Title: Selling Silver and Gold Bullion at Low Prices! Updated 10/3/16
Post by: SaltySpitoon on July 17, 2016, 08:48:41 PM
Hi all, I'm offering silver and gold bullion at or near spot price. You can see the price breakdown compared to spot value next to every listing. Every order ships free to the U.S via priority shipping with tracking label and signature confirmation if you would like it unless otherwise listed. I can ship same day if you order early enough, but within 1 business day of your order guaranteed. My inventory updates daily, so be sure to check back often for new products and sales!

If you are outside of the US, I can get you a shipping quote. Please make sure you are aware of your country's laws on importation of precious metals for any importation tax you may have to pay if you are outside of the US. I will abide by all of your country's importation laws. Declared package value is always the spot value of the metal, though I will do my best to make the package inconspicuous to lower risk of theft. I cannot be held responsible for issues with the package due to customs or international shipping problems. I will get the package sent out to you legally, after that I can make no absolute guarantees.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to ask.

I just checked big online retailers and priced similar to them. At time of writing, spot is $20.31 USD. The generics are $22 each, Crocodiles are $27 each, Philharmonics are $26 each, and the year of the horse bars are $220 or $22/oz.

If spot price jumps or drops $1/oz I'll change the prices of course.

I don't understand why anyone would need to use an escrow dealing with you. They should send first.

Past reputation and the fact that I'm a global moderator here has little to do with trustworthiness. I highly advocate the use of the escrow system, so I'm happy to offer it for any trades/sales I do. It is in the spirit of Crypto to not trust a screen name. While I personally wouldn't scam anyone, there is no reason for anyone to have blind faith in me.

Its not like your account will be sold or hacked though. I just find it funny is all.
Would you consider selling some of your silver at spot?

I hope it never will be hacked. Quick way to do a double check is to check one's trust page. If their password has been changed recently it will say so in red letters. Its not a bad habit to at least check that before doing a deal with someone. I'm not interested in selling at spot, sorry. I have local dealers who will pay spot to spot +$1 for generics. I'm trying to sell my generics for spot +$1.50-2.00 depending on how the spot price is fluctuating. I currently have them listed at $22/oz for the generic 1 oz and 10 oz bars. $27 for the crocs (compare to $35 at APMEX) and $26 for the Philharmonics. Apparently 2014 was one of the lowest if not the lowest mintage for philharmonics, so they hold a bit more premium than regular Eagles/Maples.

Compare my pricing to that of APMEX or JMBullion or any of the other large dealers, and you will see that they are similar, however my turn around time and customer service is much better. Every order I've ever made from APMEX didn't ship for at a minimum of a week, two weeks wasn't uncommon. JMBullion is a bit better, but 4 days to a week isn't uncommon either.

All of that said, I'm considering listing more of my stash. I've got a lot more smaller increment stuff and graded things that I may let go of.

Typically its $6 for shipping via small flate rate box. Thats priority (2 day) shipping with tracking number. I'd cover the shipping cost for the roll of crocs + a horse bar though.

Thanks, I'm definitely interested. Think I'm gonna wait a day or five and see what BTC (and silver spot price) do, make sure I have money to rebuy BTC I spend, etc. Hopefully you don't sell everything by next Monday...

Do you have any concerns about sending 2+ lbs of silver worth over $800 in a flat rate parcel box? Is insurance possible or a good idea?

I've shipped and received a lot of packages of metals, and never had any sort of issue. I typically just ship with Tracking and Signature confirmation if people want it, but I'm sure insurance of at least the spot value of the metal can be done as well.

When dealing with anything of value, always ship via USPS. Since they are a branch of the government, if a package goes missing, there is actually a federal investigation. It greatly discourages theft and such, and misplaced packages are very very uncommon for similar reasons. The worst I've ever had was something that looped a few times through the same sorting facility, but that was resolved with a call. UPS and Fedex, if an employee steals a package and is caught, its up to the company to decide how its handled.

I will buy 10 of these

Sorry, I don't have Rhodium nor do I buy it. If I'm not mistaken, Rhodium is difficult to work, so the premium on bars/rounds is high. I don't have an issue buying gold/silver with a premium, because I know I'll always be able to get that premium back when I go to sell. Rhodium is a bit more complicated.

Understood. Just from reading JM market perspectives it looks like three-way catalysts will be enriched with Rh in 2017, which will cause it price up. I do not expect $3000 per once as it was 10 years ago, but $1500 easily

Good luck with your rounds!

I would buy a few at spot +1$ if your interested. Im even willing to send first because I see no need to pay someone to escrow this deal.

I am sure. Thanks again for the offer though. As I said, I can get between spot and spot +1 at my local dealer, and walk out with cash in hand, not worrying about whether a package is going to get stolen/lost etc. I'm pretty firm on my pricing unless someone wanted to buy large quantities. The problem with pricing things fairly to begin with, is you have no wiggle room when people want to negotiate. Maybe next time I sell my silver I'll start it higher so people can negotiate me down. Let me know if you want to do that  :P

I may have the opportunity to resume relatively small scale bullion dealing. What type of products would you be likely to consider purchasing? Gold/Silver/Platinum or more obscure stuff like Rhodium and Paladium? Numismatic or non? Fractional or large quantities?

Very good....
There are many silver-bugs and goldies around here!!!

PM has been sent.

Thanks

Thanks for the pm, responded.

I'm a huge gold/silver bug, and I just really enjoy purchasing it. I've been stacking metals for years now, but its honestly way more fun to deal in metals than just buying. If you have traded BTC,Alt Coins or fiat on exchanges where you sell your BTC for something else and then try to buy back in at a lower price and earn some bitcoins, its exactly like that. I've got some great ideas on how to purchase metals that I could sell for Bitcoin at lower than what the online retailers charge.

That announcement for my full time shop will be coming up in the next couple of days. I'm just running through all of the legal/tax stuff to make sure I'm not going to get pinched up accidentally trading BTC - Metals due to some wierd laws.

Do you by chance have any silver American Eagles lying around?  I've been having a collection going and haven't got my 2016 one yet and figured it'd be nice to get it with BTC... Might be interested in other metals too, but I guess I'll wait for your store to come out. :)

I don't at the moment, but I will most certainly be stocking them very soon. Ill be running all sorts of promotions to get the word out about my new business. I'm doing research on all of the major company's pricing algorithms right now so that I can beat them, and I'll probably be running a lot of sales near spot price for things like Eagles to get the word out about my business. I'm also thinking of doing customer rewards and such which I don't think any other metal dealers do, where you get free coins/bars based on previous orders and orders size and such.

