For me, I wouldn't wish for a sudden increase in price, which will be just bubble and will not be sustainable. I am excited as you are because this is an important milestone for bitcoin development. Moving forward we all need to focus on the scaling up. Price is like shadow- it will follow how well the growth and development of bitcoin, but not the other way round.

All of us are excited about the halving but I have a feeling that no big surprises will happen during the halving, we already saw what hashocean did so other cloud mining will act the same way, i also don't expect the price to be too high at the moment of halving but after few weeks/months.

I am quite sure whatever happens, people won't be really happy because for people to be happy about a price it would best be ever-increasing. So create ur happiness elsewhere not sourced from the Bitcoin prices. Much love.

Nice plan you have, I will do something similar for sure. I`m also exited about this halving, I think we will know future of btc much more after halving. Many are talking about drops, big increase in price, I`m satisfied even now and if we see price even higher that would be awesome.

I think we won't see any significance movement the next days until the halvening.It will be just a normal day with the exception that the reward will get cut in half.The real impact in terms of price I believe is going to happen a few months later.
So some people will be disappointed and maybe sell parts of their stash and therefore we could see another temporal decline.

I'm not that excited. Well I don't think it will make much of the difference. What I am being cautious of is if it will be followed with a crash. I wouldn't want that to happen.

Yes I don't think price will rise in coming days, may be it will be stuck at $650 till the halving but may be few days before we can expect some higher price.

I'm scared actually. What if miners start to unload more coins per month in order to pay bills? They will have to because their reward is smaller.

tbh i thought the halfing was going to happen around the end of july. your post gave me a happy surprise. ;D. I am probably going to buy a bunch more coins before it happens because i feel like the price can be a lot higher.

Well,at this point of time ,I really have no idea what to do with my coins.I have been making a good amounts by trading ,the recent downfall that happened before peaking again is a nice example you can't really predict always positive outcome.

i am very excited for halving but i am a lot more excited to see what will happen after the halving.

there are already a lot of speculation about it and how it is going to affect the price and i have some theories myself so i am excited to see how much of it is going to be true.

Some people have been holding and waiting just in case there is a price-spike. As to what they do if nothing happens? Continue to hold I guess.

Some my sell, some may continue to hold, I don't know.

As for everyone else who think there will be a "moon" value spike, judging by the market right now, it isn't going to happen. The whales and investors already know where the value is going to end up and what the minimum value the miners will be able to sell for will be, so they're probably not going to buy and I don't think a lot of people will buy either.

Every one seems very excited about the halving although there are no dramatic increase in the price of bitcoin in the last 5 days but still there are a lot of great things to work forward,in my case I will just go on my usual routine and see what comes in after that day..

It's a gamble. Im sure that if I sell trying to trade the market, I will wake up with a bigger price than I was expecting and instead of a correction it keeps rising and I miss a ticket to the moon, so I will just hold it.

Do not expect to see any big fireworks when this happens.... There have been people stockpiling bitcoins in the hope that it would go to the moon, and I doubt if anything is going to happen. A lot of

people will start to sell, when the price does go up, and that will cause a downward pressure on the price. The week before the Halving happens, will be the week to watch, because a lot of hype will

come just before the event starts... some people who came late to the party, might just jump in and start buying before the event happens.

The hype is real. Just 10 more days before the halving. I am not really expecting anything to happen right at the halving day but I expect at least the value to go even further up after, because it would be harder to get bitcoins.

I am also very much exited with that, after 10 days i hope the price of bitcoin will rocket up and will touch the moon, and we all will get a bigger profit from our coins.

I think the price will not skyrocketing even block halving is nearly done honestly better to don't expect for the price increase after 10 days and i think the price of bitcoin will increase a little bit but its still in 600 level because block halving effect is not instant and i think it takes more months before we will see that the price is increases above 700 or more..

Well after block halving if the price still no changes i think it takes a months that the price will goes up and reach 700-900 value this level i think that we will see more dumps after reaching that price..

I think there will be a great price increase on the day of halving. I bought CAD$20 worth of Bitcoin. Now I'm holding those coins as they have a lot of potential to increase over $1000. We have not seen a price like this since the Mt. Gox fiasco and I think the price is only going to the moon from here. bitcoin is superior currency, and big banking interests would tell you otherwise.

Bitcoin behaves like a commodity. Mining gold is expensive these days, 800$ minimum even for efficient mining companies.

Same here; market can go up or down but the halving results in sort of a buoyancy that will make it unlikely for prices to go back to sub $300 levels; unless BTC fails completely.

