Title: Dad falls for case bling, buys crappy computer on ebay
Post by: bitcoin0918 on June 12, 2011, 02:25:15 AM
My dad's computer recently got hosed, and he was looking around on his favorite goto site - dell auctions - and somehow came across this beast (http://cgi.ebay.com/110650318161?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D110650318161%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1) - P4! AGP! - but look, BLUE LEDs!!! He got all excited about those, so he asked me to look at it, and I offered to search around for better deals.

I found one for cheaper that was dual core, had DDR3 RAM, 250GB SATAII, Radeon 54xx, etc - very upgradable! I told him this was a much better computer and he should go with it.

I called him a few days later, and found out... he went with the blue LEDs! His excuse - "the other computer didn't have a card reader [yes it does], and it's not a tower". I told him you can turn it on its side and it becomes a tower.  ::)

I'm tempted to demand he return it and pay the restocking fee as a lesson for not listening to me.

If you were my son and demanded anything from me, I'd probably slap you silly.

When you get older, you'll realize that someone talking about their dad isn't automatically a kid.

Aren't you always a kid in your father's eyes?

Maybe, but the law would find differently if you attempted to "slap me silly", pops.

But what if I touched you in naughty places?  ;)

Dads turn into sons while sons turn into fathers

If you were my father I'd either put something poisonous in your food or stab you to death while you slept. Better yet, I have a gun now. If my dad ever comes anywhere near me, I'll shoot him dead.

oi i know the feeling. I'm finally practically forcing my mother to let me pick out the hardware for her new computer. Shes been obsessed with laptops for the last 2 decades, even though she has never moved it from her computer desk. So shes been paying top dollar for underpowered hardware. Finally I think she will have a decent computer!

I'm a proponent of used dell systems for basic cpu users...

I have never, EVER seen any sort of deal on the dell auctions site.  Ebay is another story.  Tons of great decent systems for an email/internet user for cheap.