I've got a bit of gold coming in tomorrow, as well as a bit more generic silver. I'll be sure to grab eagles on my next purchase.

Thanks! Right now my inventory is a little shabby, but it will pick up pretty quickly. I've mostly dealt in silver in both the bullion and numismatic markets, but I've traded gold a bit, though its often been too rich for my blood. I'm really interested in adding platinum to my shop, but I don't know how many people would be interested in it. Paladium and Rhodium are really neat too, but I have even less knowledge about them. I actually have already found a way to beat the competition, by the nature of Bitcoin. As a long time Bitcoiner and trader who is trusted, I dont have too much issue converting BTC to Fiat to repurchase more metal. I can even get a couple extra % on the BTC > Cash transactions, and I'm hoping that I can make the majority of my profit there, and offer metals at unheard of prices. Most dealers operate on a 2-5% mark up. If I can get an extra 5% selling the BTC for fiat to repurchase more metals, I don't have to charge a markup.

I've got a 1 Oz gold Pamp bar coming in, and a bunch of 5 and 10 gram gold Perth bars tomorrow. A bit more silver coming in as well, and some more of my personal collection to list. I've met a couple of people in the medium-large online retail scene, and I'm hoping that they will keep letting me know when they have overstocked metals that they are willing to sell at a good price.

Out of curiosity, how are you able to buy silver/gold coins at below retail price? Is it because you are buying "in bulk" (aka the largest quantities at a time)?

From what I can tell, there is quite a lot of demand for numismatic coins. Although it would probably require a little bit additional capital on your end, it might even make sense to get some of the numismatic coins you are selling graded by ANACS or NGS and sell them in their slabs.

From what I can tell, there is quite a lot of demand for numismatic coins. Although it would probably require a little bit additional capital on your end, it might even make sense to get some of the numismatic coins you are selling graded by ANACS or NGS and sell them in their slabs.

There are a couple of ways I do this. My first method is to buy overstocked material from larger vendors. If a vendor has an abundance of one item in their inventory, but they are sold out of others and need the capital for repurchase of other things, I can sometimes find a good deal by contacted them and asking to buy their overstocked items. There are also tax implications for vendors if they take longer than a year to sell a product. Their tax rate just about doubles on any profits they make for metals sold if they purchased them over 1 year ago. Short term investment vs Long term investmen taxes. They can sell their products that they have had for almost a year a bit cheaper as well.

Method 2 works mainly with numismatic coins. If you search auction sites like Ebay, you will not find any good deals. Typically, you will find things sold at least 10% higher than elsewhere due to Ebay's fees. However, when numismatic coins are sold at bad times or with description errors, you can actually find a decent deal from time to time. At 2-3am I like to search for sivler and other common misspellings to see if there is anything interesting. Because of their premiums, most auctions will start around spot price, but the coin might be worth 50% over spot if not more. If no one finds the auction, I can snag things near spot value or at least under priced.

Method 3 is to buy directly from individuals. As people in this thread have mentioned, I must be really lucky to have generous local metal dealers. Well... probably its just that theres a huge amount of demand in my area, so they can afford to pay spot or better when they buy metals. But, others seem to not be so lucky. If you go to a pawn shop, you are going to get ripped off tremendously. Some local dealers are incredibly shady as well. If you sell on Ebay, you are likely to only get 85-90% after Ebay fees. Depending on the item, I can buy it at spot from those people, or sometimes above spot, and still make a profit undercutting big online retailers.

Small retailers can also be the source of really good prices. When my shop opens, my first priority will be liquidation of my inventory so I can expand my range of items and cycle in whatever it is that people want, rather than holding onto inventory for months. Small retailers in particular need working capital. If people are buying something like crazy, but their inventory is heavy on another type of item, they are less reluctant to sell me whatever it is is that is keeping them from restocking more of their hot item. That goes back to #1, but for small dealers its more about the capital as large dealers have access to more.

And as I said before, on top of that, I make a couple of % on the BTC to Fiat conversion before I buy more metal. Metals are a very low margin marketplace with most dealers charging just a couple of % on every item they sell. I believe that I can get that couple of % just trading the BTC to fiat to repurchase more inventory. If I buy silver for example at spot value (aprox $20/oz) and sell it at spot value, I can get 5% or so converting from BTC to Fiat. The buyer pays spot, and I get spot +$1 in that case. My buyers get their metals incredibly cheap, and I still get that couple of % needed to keep going and expand my inventory.

I've never sent any coins off for grading myself, however I'd do it in a heartbeat if I found something worth grading. Most graded coins are ones that are coming directly from the mint, so before they have any time to get flawwed. By the time they hit the secondary market, even coins in great shape might not be flawless anymore. Of course, if I find a roll of flawless coins, I'd send them in for grading if it was worth it to do so.

Not a problem at all. I've shipped to the UK before and have never had anything go wrong. Its not even the hassle, its just a couple things that make me nervous about sending metals overseas. I won't lie on customs declarations, but I've no issue declaring the value at spot value. I've also found that declaring coins as "collector's coins" will sometimes get you off the hook for paying VAT, though I definitely can't guarentee that. Might have just been that particular custom's officer's mood. The thing that makes me the most nevous about shipping overseas, is unless you pay for the ultra premium $100+ priority 2-3 day shipping, the tracking numbers stop updating once the package leaves the US. I'm not sure if its still visable for my customers or not on their end, but thats typically the reason I'd prefer not to ship out of North America.

Now, if it the savings was enough to justify spending the shipping cost for the premium shipping option, I'd have no problem with it, but thats typically for people interested in buying larger quantities.

Just got some of my gold in! (6) 5 Gram gold bars from the Perth mint! I also got a 1 oz pamp bar, but it was fake.  >:(

I have (2) 10 gram and a 2.5 gram Perth gold bar coming in shortly, and some more silver of course.

the 5 gram gold bars are priced under APMEX's Qty 25+ bulk price  :o if you can find a better price from a reputable dealer, I'll match it or beat it. If you are interested in multiple items let me know, I still have a little room to cut a deal!

I didn't test them in the same way, as they came from a reputable dealer. Their size and form is correct however so I don't need to take them out of the assay card and cut them in half  :P. I've got an ultrasound machine on the way so I can be 100% sure of everything I sell. When I order things from multi million dollar companies, I'm not worried. When I buy from individuals its nice to be able to test things in a nondestructive way.

