We can't compare PayPal and Bitcoin. It is incorrect. PayPal just a company processing payments, bitcoin is a currency (besides a payment system).
PayPal could process bitcoin payments as well.

i prefer to use bitcoin because bitcoin promises to be the most secure Payment method available, there is no database to leak or accounts to be hacked. However, PayPal is a common target of phishing emails which can be very sophisticated and easy to fall prey to. If your account is compromised, it will likely be sold on the black market to the highest bidder and worse could leak your bank account or credit card details.

Bitcoin has lot more potential than paypal but paypal won't be dead at all.
It has great user base.

Bitcoin needs miners & Paypal doesn't just a centralised infrastructure.

So basically they are in the same league since Bitcoin is de-centralised & nobody owns the company.

Since Bitcoin is not yet implemented in all forms of trade, and some countries doesnt even recognize this as a currency. I would say, as for now both of this methods of handling currency is incomparable. Maybe after sometime, specially once the inflation of the BTC after the halving. BTC as digital currency will be popular. Probably that's the time we can compare the feasibility of both.

Bitcoin is a revolution in payment or monetary system. It's hard to do business with Paypal or even using Paypal. But with bitcoins its a lot easier and bitcoin is here to stay. Paypal has to follow all those rules and regulation which it's users will have to adjust to it and even make suffer a bit. You don't have that issue with bitcoin. In my humble opinion I think bitcoin is miles ahead that Paypal. Paypal does have it's own customers and users. But wait for another 2 to 3 years and we can get for confirmation on this. Bitcoin is here to stay, not sure about Paypal.

Well I guess Bitcoin will be here longer, since it can't just be shut down by anyone. There could be a revolutionary new service  in a 100 years that will lower the profits of PayPal, and that could kill it.

Then again, who knows what the future will bring for atl coins. Maybe one will make Bitcoin so useless that people will stop mining it. Or lower it's popularity to the point that future generations don't care about it, and those who do slowly die.

I saw post about paypal vs payza and I choose paypal instead of payza. But in this topic I choose bitcoin because it is easy to withdraw the money in remittances and banks without credit card, debit card or atm card. Bitcoin also is easy to earn than dollars. You can earn bitcoin by faucet site and invest it on investment site. You can also earn bitcoin here in bitcointalk.

Paypal has been around for some time and I don't think there will be anything to stop it right now. Bitcoin just started a few years ago and still has milestones to achieve. The two are completely different in nature although both involve funds transfer. If you asked me which is more safe, I would prefer bitcoin because I have had a rough time with Paypal for the past one year. I have over $1,000 stuck in my Paypal account because of limitation. I am not able to withdraw despite paypal saying that I now have the ability to withdraw. It is hell dealing with paypal.

The main benefit of PayPal is that it is often only in the presence of account, ie, your personal PayPal account, you can buy goods in a particular online store. Otherwise, nothing happens. There are certainly problems with bitcoin. But every digital currency has some features of calculations.

Actually substantial or real lucrative offers in the material plane as I intend to use the PayPal wallet special there, except that PayPal sends to registered users of coupons for discounts at certain stores or Ebay site. This is perhaps the only difference from the bitcoin.

I can see both PayPal and Bitcoin surviving for multiple generations. Both have their advantages that will lead to their longevity. While PayPal has more users currently, I think Bitcoin has the bigger potential with more people learning about cryptocurrency. PayPal has the advantage because you can link to bank accounts and can deposit or withdraw money easier than Bitcoin.

I also think that Bitcoin is the winner here. PayPal will of course change it's name in a few years (like they all do for whatever reason). Too much people don't even know what bitcoins are. Just compare how popular BTC would be if it the same amount of people wouldn't know it.

But things can change in future. When bitcoin solves the Block Capacity issue, we can see more users and more number of transactions.

PayPal has to be the biggest con of a company in e-commerce. Their customer support is awful, they can freeze your funds without reason, and they can close your account, forfeiting your balance completely, without any reason. Buying/selling with it is a pain, you get disputed and practically always lose because of PayPal's philosophy of always siding with the buyer. If you're a buyer, you'd want to pay with PayPal, you have a safety net. No safety net with Bitcoin.

PayPal is only an intermediary between buyers and sellers, it's a payment processor while the bitcoin is a currency though it may not be considered to be currency by most of the people but it's the fact that it's been designed as a complete currency in itself and to be used as such. Bitcoin needs no payment processors. Bitcoin is here to stay for sure. No wonder that it puts an end to the need of any payment processors like the one in question. But for that to happen bitcoin has to be globally accepted by each and everyone and that doesn't seem too far from happening.

Everyone keeps saying that Bitcoin is the best digital currency when in fact it is not. Its just the most widely know. Bitcoin transactions can take hours while paypal is instant.

Bitcoin has a long way to go.

Even now there are better alternatives but once those systems get bogged down with users the same thing will happen.. long transaction times.