So no rocket, no, but a ship that is less likely to sink  :D And much less loss of value to miners. Less "demurrage" = less pressure on price. Excellent.  ;D

BTW. if you want to speculate on a fast BTC price increase, LTC is a good vehicle to do that due to the leverage.

It would be like 0.03 BTC per day = approximately 20$ per day. Not bad for an extra income (It could be considered a main income in many countries).

Well, this is my first experience to see what happen in the halving time, a lot of people always saying if the difficulty of bitcoin mining will increase and the bitcoin price will go to the higher value they can reach, I'm curious about it and want to about the fact of halving.

Definitely with the bitcoin halving prices will boost up to its highest rates....... Lucky for those who have invested to this cryptocurrency long time ago, and especially to those who horded their BTC coins. In my own opinion for the miners who just recently started mining. I guess instead of achieving the ROI of what they invested in a least minimum time, it would probably be extended as it will be more harder to mine BTC coins. Luck for those who have reached their ROI already and are gaining profit already......

Well I do hope so, but unluckily I dont have a big balance in my wallet. Though I am hoping for that skyrocket increase it is unlikely that a huge increase will happen. Given the movement of bitcoins right now it is most possible that it will stay at 600$ to 650$ at most. Though that is the most likely thing to happen I still hope an out of this world increase on the bitcoins monetary value.

In theory it will decrease the supply and seeing that anything that has a scarcity factor associated with it, has more value, it should increase it's price. The immediate effect will not be noticeable in my opinion until that factor kicks into play. For now there are still loads of Bitcoins available, but as time goes by this might change and we will see a higher price based on it's scarcity. ^hmmmmm^

I am super excited hope the bitcoin price goes up tremendously so I can encash a big amount. There are few more days left and counting and I hope It will go according to my expectations. If not at least it will not go down below the current price. If it will not go up I wish it will remains the same. Hope this halving will make my day memorable and full of excitement.

There is a lot of excitement around for the halving but I prefer to be grounded since no one know how this is going to turn out. Everything can happen.
Even a price crash with miners cashing out all at the same time is possible.

this is indeed a big event in bitcoin history since it is still a new thing with bitcoin and there hasn't been so many other halvings before. so I am obviously excited to be a part of bitcoin history.

yup. price hike to double wouldn't happen over night but price to plummet down can happen in just few minutes.

the count down started for halving but still the price of bitcoin are fixed and not increasing what the reason is. what do yo expect in next few day. do you think the rate will increase or decrease is there any clue so that we can make a strategy for next 10 days.

The price will change when demand/supply changes, there will be limited changes in price due to speculation. Seeing as all that is happening is a count down and the amount of BTC generated per day hasn't decreased and there has been little movement in demand, the price wouldn't change. Once less BTC is being generated and less BTC is available for sale per day on exchanges the price should start climbing.

You will need to power through as the price goes down, as there are traders that will likely sell right when the halving occurs to drive down the price.

We won't see the true effect until a few months after the halving when the market is truly effected by a limited supply of coins.

This is a very short time. many people are still looking forward to a very big change after halving occurs. we are all enthusiastic about halving.

If we get some explosion of price right around now which by the looks of things we are going by the increase we are getting already then i will be interested to see if we can maintain the higher levels a few montrhs after the halving has been and gone. maybe this is the floor now and we wont be able to buy ever again at this price, Hopefully it desnt fall too far if it does but at least it would be good for thise who want to stock up.

bitcoin price has already shown some rise today and i am sure it is all because of the halving hype and people fearing to miss out on the rise so they start to buy now. but anything is possible after the halving in the sort term but in long term the price will rise and reach the moon.

You should continue to hold your coins and not buy currently. There have been many users who have been holding over 2-3 BTC before May when the price was ranging between 450-500. We can just hope that the price does not drop drastically like it happened with LTC.

There has been so much speculation over the halving, will the price rocket or will it not, it would be something if nothing at all happened and it was just another day in the crypto world  ;D

As we are approaching the halving, bitcoin is now up to over $660, up by 4% from previous price. Looks like the excitement and speculation over the halving event would really be felt in the days leading to it.

I'm not so sure. Everyone has thoughts that the price will double (or at least a large part of the loud demographic that's posting here) and I expect that that's all they're going to be - thoughts. Not many here even have 1 BTC, and so I doubt that much action is going to be caused through the hype, but rather wealthier parties. However, the halving does not signify a price boom. In fact, the effects were already felt [at least by some degree] in the months leading up to it. I don't expect a large jump in the price. Perhaps a 5-20% increase, maximum, from what we have right now?