Once I get everything straightened out with the seller, I'll post pictures of my testing

If they came from one of the big companies, then you should be fine.. but those PAMP and PERTH bars in any denomination are heavily counterfeited.  Iv purchased several fakes -.-

Yup. I have no problem buying from individuals as long as my money is protected. Its worth taking a shot as long as theres nothing to lose. As I mentioned before, my Ultrasound machine should be coming in midweek. Once I have that, Ill be a lot less hesitant to buy from individuals.

At the moment everything I have in stock has come from a large reputable company. Of course I spot test things on big orders.

Ouch,  did you get your money back for the fake?

You could look into the laws and taxes on shipping international,  it might help your new business grow.

I'm in the process of getting my money back. Its a open and shut case that it was a fake, but of course the seller says its not, so its not an instant refund. I know a fair bit about international shipping of metals. I've bought and sold a lot of metal in the past just trying to increase my own stash, to other countries as well. Germany, Australia, and any country with a US Trade Embargo are the only places I can't legally ship (though I may be able to do Germany now) Any and all tax liability is on the customer. What I can say, is that I've had hit or miss experiences with metals going through foreign customs. I've had $500 packages get hit with VAT, and $3,000 packages not get hit by VAT. When mailing out of the country, I declare the value as spot value of the metal and try and label them as collectors coins or something like that to help try and prevent theft. What I'm selling right now is just kind of my bulk bullion that I had laying around. Once I've cleared it out, I'll be adding smaller pieces, selling singles rather than rolls, and such, so I'll most likely open up my sales to the foreign market.

The issue I have with international shipping isn't so much about the difficulty of shipping internationally, or the laws, its mainly to do with international tracking numbers. When a package leaves the US, if the shipping plan isn't Global Priority Mail Express (Often near $100) the tracking label will stop working as soon as the package leaves the country. If it gets caught in customs or is just running late, I've got no clue what to do about that. I can't call and get any additional information from the post office, other than that it has left the country and is in transit.

*Edit* On a side note, I'm heading to the post office within the next hour or two. PM me or post if you would like to place an order that will ship today  ;)

A couple of new items added! Check the OP under the Fresh In header for details! Every day, I'll be having a sale on a couple of products where the price is reduced even further! That is in addition to my price match/beat guarentee. Today's sale is on the Silver Britannia's and Perth Gold! Order a roll of Britannias, SBSS Trivium or two or more 5g perth gold bars, and receive your choice of 3% off the list price, or a free ounce of silver! The silver will be part of my personal collection in Brilliant Uncirculated condition inside of an airtite container.

I'm also offering frequent buyer and quantity rewards. I'm still running the numbers to see what I can afford to do, but customers will be given free metal or discounts for purchases reaching certain criteria that I will specify soon. These are cumulative, so if you have purchased from me in the past and make an order, you are elligible for discounts!

I have another 20 oz of silver and a 2.5g gold bar arriving today! Be on the lookout for a deal  ;)

Title: A neat demonstration on how to test gold and silver
Post by: SaltySpitoon on July 31, 2016, 05:00:48 PM
So I thought I'd share this with you guys since its a pretty neat application of science on confirming that your metals are real. As I posted a couple of days ago, I ordered a 1 Oz gold bar from a non reputable source. It was a good price, so I figured I'd give it a shot, why not? Why I was able to take that risk, is because I could perform a foolproof test on the bar. Attached are pictures and explanations of whats going on.

So here is the bar I ordered:
https://i.imgur.com/KOQOwhm.png

It came in standard packaging, inside of the Assay card with no obvious defects or signs of being a forgery. A real pamp bar is 42mm x 24mm x 1.7mm. The bar when measured with the calipers was 42mm x 24mm but I couldn't determine the height because it was inside of the packaging. It looked a little bit thick, and the weight was about 1 gram lighter inside the packaging than it should have been. When you get a real gold bar that says 1 troy ounce, it will be exactly 31.1 grams not 30.9 or anything remotely off of 31.1. However, since it was in plastic packaging, it was measuring 36.9 grams and online sources said it should have been about 37 and change. I was suspicious enough to remove the gold bar from its packaging (completely ruining the premium, but oh well).

My handy dandy testing tools!
https://i.imgur.com/XctG7Pg.png

A digital calipers and an Ultrasonic thickness gauge. The calipers are used for very precise measurements down to the fraction of a millimeter. The ultrasonic thickness gauge uses ultrasound waves to read the thickness of an object.

How it works:
https://i.imgur.com/Ya8FsmT.png

The probe is zeroed and then the sound velocity is set to 3240m/s. That is the speed at which sound travels through gold.

https://i.imgur.com/CWYsnMq.png

The probe is then coupled to the metal using Glycerin, and it uses the speed of sound specified to calculate how thick the thing you are measuring is. The reading there shows 2.9mm.

https://i.imgur.com/AJKyhy3.png

A quick check with the ole calipers shows that the bar is actually 3.88mm thick. If it was real gold all the way through, the ultrasonic thickness gauge would have displayed 3.9mm instead of the 2.9mm. Therefor, the bar is completely and utterly fake. As you have noticed its all scratched up. I wanted to see how thick the gold plating was, and it was actually quite thick. It was an incredibly good forgery, not a $5 chinese made bar, but it probably cost $100 or better to make the fake bar.

And here is a real 1 oz silver Canadian Maple being tested. Its a little bit trickier on coins so I got a little bit of error, but with a tiny bit of common sense it confirms that the coin is real.
https://i.imgur.com/l8PYCsn.png

The Ultrasonic Thickness gauge is adjusted to 3600m/s the speed of sound through silver. A reading of 2.9mm, lets see what the calipers say.

https://i.imgur.com/BCVIDOm.png

About 3mm. So I was off by a 3% margin. Why is that? Oh, because there is a .5ish mm lip around the edge of the coin. The thickness gauge needed a flat surface to get a reading, but the coin's rim is raised by about half a millimeter on either side of the coin. Righto all checks out!

I thought you showed that the ultrasonic thickness gauge did say 2.9mm? Thanks! :)

Sorry, my bad with the wording. That is correct. If the Ultrasound had shown 3.9mm then the bar would have been real. Because the thicknesses didn't match up, that means there is metal other than gold inside of the bar with a different speed of sound.

Fixed that, thanks.

And for the record, the actual thickness of a 1 oz perth bar is 1.7mm. After removing it from the packaging and measuring it I could tell it was fake at that point, but the ultrasound is a neat 100% accurate testing method that I employ. I felt like sharing the pics/process because it is pretty interesting.

