US users from today: https://blog.coinbase.com/2016/06/22/coinbase-adds-support-for-paypal-and-credit-cards/ (https://blog.coinbase.com/2016/06/22/coinbase-adds-support-for-paypal-and-credit-cards/)

Coinbase was not really into bitcoin economy, more like a bitcoin currency exchange. Basically coinbase would accept btc for payment on behalf of merchants, exchange rate it and transfer traditional currency funds to the company. I imagine with paypal it will be the same.

I don't think they still approve or using paypal for bitcoin related transactions but how coinbase manage to add paypal in their methods is quite confusing to me too. ???

as far as i know, paypal didn't disallow any form of transaction about cryptocurrency but they just won't get involved into it if any problem happening, they didn't reccommend the transaction, every refund request will result rejected

I've read the post and it's just for BTCBTCBTC sells. I'm pretty sure they'll pass the fees on you. I see no issues with that because it's just transferring your money on coinbase to Paypal. If it was the other way around, that's where we'll have issues.

You mean to say PayPal will limit everyone's account who are selling bitcoin at coinbase and not limit coinbase's account because they're buying bitcoin?

In paypal's eyes it probably doesn't qualify as any type of crypo transaction. Coinbase is selling the bitcoin, turning it into usd and sending that usd to paypal. anything to do with bitcoin stays inside coinbase. paypal never touches it.

Interesting, now you can fund your Paypal account with bitcoin, well, with Coinbase as middleman, I guess eventually one will be able to fund Paypal account directly with bitcoin, but for now this is pretty good.

This is just like circle ,circle let you buy bitcoins via PayPal it mean that PayPal should allow/is allowing pp to btc transaction.
But in case if a individual man do it then pp will freeze their account saying it is against their tos.
WTF!!

I don't think paypal has accepted it just yet but they have announced on thinking about it.
Pretty sure paypal is going to be placing ridiculous fees with these just as when you are using cash and withdrawing it to your bank account.
