Title: Bitcoin Poker Night
Post by: TTBit on October 23, 2010, 04:09:35 PM
I plan on being in the poker room every monday night for monday night football, which starts at 8:30pm, lasting about 3 hours. I'd like to get a full table going of NL holdem and/or limit holdem.

https://betco.in/

Hope to see you there!

I'll bump this thread each monday afternoon.

plug: if anyone wants to bet on the MNF game, bitcoinsportsbook.com.

I just topped off my account and am waiting for action tonight. Hope we can get a full table. My nickname is 'Acco' by the way.

I'll be there about 8pmET for the 8:30 MNF game start.

I'll load up 2/4 limit and a NL table.

Anyone still playing poker on betco.in?

I just discovered the site today.
I tried to play today but all tables were empty.

I'm willing to play 4PM-9PM EST any day of the week at least for the next couple weeks as long as there are a few player, I can't spare enough attention to play HU or 3way though. Any stakes is fine.

Well it's working now, but what's wrong with it? Nothing much, but there is room for improvement. Definitely need a better slider bet bar. I find myself always manually typing in my bets.

Anyone want to play?

well. i do not believe slider bar is snow stopper for people who wants to play poker with bitcoins, but rather here almost no gamers =). If this thing ever take off, I promise I will work on every bit of it. But right now my minimal viable product proved thatbitcoin community do not need poker room at this point in time )) well.. except for PR purposes where my poker room works pretty well )

I think it's not that it isn't popular, but the trouble is that it is nearly always at 0 users so many people who maybe want to play don't want to sit down at empty tables and wait (or even if there is someone they don't want to engage in heads up play). The conundrum here is, how do you get people to start playing. I think maybe a good way to jumpstart things would be to set up tournaments people can enter for a low buy-in or something of that nature. That might start bringing more people to the tables.

for some time i was keeping bots sittings in the room. they spent few hundreds of my money but did not brought a lot of users. except ones, who realized these are bots and are easy to beat.

Tournaments - it's just another "perk". It's already very easy to enter game on Instis table. you need just 1 bitcoin to sit there.

I also introduced my friend to Bitcoins. He was particularly interested in playing  some poker, but the room was empty so he left. Hippich maybe it would be a good idea to keep those bots in the room until it gets more popular

mewantsbitcoins, it's too expensive =) Whenever I run bots, someone find this and start slowly grab coins from them. Having no income from this project, spending hundreds on supporting bots is way too expensive at current exchange rate.

Sounds like you need better bots!

As far as getting people playing, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to have a lobby, where a person can see all the users who are online, or a list of users with online users at the top, and allow the users to "challenge" each other. It'd take some of the effort out of making matches. After all, even if there were thousands of users floating around on your website all at once, you'd never know it unless some of them sat down at a table to play. And the tendency, it seems, is not to sit down when one sees an empty table, but to simply leave.

Why not also have a table that requires no bitcoins to gamble.

Just to keep people online.

well.. i decided to work a bit on room. there were few annoying admin bugs and I added twitter notification feature. Now every 5 minutes it checks if there are any players and if they are - post notification to http://twitter.com/betcoin

Follow it to know exactly when someone is in room and join 'em!