Mine was around $400 though there are plenty on the market that will work just fine for $200 or under. The one thing to make sure of, is to check that it has an adjustable velocity setting. Some come with common presets for construction and thats it.

I'm not sure that I'd buy that one you linked. It looks an awful lot like one of the other models that I was looking at a while ago that costs around $200. Maybe just rebranded? I'll post a link if I find it.

*edit* This is the TM8812 its pretty highly recommended I believe and sub $200.

Alrighty, those 40 Silver Eagles that were set to arrive on Monday will be arriving today. Seems the seller shipped them with the cheapest possible method, so while I was expecting priority or 1st class mail (2-4 days) it seems they actually shipped via the 7+ day option. Thats what you will get out of metal dealers, but as any of my customers will tell you, my shipping speeds are phenomenal. I'm pretty much in your shoes, as a metal stacker myself, I hate ordering from a big company and then waiting a week or longer for my orders to arrive. Everything I sell is on hand and ready to ship same or next day (depending on what time you order).

With BTC's price so unstable, its a great time to hedge your bets!

And as always, if you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc please feel free to ask.

For a relatively small order (under 16 oz or so) around $8-15. A small flat rate box is about $30 and would fit more than a few kilograms. I'd be happy to look into more shipping options if you are interested. I have shipped to Sweden before, and there were no issues.

Allright, Awesome.

Want to get in on some Silver at this point. Not sure what to buy though. Bars or Coins? What would you have me start with if I wan't to keep it under .8 btc :)

So heres a basic explanation. In general there are a couple of main categories of "bullion". There are coins, rounds, and bars. Of course there are subclassess of those like Collectors coins, art bars, granny bait, etc but I'll go over what the general benefits of the main three are. I'd be happy to explain the other things as well as the pros and cons of 1 oz vs 5/10/20/25/1kilo etc bars if you would like, but if I do so in a single post, people's eyes might cross reading paragraphs of text.

Coins: Things like Silver Eagles, Canadian Maples, Austrian Philharmonics, and there are quite a few others.

These are issued by government mints, and are legal tender in the countries that produce them. They tend to have a higher premium than bars or rounds. Its pretty rare to find coins at under $2.50-$3 /oz over the metal spot value. That said, having a higher premium isn't always a bad thing. Coins tend to be more desireable, and easier to sell when you decide to do so. The Premium tends to carry over when you decide to sell as well, so if silver goes up to $30/oz you will likely be able to sell the coins for that $30/oz + the added value of the premium.

Rounds/Bars: They are similar to the point where I can lump them into the same category. Rounds and Bars are bullion not produced by government mints, rather they are made independent mints. They tend to have a lower premium than coins, and typically are the best way to get more metal weight for your buck. As long as you purchase reputable rounds/bars, you shouldn't have an issue selling them either. When I say reputable, I mean bars produced by Sunshine Mint, Scottsdale, APMEX, Englehard, and a plethora of others. I typically advise people stay away from no name bars cast in someone's back yard, as selling them will be a hassle. Rounds/Bars typically go for $1-2 over spot price, so as I mentioned before, if you just want more metals, rounds or bars are the way to go.

For example, if someone had $1000 to spend, they could get 41 1 Oz coins at spot+$3 or 44 1 oz rounds/bars at spot +$2 the total value is still the same, but with the lower premium metal, you get more of it for the same dollar value.

In my personal opinion, both are good options. I stack both rounds/bars, and coins as well as some of the other subcategories. Its kind of like brand name things, some people want to pay a little bit more for something with a name they like, even if both things are identical minus the design.

I only have (1) 5oz bar in stock right now, but I'd be happy to look for another. If you would like 2 10 oz bars instead or if you want to wait until I can source another 5 oz bar, the totals would be

0.763 BTC for the 20 oz + 1st class shipping or
0.790 BTC for the 20 oz + priority international shipping.

Sorry if I'm being annoying. But I might want to take this one instead;  Roll of 20 SBSS 1 Oz Silver Trivium

How much would it be for that one including shipping?

Also, it says Spot + 3.8$, Thats the Current Silver price + 3.8$ extra because its a good coin? And the 3.8$ extra is for the entire roll or per coin?

You aren't being annoying, my ability to give customer support like this is one of the advantages I have over big bullion dealers, so please ask anything you would like.

SBSS (Silver Bullet Silver Shield) is a reputable mint that does a lot of art/political rounds and bars. They typically do small batches with beautiful designs so their coins are slightly more collectable hence the higher premium. The price per coin is spot value + $3.8.

0.9278BTC would be the cost including priority shipping.

The Bitcoin address in my profile works:1JXwGd1N8eP4WWMP6mLe6UNAycDhzqvhJo

If you would like a unique Bitcoin address, I can do that as well. I'll pm you for your shipping info.

All PMs responded to, I'm happy to answer any questions and provide any help I can. Package has been shipped. (Not just shipping label printed, but actually shipped)

Beat that APMEX!

By comparison, the 40 Silver Eagles I've been expecting for about 3 days now shipped out on the 29th, and made three seperate stops on three different days less than 100 miles from where I'm at. Its taken 7 days for them to go what takes me a total of 4 hours to drive. Way to spring for a premium mailing option online bullion dealers!

I thought I'd demonstrate another neat trick for testing silver for those of you who don't have ultrasonic thickness gauges. Another trick that will do in a pinch works, because Silver has the highest thermal conductivity of any metal. This was a bit harder to show in a picture of, but

1) Set your piece of silver down on a room temperature surface.
2) Set an ice cube on top of it
3) Observe

https://i.imgur.com/97M549M.png

You should notice the icecube melting immediately if not sooner. When I set it on the bar as shown in the picture, the icecube started sliding around within a second or two, and there was a significant puddle of water within 5 seconds.

Neat trick, and it definitely does start sliding back and forth due to melting almost immediately, and puddle forms in 5-10 seconds (and silver bar gets cold quickly).

Just received 15x 1 oz bars from OP today, and we were discussing by PM. Also, I think we have the same countertops :D

Hallo Salty,

Should you tell me shipping cost to Italy , Cyprus and Hungary ?

There is any sort of insurance about shipping risk?

How many Gold you could provide (for example if i  need 500 gr gold you could provide it to me?)

Have you available 18 kt gold too?

For packages valued under $400, I can ship for about $30 to any of those countries via International Priority Mail Flat rate. If the package is valued at over $400 I need to ship via Priority Express International. I can purchase insurance for the package as well. For more accurate shipping figures, I'd need slightly more information such as order size, whether you would like insurance on the package, etc.