Paypal has control of you money once it hits your account with them.
They can either let you send it somewhere or they can just simply hold it and tell you that you can not do anything with it.
I hate that way that you can not have anything to say if that happens.

Not only accountability throughout the payment system is the difference from the bitcoin. Paypal generally deals with all currencies, so to work without supervision, they simply can not practically. A bitcoin is a centralized and safe-haven currency.

If you keep all your savings into Bitcoin, then definitely you can evade taxes and, moreover, it is a kind of attachment of their money on future earnings. But paypal does not allow this.

Who will be the winner is Bitcoin because bitcoin have a system that is not owned by paypal. Paypal banking system using a rigid, orthodox system of finance, only the excess paypal is a transaction or online payment tool.
On the other hand Bitcoin own systems more intelligent, efficient, and not difficult. Now many of the developing countries are already taking and legalize Bitcoin as legal tender. And of course the price of Bitcoin is much higher than the Dollar.

I had to send the transaction manual to the miners, otherwise i was still waiting.  A other transaction of 0.46 btc took 12 hours for this first Confirmation. I payed 0.0003btc fee. 3times the wallet suggested i do. (I also had to send this transaction directly to the miners manually)

This needs to be fixed first

Paypal = unable to use due to scam
Bitcoin = can use anywhere its accepted although can be used in scams due to its anonymity

I think paypal will stay longer since its not volatile like bitcoin is. Bitcoin has a lot of problems in its future that could end up in its crashing, the goverments could but a ban over bitcoin stopping all legal businesses from using it and accepting bitcoin causing it to crash. A bitcoin dump could happen causing a bubble to pop.

I think it is difficult to answer because both are growing strongly over the internet. Paypal is a company active in the field of electronic commerce, specializing in providing payment services and money transfer via the Internet. It was founded in December 1998 with the original name was Confinity, a company developing security software for handheld devices, existed and developed until now. And Bitcoin is a digital currency, electricity, its decentralized nature, is encrypted and was born in 2008. After nearly 10 years of development, the value of Bitcoin has been continuously increasing and are gradually popular with everybody. I think both can survive longer on the internet because their features are very useful.

It is difficult to say whether bitcoin retain their advantage in terms of accounts of anonymity unlike paypal. All payment systems have their own environment distinctiveness, and thus can deal with bitcoin. I think that the formal recognition of bitcoin, just require to deprive their members of it. Only such concessions would have to go.

One has a TOS..

by the way this was not new.
The rule existed when the hit me sending from BTCe back in 2013
and i found a guy here who got the same email for PP in 2012 ..so this is OLD news !

You can use one or the other but not both.

Quote
Paypal team asserts through its terms and conditions that all bitcoin / digital currency related activities are banned.

So the smart thing to do would be to head over to the market section here ASAP and sell your BTC for PP funds.  :D :D ;D

Many of my friends have had some funds frozen for nothing more then sending to those ptc sites so it affected their accounts. But they got them out after verification but still not being access their funds for days on end is not fair to them for relying on others accounts to be verified and clean too.
Not a good and balanced system I would say. :-[

Paypal (payment processor) and bitcoin (digital currency) who will stay longer on internet?
Also welcome to time travellers for answer.

NOTE:we focus on online payment system which will widely use by ecommerce websites.
Travelers today probably using paypal because it is the most popular and most successful but no doubt in the future bitcoin will be no. 1

Paypal very dangerous. The regulation of paypal system is not transparent so your money can be in pending status whenever. So I'd rather Bitcoin than Paypal.

hmmm.. paypal just process the payment of its users and in return they get profit off the fees, however bitcoin is simply a currency and paypal can accept bitcoin as payment currency but not yet implimented

Probably paypal will stay longer since it has many users in the future and bitcoin is very volatile

Paypal and bitcoin is not a same thing. Paypal is a payment company where bitcoin is a currency system. So we can't compare them. But for me bitcoin is best.

If bitcoin is considered only as a method of payment - then I agree with you. But if you consider that bitcoin is her and the currency, then bitcoin is much better. Due to the fact that the price of bitcoin is constantly growing. PayPal does not increase your money on accounts

We can't compare PayPal and Bitcoin. It is incorrect. PayPal just a company processing payments, bitcoin is a currency (besides a payment system).
PayPal could process bitcoin payments as well.
yeahh, agree.
maybe will better if compare paypal with blockchain or coinbase, right?

The fact is that I'm not very good at this time and use the PayPal payment system positively and at the same time I can make good money with Bitcoin. It seems to me that we need to calm down and begin to combine in one and the other. Although PayPal and Bitcoin have two different concepts and the extent to which they are used.

Paypal and bitcoin, they are two different concepts and not only. So that it is inappropriate to oppose them.

Yes but bitcoin is not liquid as paypal. If you have money in your paypal, you're guaranteed to get the cash. In bitcoin, no.

For me, in many respects better BTC. The same Paypal does not guarantee anonymity + there are plenty of various problems and there is with this payment system. Yes BTC has its own risk, but as for me it is justified.