But who knows? Markets can be unpredictable* ::)

If the price goes way up, I expect some of that to be panic buying and we will see it come back down. I really don't expect a big increase from the halving since we have already had some increases.

yeah, the whales are going to set the course for bitcoin price. the halving on its own is just a milestone in the history and nothing else. but the hype with the help of whales can make huge changes for bitcoin.

i am not so exited comparison to you.bitcoin rate already increased to his high price before halving because everyone stop spending theirs coin for halving so this case happened already before it which should be happens exactly while halving.
now bitcoin rate can't go above more than 950$ while halving. :)

I'm holding my coins since 3 months and am waiting to see the result (whether it's profitable or it will incur a loss). I was unsure if the price would reach $900 last week but then the sudden drop made me sure that this price wouldn't remain stable. Hearing that the price would be $650-$655, I believe that we are at it right now. Also, I hope the block reward wouldn't make it longer for transactions to be confirmed.

Depends on the price and the charts. If it's a steady increase and the prices are still reasonable, go for it.

yes you can buy bitcoins now or just after halving because halving doesnot effect the price in one night. it takes some time to pump the price up. for now you can make a quick search about the last halving on 2012 to get a clear idea.

Price is moving slowly up to 700$ and will probably continue to go up while halving approaching.Most people just wait that day because they think price will be best to sell their coins and make some profit.For me,all options are open due to the nature of Bitcoin,in just few days we can see +- 200$ up or down in price.In any case it will be interesting in the coming days and after halving for sure :)

Confirm transactions is depend on your priority fee, it is not about the price of bitcoin.

Just put the reliable fee for your transaction to getting a fast transaction, but not recommended for little amount because you will feel the fees is not rational for your . just make a transaction with the standard amount to avoid getting unrational fees.

I'm excited too but not really since I don't think that there would be any large movement on the day of the halving itself. I mean, the atmosphere would probably be "hyped" but I wouldn't want to expect that much so I wouldn't be disappointed when there actually nothing happens.

Although $700 is somehow significant, i think this will still go up. Everyone should be hoping bitcoin price should go up else we're not going to profit. If btc price drops down below $400, this could be the start of new altcoin that will gradually goes up nad perhaps turn to be the major later.

During the halving ,I will grab some popcorn and sit in front of a trollbox wathing people fud and hype while others panic sell and buy. Definitely not planning any move in the first hours.

Only fear I have personally is that miners stop mining and that will result in having the Bitcoin network insecure and could result into panic selling as well.

You should not be afraid that minera will stop mining in the short term future, since everyone still mined even when the price was 250$, now in a few months it is almost stable at 650$. So the price more than doubled and the rewards will be halved, so there is still a profit margin. There is no reason to stop now, if miners wanted to stop, they should have done it when the price was 250$ per bitcoin.

Why would miners stop mining as they are able to make insanes ammounts of money with bitcoin? These question will happen into the next 50 years as the coins will be less and less, soo core should be thinking how they will motivate miners to keep their hash protecting bitcoin.

those who say miners will stop mining are either spreading FUD and want to create some panic selling or they are misinformed about mininers. they are making shit loads of money even if the price goes down a couple of hundreds more they are still profiting.

i think its possible though. just imagine how much is lost from them after halving. they use to acquire 25btc and now just 12.5 btc per block.
if lets say half of  it are intended for the electricity cost and employers not to mention the maintenance for it. have you read about those threads about block size concerns?

I think in a way this might encourage more and more people around the world to use alternative energy and go solar. If people can cut down on their electricity cost then it might help offset the expense of mining bitcoin. My Dad just put in solar panels so I am trying to get him to try mining and we will discuss it in a few weeks. I am not sure now if the price will go up much more. I think it already peaked at nearly 800 USD a bitcoin and now it has retraced back to 750.

If you would have known and clearly understand what is about to happen, then your answer would lean to buying bitcoins before the even since the chances of bitcoin's value going up is rather high because the supply of newly mined bitcoins after the halving would be less than what it is today.

It actually started rising and it's 690$ ~ at the moment so I don't think it will get lower before the halving block reward. It's probably caused by some people who afraid for being late for the halving train.

We have already seen a bull run lifting the price from around $400 to nearly $800 in quite a short time. But it's not over yet. I am fairly sure we'll get another part of the bull run to start next week. Just have some patience.

I do not think so. The effect of Halving, if at all, judging by the past will appear in about a year. Therefore it is necessary to wait and keep Bitcoin. It is likely that many think that the price immediately after Halving instantly changed, it is not. And they are likely to be disappointed in this.

Ignore all price movements right now.
Wait for a couple of months after the halving. That is when you will find the true price.

when i wake up and check the price,it was $700 and have increase about 4% than yesterday price. and yeah we all hopefully bitcoin price more and more increase till halving and after halving.

Nothing out of the ordinary price fluctuation will happen. Halving already factored into current price.