Right now I have a total of 52.5 grams of gold. Shipping charges for the gold should be reasonable since it is pretty light compared rolls of silver coins. I can provide as much gold as I currently have funds to purchase, though I couldn't do 500 grams in a single order right now as my business is just starting up, I don't have the capital to buy 500 grams outright.

I don't have any 18 kt gold right now, but I'd be happy to look into getting some in the future.

Thank for reply. I hope to get in business with you soon  :)

I actually looked into each country's legal stuff to make sure all was on the up and up. There are actually a couple differences from country to country.

Italy and Hungary requires that gold/platinum be sent via Priority Mail and insured. Not a big deal since that was pretty much the only option available anyway. Cyprus doesn't seem to care.

Italy Prohibited list:
Albums of any kind (of photographs, postcards, postage stamps, etc.).
Arms and weapons.
Articles of platinum or gold; jewelry; and other valuable articles unless sent as insured Priority Mail International parcels.
Artificial flowers and fruits and accessories for them.
Bells and other musical instruments and parts thereof.
Cartridge caps; cartridges.
Clocks and supplies for clocks.
Compound medicaments and medicines.
Coral mounted in any way.
Ether and chloroform.
Exposed photographic and cinematographic films.
Footwear of any kind.
Haberdashery and sewn articles of any kind, including trimmings and lace; handkerchiefs; scarves; shawls, needlework including stockings and gloves; bonnets, caps, and hats of any kind.
Hair and articles made of hair.
Human remains.
Leather goods.
Lighters and their parts, including lighter flints.
Lithium cells and batteries - including items containing lithium cells and batteries under 135.6.
Live bees, leeches, and silkworms.
Live plants and animals.
Nutmeg, vanilla; sea salt, rock salt; saffron.
Parasites and predators of harmful insects.
Perfumery goods of all kinds (except soap).
Playing cards of any kind.
Postage stamps in sealed or unsealed First-Class Mail International shipments.
Radioactive materials.
Ribbons for typewriters.
Roasted or ground coffee and its substitutes; roasted chicory.
Saccharine and all products containing saccharine.
Salted, smoked or otherwise prepared meats; fats; and lard.
Tobacco.
Toys not made wholly of wood.
Treated skins and furs.
Weapons of any kind and spare parts for them

Hungary Prohibited List:
Coins; banknotes; currency notes (paper money); securities payable to bearer; traveler's checks; platinum, gold, and silver, manufactured or not; precious stones; jewelry; and other valuable articles, unless sent in insured Priority Mail International parcels.
Radioactive materials.

Cyprus Prohibited List:
Books or other publications giving instructions regarding the construction, operation, maintenance, or care of any prohibited firearm, other than a harpoon gun used for fishing purposes, and excluding books and publications imported by the Cyprus Police Force or any Cyprus Department of Government.
Daggers.
Explosives and flammable substances.
Leeches and silkworms.
Postcards of private manufacture having illustrated designs not previously approved by the Cyprus Post Office.
Radioactive materials.
Rifles and repeating firearms.
Seditious publications.

I dont at the moment. For starting out, larger than 10 gram bars take too much capital and lock it up until someone purchases it. I could either stock a 1 oz gold coin or 70 ounces of silver for example, I have a lot better turnaround on 70 oz of silver vs waiting for one buyer who is interested in 1 oz of gold.

Well thats not a problem, I typically buy things that are overstocked from online dealers and discounted. I just asked if you had anything particular in mind so that I could keep an eye out for it. I wouldn't need any sort of deposit until the second I place the order.

The most popular on the market are Pamp Suisse (Swiss), Credit Suisse (Swiss), and Perth (Australian). There are also 1 oz gold bars made by most major companies like APMEX, and such. There are specialty prettier bars like the lunar series as well. If you are looking for something semi standard, you can check these APMEX links for
1 oz gold bars: http://www.apmex.com/category/19420/1-oz-bullion-gold-bars-rounds
1 oz specialty gold bars: http://www.apmex.com/category/19425/1-oz-specialty-gold-bars-rounds

There are probably a billion others as well, but if you have absolutely no idea what you would like, shopping around is a good place to start.

Thanks,

It depends on which you are interested in. Unless I can find the bar overstocked or get a bulk discount rate when I buy them, I can't offer the greatest deals on them. At the very best about 10% under what they are listed for from an online retailer and that doesn't factor in shipping costs, insurance, and such. If you aren't in much of a hurry and you are looking to get the best deal possible, you can shoot me a list of things you like the look of, and I can look out for them. If you want one right away, the deal wouldn't be that great, but I'd be happy to get you a quote.

When it comes to non fractional gold, I don't have nearly the buying power needed to get bulk discounts (you won't see much sub $100k purchased) so I need to rely on overstocked and fiscal year end discounts.

After noon on Saturday, I will not be taking orders until I'm back in town. I will begin taking orders again on Monday the 22nd and start shipping again on the 23rd.

Do you have any junk silver coins and do you ship to Canada?

I do ship to Canada. I just ask that international customers are aware of their own importation laws. My postage printing software alerts me of what can and can't be shipped before printing a label, but it doesn't give in depth info like if any VAT is applicable and if so at what value threshold and what %. Canada is pretty easy given North America's trade agreements, so it isn't nearly as much of a problem as say shipping to Australia.

I don't have any junk silver coins at the moment, but every time I place an order I find myself looking at them. I've sold 90% silver coins before and found that there was relatively little interest so I've been hesitant to order more. That said, I probably will purchase US Silver Quarters/Dimes/Half Dollars as well as the older seated liberties/walking liberties etc in the near future. I don't know that much about foreign silver coins so its not very likely that I'll order many of those, but that could change.

I appreciate your attitude, sir! I will likely give you a try for a purchase in the future

Thanks for the response. I only buy junk silver coins because they are easy to identify and expensive to fake so I trust them more than bullion bars. I used to sell them online and never encountered a problem with any kind of taxation, I think because they fall more under the numismatic collectable category rather than bullion.

If you do decide to buy some I am sure I will pick some up at some time, I will watch this topic for updates.

I was curious so I looked into it but found so much conflicting information I'm not sure what is right. Some sources say .999 silver isn't taxed, some say only legal tender coins aren't taxed, some say they aren't taxed as all except when you go to sell. I'm not knowledgeable enough about Canadian financial laws to determine what the right answer is. Either way, do what has worked for you.

One of the beauties of small increment silver bullion right now is that its incredibly rarely faked. The fakes that do exist are beyond terrible and so easy to pick out with the eye that they are a non issue. I actually saw a really good fake silver eagle one time, and it turns out it cost somewhere around $40-50 to make, which is hilarious because the real ones are half that price. In about 6 years of minor silver trading, I dont think I've ever had anyone try and pass off fake silver bullion to me. Alternatively, the first time I ever try and buy gold over 1/10th of an oz, the first thing I get is fake. My Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge paid for itself with a single use :) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1555690.msg15769186#msg15769186

I will definitely keep what you said in mind next time I order, and see about picking up 90% coinage. I've got one order coming in this week but its just a single 500 gram Geiger Silver Bar. I'll resume ordering when I get back from vacation. Nothing sucks worse than having metals left in your mailbox for a week while you are out of town.

I appreciate your attitude, sir! I will likely give you a try for a purchase in the future

Not a problem. Escrow is only a minor inconvenience. There are very few cases where a sale isn't worth the time to escrow, and that applies across the board. Let me know if there is anything in particular you are looking for.

Thanks again for the coins & great customer service Salty, looking forward to them!  8)

I cant bring everything to the table that large online dealers can, but I attempt to make up for that with quick shipping times, very competitive pricing, and quick responses/customer service. I'm sure you will be pretty excited by what you get when they arrive  :)

No problem, thanks for the reply. What's the story behind that last coin you posted, looks really cool! Thanks again, always enjoy your thread and posts! :D

Edit is that a giant octopus swallowing the ship? Super cool! :)

Yep, Its a 2 Oz silver coin produced by the Elemetal Mint as part of the Privateer series. One side shows the Kraken grabbing the ship, and the other side (well I'll just post a picture) says No Prey No Pay with the Jolly Roger.

http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/images/g/o9wAAOSwV0RXrgSr/s-l225.jpg

the rounds are obscenely detailed. The images stick about 3ish milimeters out of the face of the coin, by far one of my favorite pieces produced to date. On top of it all, they aren't super expensive at only $10 or so over spot.

*picture from ProvidentMetals

And heres a link where I'd recommend to buy them. There are 5 coins in the Privateer set, 4 of which are for sale at JMBullion. The Kraken/Siren are my favorite, the Captain and Plank are pretty neat too. The one that isn't listed here is called the Privateer. It was the first of the set and is quite pricey, but not as neat looking as the Kraken in my opinion.

I'll take one generic will you use trusted on site escrow or send first and I/escrow wouldn't release payment until I confirm its real?

Happy to use escrow, pmed.

I'm looking at the 10 Gram Gold Perth Bars for .7535 and I am thinking "is that right?"  because that is around $434.00. On other sites, like http://www.jmbullion.com/10-gram-perth-mint-gold-bar/, it is listed for $448.62.  Why is there such a difference in price?  Thanks

Yes, the price is correct.

JMBullion is essentially my competition. They are a major bullion dealer that accepts Bitcoin. In order to get anyone to buy from me, I need to beat their prices. If I sell mine for $448.62 and they accept Bitcoin as well, I'd never have a sale.

That said, where JMBullion accepts Bitcoin at the same rate as cash/check, I can often trade BTC that I get from metal sales for fiat at a better rate. That way I'm able to offer bullion at under market rate, but still make something for my time. If you check everything I'm selling, its all well under market rates as I rely on the exchange rate whereas dealers rely on the premium over spot price to make their profit.

Thread is still active, just haven't updated it as I'm waiting for a few things to come in before I do so. Silver spot price is down quite a bit and the prices are moving up and down pretty rapidly so I haven't updated the prices. Next to every item is a breakdown of what I'm charging in terms of spot price + a premium, so in any case, that will be the correct price.

I have had a set of the Privateer series 2oz rounds and can recommend them.

The design is in high relief with good detail well worth the small premium.

I'm interested in 2016 gold pandas

Question:

I've got a few more things that I haven't listed yet that I'll probably get around to midweek so that I can do it all in one swoop. I do not have any 2016 gold pandas however. I'm actually really hesitant to order gold, especially non fractional pieces. I've had 2.5-10 gram bars listed at around that of which a pawn shop would give me for them and no one has bit yet. I'm under the impression that if I throw my funds into gold, it will be locked up for quite some time.

People have been most interested in generic silver at as close to spot price as I can get, so thats what I've been stocking.

I have had a set of the Privateer series 2oz rounds and can recommend them.

The design is in high relief with good detail well worth the small premium.

I couldn't agree more. I've only got one set at the moment so I'm not selling them, but I very well might in the near future if I can find a decent deal on them and order more.

Listed a couple of new things that came in, notable the Elemetal Kraken rounds. Honestly speaking, if no one buys these, I'll be perfectly alright with that. These are in my opinion the most beautiful rounds I've ever seen. The detail is outstanding. If I threw a sticker on the back of it and called it a silver wallet, they'd sell out at 10x the asking price.

Single orders will receive free 1st class shipping, if you order 3 or more, priority shipping will be included.

*as a side note, the Provident Metals logo in the bottom left of the round is not actually on the coin  :P
they just had a reasonably sized picture that showed the detail well available, that I'm borrowing.

It is not as simple as you think.

The best success of making "coin" wallet is - design of "coin" should as ugly as you can do it.

Just look on what are they selling - being in coins collection from 1985 I would like to cry when I see those pieces of shit.

So your coins are too good for wallets.

I have no hate for the physical bitcoin makers, but I feel the same way. I know the cost associated with producing coins, and the premiums associated with even rare/historical/low mintage coins, and what people trade physical BTC for makes me cringe. I had a 1 oz silver coin (not really historical or anything) with a total mintage of 1000 and it was MS70 (1 of 15 MS70 coins in existence) and it sold at ~$250 over spot value. 1 BTC Brass Cas coins have a far greater premium than that, and they cost like $3 to produce.

I've been considering making my own Bitcoin related bullion and selling it at a reasonable premium ~$5 over spot for a while. Maybe throw a piece of duct tape over the back with a piece of a sticky note that has a bitcoin address on it. I have my eye on a 50/100 ton hydraulic press, but I'm having a hard time deciding where I'd put it.

If you are serious in this - i would like to participate. What this project will need is - a great designer and coin concept.

And of course premium will not be $5 over melt

Having coins created isn't all that difficult or expensive. Selling at $5 over spot wouldn't be overly profitable, but it would be feasible. The upfront costs are $350-500 for the dies, the blanks themselves, and the design cost.