That's possible because i expect that after halving many users will sell their coins because most of them think about that and also their mindset so i won't get surprised if after halving the price will have a massive drop. It's better to be smart on choosing the right date when we gonna sell our coins before other holders does.

Yeah from $690 to $650, disappointed to see that dump as I was expecting that it will cross $700 and would be around $720 but unfortunately it didn't happen.

I did anticipated on that too, but apparently more people want to sell their coins then to buy. However I still have some hope this is not all to it.
When the halving is finished i don't expect any big things, but currently I still have a hope/feeling it will go back to 750 at least.

This is not a good time now for Steam user, because the Steam Summer Sale ends on July 5th but the halvening is not started yet. We want to buy games by spending our Bitcoin, but it's not a good time to spend our Bitcoin now.

as we get closer to the halfing, the number of blocks with 25btc rewards decrease. so i wonder if miners think " oh, I better mine more btc now because after the halfing i wont get as much of a reward" and this results in more miners now, making the halfing come faster than expected.  8)

If i were you, I would just go ahead and spend my btc on the steam sale. Because i dont think the price is going to change too drastically near the halfing. we will prolly see a rise in the price couple of months after the halfing takes place imo.

So, did you mean that the halving will take a significant effect after a couple of months? Are you sure about that? Because the block rewards is cut in half, how could it not make a drastic effect on the price?

im both to be honest im excited and im nervous because in my opinion anything might happen with the bitcoin price, because of that im a little bit afraid that the price is going to go down

most of the BTC users are not interested about price. BTC is just a tool and once they get any BTC, they withdrawn to cash instantly  :)

More than half of the bitcoin mining is located in China, what will happen there will cause a chain reaction. How much of their miners will stop since they will mine already at a loss after the halving. What will happen to the speed of the bitcoin transactions? Will it be causing a very slow transactions and what will be the effect of this on the trading on exchanges.Will people start putting the value of their bitcoins to ETH and Litecoin instead?

95% from miners are from China. Part of them  have stolen electricity and other part has it very cheap. they will be on profit anyway. :)

I doubt that is even 95%, maybe around 75-80%. Most of them build farms on locations where electricity is very cheap.You should also take account on the model of hardware miners they mostly have on mining bitcoin, once they reached that halving they are already mining at a lost.

There are not slow transactions, there are low transaction fees.  :)

yeah that is around 60 to 70% of the hashpower which comes from Chinese mining farms. but even if the reward halves they are still making a lot of profit each day with their settings. you shouldn't worry about miners profit too much.

You haven't changed the title in 5 days like you mentioned in OP.  The halving is 5 days away now.  I'm looking forward to it.  I really hope that this drives the price up even more.  I really hope it doesn't do the opposite and kill bitcoin.  I suppose I will hodl either way.

people seem to be anxious about the halving. I don't know what will happen on the eve of the halving itself. I foresee prices rising and falling and finally settling at a lower price. I know man people are expecting that the price will blow up but I think on the contrary it will drop.

It's going to happen in 9 hours , people shouldn't expect a fast increase, though. Expect the unexpected, things could go wrong for one reason or another.

Yeah expect the unexpected like price drop instead of most of the expectations that it will continue to rise. But i'm still hoping that most of the shareholders now will not do panic selling and just continue to hold at least this end of the year.

I remember someone said that before the hard Halving actively and panic buy or sell, and the price of Bitcoin will strongly rise or fall. Something I did not watch today. Price, i not afraid of the word, is "stable" at now moment.

Supply didn't get halved yet so of course there is no rise of fall yet .It's going to happen in few hours though.

Well I am actually happy the halving day is finally here because to be honest I was getting pretty tired already from all these speculation threads and projection boards. I am not expecting a massive rise in anything though. I will basically sit back and enjoy the ride and see where the tide will take me. The way people were talking about halving and its effects, I thought today will be crazy with the price of bitcoin. Funny enough it is dropping slowly and there isn't much volatility. I hope that when it happens,the price will have to stabilise.

It may goes down (If people panic selling) but It shouldn't take too long till It go UP , but as I said people should expect the unexpected, things could go wrong.

i wouldnt sell my coins yet, price could still go up yet. If your thinking of selling just for profit then at least hang on to see what happens. In my opinion we might get a very slight pump but nothing of epic proportions. more than likely id say nothing will happen at all. But still, selling right now would be an unwise move.

I am thinking maybe I can get a little profit if it drops and then pumps after the halving. Its going to be a quick money don't you think?

It is not smart to sell now as the price of bitcoin after the halving would normally be expected to rise as decreasing supply meets increasing demand. The unknown is how much price increase has already been baked into the current price.