I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually, but as I said I don't really have the space to put a 50/100 ton hydraulic press at the moment. When I do get to it, I might grab a 200 ton one so that I can do US Mint styled quick strikes for the high relief proof stuff. The fancier things would be slightly more, probably like $10 over spot, but none of this 0.5-1 BTC premium nonsense.

You dont need a press. All you need to send your die to "mint" company and raw silver material

Thats the lame way to do it. I want to actually mint the coins myself so I can hand number the pieces and such.

About $4 for first class mail. I believe that comes with tracking to some extent though I'd have to go through the shipping label ordering process to be sure. Priority is around $30 and I know that would come with tracking, though I probably wouldn't recommend that option.

Kidding aside, have you shipped overseas, like somewhere in the Philippines? I want to buy some of them coins for my collection. I do have a package forwarder but i have to fill a box before it gets shipped or else i pay full premium for it.

I may have shipped to the Philippines once or twice, but I don't recall in particular. I have shipped to various countries overseas a multitude of times though. The only countries that I know of that I won't ship to, are Australia and Germany (as well as countries with US trade embargoes). I'd have to double check the Philippines' laws in particular on the importation of metals but it shouldn't be an issue. Typically speaking, if you are over a certain $ value threshold, customs will impose some VAT, the value of which changes on a country by country basis. I've never had any packages go missing, however because tracking stops updating for me once the package leaves the country, should any issue happen, I wouldn't be able to help.

One additional condition of shipping out of the country that doesn't apply to any orders placed from the US, is I need a phone number and email address. No I wont call you, but in case customs needs to contact you. Bad things happen if I don't provide contact info for the package recipient.

And one last piece of information. I declare package value at spot value. I figure if a package goes missing, insurance will only cover the spot value of metals, so its fair that I declare the package value at what the post office values the package at. I will not however falsify any information, though I will try and downplay the contents in the description, often as "Collectable Coins" to try and prevent theft.

PS: The moon skeleton pirates are a couple of pay grades above me, right now its only LED flash lights that turn me into a skeleton.

Here is quote from USPS regarding shipping items to Philippines:

Quote
Prohibitions for Shipping to Philippines

Coffee in any form.
Coins; currency notes or securities of any kind payable to bearer; traveler's checks; platinum, gold, or silver (whether manufactured or not); precious stones; or other valuable articles.
Liquids, easily liquefiable items, and glass or similarly fragile articles.
Firearms and weapons and parts thereof; ammunition.
Gambling devices.
Lottery tickets, circulars, or advertisements relating to lotteries.
Perishable infectious biological substances.
Perishable noninfectious biological substances.
Radioactive materials.

Restrictions for Shipping to Philippines

No list furnished.

I've got a shipping software that elaborates on all of the legal breakdowns for each country. The USPS website kind of puts a blanket statement out, but it is often not straightforward. It may say that its flat out prohibited right there, but there may just be restrictions. Things like, how much you can send, what shipping service you need to use, etc.

Italy for example, any package containing metals over $100 must be shipped via priority mail and be manufactured in a given list of countries, etc etc. It very well could be not allowed, but that wasn't the case last I heard.

*edit* You are correct, I cannot ship to the Philippines, it is an absolute prohibition, not a restricted item.

So no, I'm unable to ship to the Philippines, sorry about that. On the upside, I can now spell Philippines.

I do intend on getting more of the others if I can find them. My last Kraken order bought out the entire stock from two rather large bullion dealers. Hopefully I can still find the others. The Elemetal privateer series is the one I don't mind if anyone purchases or not, because I'd be happy to hoard them myself.

From the picture I posted a couple of days ago, I am missing the first of the set, the Privateer. I was going to order a couple, but they are around 400% spot price. Not as pretty as the Kraken and Siren in my opinion, but theres no way this isn't a popular set. Finding them once they are completely sold out will be hell methinks.

You definitely should stay in US at least a week or two, but if you have a limited time just pay $10 more and get your package in two days
Pay more and it will be delivered overnight

There are also services in New York which ship to Philippines. One dude purchased from me a photo lens. So I ship to NY and they ship to Philippines. Check with them on shipping of silver.

Having gotten my Kraken coin the other day, all I can say is yes, they are truly an awesome series. I hope to get all of them and possibly get a custom made case/box for them. Very Very detailed and amazing coins for sure.

Also, this is REALLY COOL.. However, I would not risk that, I'm too new at this stuff!!

Salty, I got a quick question for you. What are the resale value of coins that are in a set compared to single pieces that are from a specific sets? I might get into reselling them soon, if and when my cabinet fills up to the brim.  ;D

I'm actually not really sure. I don't think I've ever noticed a major price increase for sets. You can however generate more interest with sets which I suppose would drive up the amount of potential buyers you have, increasing the sale price potential.

I do believe numismatic sets are something that is done. I've seen people selling sets of 1986-2016 MS70 Silver Eagles, though I've never broken down the individual price vs set price.

Sorry not much has been updated inventory wise for a week or so, but all prices updated today. I've got a big order in store that I'm trying to accumulate additional funds for.

Because of this, I'm going to offer a special sale on all gold products. I will offer all 5g/10g bars at SPOT PRICE~! This is a limited time offer for the sake of ordering new inventory.

Anyone who purchases bullion knows that gold is incredibly if not impossibly hard to find without a premium, and even more so for fractional pieces like my 2.5/5/10 gram bars. Do not miss out on this sale, chances are good no one will ever offer it again.

If thats true, open up your own shop immediately if not sooner and buy from them to resell. The US Mint doesn't even get silver at spot price. Spot price is the theoretical minimum price of the value of silver based on paper IOUs being traded back and forth on stock exchanges, it doesn't begin to consider minting costs, shipping, taxes, business overhead, etc.

If you are serious and they are willing to ship metals to me, I'd be more than happy to buy massive quantities from them.

Yep, I'm taking a loss on it, thats why its a one time sale. I probably wont stock gold bullion anymore unless its something really special. Just not enough people interested in it, and it takes up too much of my capital for too long.

Of course I'm not going to refuse the sale, but I would probably recommend against it. Given that I dont think theres any way to keep it under the taxable threshold, you would end up paying any applicable import taxes on it. If you are fine with that, its not a problem, but I don't think praying that it wont be surcharged at customs is likely to work. Regardless, let me know if you would like it, and I'll pull it from sale.

That said! The 2.5 gram bar is not part of my gold sale. It still does have the premium on it which I have listed as $10 over spot. Pamp bars are quite a bit more expensive than most other brands because they are a premium brand and kind of pretty.

All of that said, I do appreciate that you are willing to help me out, but please don't feel obligated to do so. I'm not really in a huge rush. Until my gold products are gone though, it just delays my next large silver order.

Hi, thanks for explaining the situation.
I will take it,I have some bitcoins to spent and at the worst scenario I will end up paying extra few bucks, it seems to be a nice gold bar.
Please lock the price as well, because I have already prepared the bitcoins to fund this purchase.

All gold has been sold. I'm a bit hesitant to stock more gold, but in the future I'll probably go the direction of ordering more interesting looking pieces rather than just bullion. Figured people would rather have the lowest price possible, but it seems that people are willing to pay a little more for something pretty to look at.

Yep, someone came along and bought it all up in one swoop. Not hugely surprising, I'm just a little confused as to why it took so long. I bought a lot of those bars at $10-20 over spot value myself. I'm shocked it took this long and this much effort to move fractional gold bars.

I'm debating whether or not to bother buying more gold. I pretty much just bought it for a little diversity in my products. I'm going to look at the slightly higher premium prettier gold and maybe platinum bullion on my next purchase.

any wiggle room on the geiger

Thanks for asking, of course I encourage people to ask.

At $2/oz over spot, my geiger bar is currently $345.50 in BTC http://btc-priceimg.herokuapp.com/img/345.50

After you asked, I went to a couple of my go to sites and price checked. These are their lowest cash prices, dealers charge more for Paypal and credit card transactions.

JMBullion's current price is: $356.89
APMEX's: $357.84
Ebay: $367.82
ProvidentMetals: Out of Stock

I'm currently $0.70/ounce under JMBullion's lowest price. For that reason, I don't really have much wiggle room there. On top of that, I take another $6 hit because I'm offering free shipping.

So I placed the majority of my restocking order today. When things start arriving, I'll update the thread and update prices and such.

As for a hint of what I have coming in,
(2)BIG Silver coins (debating whether or not I'll sell one or both, THEY ARE MINE!)
(10) 2 Oz Coins from across the pond
(2) MS70 Gold pieces in the same spirit as the BIG Silver coins
(50) 1 Oz silver bars
(3) MS69 Silver Eagles
and something a little interesting that I think will get Bitcoiner's attention. Its a 2 oz proof piece from a mint I've patronized before. Less than 250 were produced, and its definitely in the general spirit of the forum, so we will see how long that lasts.

Once everything arrives of course I'll reveal all of the details, but for now I at least wanted to give everyone a heads up that some new things will be arriving. I may delay listing a few things so that I can order cases for a couple of the pieces that may need them.

All prices are updated and my teased "BIG" silver rounds are in! Keep in mind I also teased that I'd be soon receiving some gold in the same spirit as these.  ;)

I'm now offering (2) 1 Kilogram 2011 Perth Lunar Year of the Rabbit Coins. These guys are massive, quite literally nearly the size of a real rabbit. 1 Kilogram is 32.15 Troy ounces for those of you doing the conversion, so if you have a 1 ounce coin laying around, consider these ones 32x larger. These also come in large acrylic airtite containers, so you can pat them as much as you would like!

Perth is one of the most distinguished mints, being particularly well known for their zodiac series. Every year since 1999 they have released coins with relation to that year's zodiac animal. 2011 was the Year of the Rabbit, and these cute fellows were minted.

This year may be the year of the rooster, but screw that, rabbits all what its all about! Oh, the coins also have some old broad on the back and are legal tender in Australia, making them coins rather than rounds.

And as always, this is a stock image for the sake of convenience. If someone is interested, I'd be happy to take pictures of the ones I have.

The 2 Oz Silver Kraken is there for size comparison. These are BIG coins. As shown, they come in giant acrylic airtite cases direct from the mint. These are about $5/oz over spot value, shipping is free. These are definitely not just Silver Bullion. As I mentioned before, these are part of the Perth Lunar Series. Each year, the Perth mint in Australia produces bullion related to that year's zodiac symbol. 2017 is the Year of the Rooster, 2011 was the Year of the Rabbit, etc. The mintage figures aren't as low as some other collectible coins that are produced in extreme low batches, but its safe to say that the lunar series is the most collected series of any, so the premium is higher than others.

I also have the 1 oz and 2 oz versions of this coin in my personal collection. The premium on both of those coins is about $20+/spot per ounce or >100% premium. Larger bullion has a lower premium per ounce of course, as it takes less effort, electricity, and machine wear to make 1 32.15Oz coin versus 32 1 Oz coins, but as I stated, this is not something that will ever approach spot value.

I'm personally a rabbit fan, so the 2011 Perth Year of the Rabbit coins are on my top 5 favorite list.

Actual photos of the Rabbits and Eagles uploaded. The photos are not stock.

As a side note, the MS70 1/10 oz gold rabbits are OBSCENELY difficult to find. There is not a single online bullion dealer, reputable or not selling them. If anyone happens to find someone else selling them, I'd greatly appreciate a link. Trying to compare prices is tough when no one else is selling them.

I've got a handful of the year of the dragon 1 oz rounds, but those are in my personal collection at the moment and not for sale. I believe the Perth Lunar series may have been my introduction to numismatic coins. I've got all of them produced so far. At least in silver.

The 2000 Lunar Dragons come in 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 2 oz, 10 oz, and 1 Kg. The 10 oz and 1 Kg are exceedingly hard to find, at least at a decent price, as under 10,000 were minted. If I recall something like 7500 of each were minted. The 1/2 and 2 oz were something like 50,000 made, and the 1 oz around 100,000 made (again if Im not mistaken)

APMEX is definitely not known for having the lowest prices, but just to give you an idea, they are selling the  1Kg dragon at $1300 cash price, and $700 cash price for the 10 oz. I can certainly find better, but what I mean is don't expect to find a $1300 piece for spot value or anything near that.

I'll keep a lookout for the 10 oz and kilogram 2012 dragons. Are you interested in any of the 2000 dragons or anything else?

The 1st Lunar Series in particular can get crazy expensive. It wasn't until late into the series or the beginning of the 2nd series that they really became popular. By the time there were 50,000 buyers lined up for each piece, they were all left fighting over the limited number produced. I looked up the mintage of all of the pieces of the series by metal and size, funny enough, they have 1KG pieces that they minted about 1,000 of. Some of the gold coins only have 2 minted per year.

Now Perth produces a pretty large amount of coins to keep up with demand, but going back and finding the older coins at a decent price is tough.
