Title: Bitinstant -> MTgox problem funds not showing up

Hello all,
So I made a cash deposit at my local CVS using bitinstant to zipzap to my mtgox account and got an email from bitinstant about 30 minutes later saying that the transfer was complete and i thought that it would give me a coupon code for mtgox however it said the funds ha be deposited directly to my mtgox account. however when i checked my mtgox account it said i still had no funds added and even now 5 hours later there is still no funds added. I emailed bitinstant support but no response yet. I just want to know that the funds will be transferred soon hopefully because of a tight budget i really cannot afford to lose this money. is there anyway to check and see if it is still being transferred or what? thank you in advance to anyone who helps!

So, for them to have been able to deposit it into your Mt. Gox account means you would have needed to have entered your Mt. Gox account number.   Do you remember doing that?  If not, then there will be some manual followup work from you to get your Mt. Gox account number to them so they can apply the funds correctly.

Either way, there is a support thread for these inquiries where you'll want to post to get a faster response (they probably aren't hunting around the Newbies forum board looking for customer support inquiries).

I did put in my account number which is why i am troubled by the not fund showing up, but thank you for the response and i will post in the support forums!

Does anyone know when this issue started? I would like to know if anyone has actually got their coin and if so whats the average time? Several days seems so vague.... I just did my first transaction last night at CVS Moneygram and am now in the exact same situation as the OP. I emailed bitinstant support but either they are super behind or are just ignoring people with this issue. Any extra info would be appreciated.

Well, i shoulda read this before I went to CVS... my bitinstant deposit is trapped in the Cyberspace Void. I did receive a timely email from bitInstant with a MtGox answerback so it seems that BI  did their part, but there seems to be no way to reach MtGox (support messages not acknowledged, chat window is fubar after waiting for two hours, and counting, for an "agent" to show up).
meantime the price of my coveted BC's inches upwards and the capitalist in me growls and rages  >:(
Anyone know how to reach MtGox? I'll use the AT&T Translator service and call Tokyo in the wee hours...

I performed the bitinstant printout --> cash --> CVS --> Moneygram/zipzap --> zipzap confirmation --> bitinstant confirmation to MtGOX account (within 10 minutes) but have not seen anything in MtGOX account after 3 hours.

I am having the same problem, I made 3 deposits on Thursday and I have only received 2 deposits into the account. Those went into my account on Thursday and the largest deposit never did. I also tried to redeem code and nothing happened it said "non existing or already used" but you can clearly see in my account history that it hasn't been used.

I'm having the same issue with getting my funds activated at MTGOX. It tells me "This code cannot be redeemed (non existing or already used". It's been 24 hours.

Any help would be appreciated... Kevin

I made 2 transfers to mtgox via bitinstant. Neither of the 2 were credited to my mtgox account.  Then they provided me with the coupon for one of them which went right through and credited my account.  But now it has been 24 hrs and the representative has not responded to my email regarding the second transfer.  I am getting worried. I have left 2 voice mails and about 4 emails and have not gotten a response.

What is going on?

Yankee, by providing support in a dozen threads what that does is encourage more support requests in those threads or gives incentive for more threads to be created.

Perhaps for each and every instance of support requested outside the BitInstant support thread the best response would be to direct the person to post (or re-post) their inquiry in the BitInstant support thread.  Having fewer points of contact (i.e, not spread out here, there and everywhere) provides a better level of service to them.

I'm having a similar problem, or identical I should say.. Yet it has been a week since I've sent off money via ZipZap to Mtgox, but to no avail, no results whatsoever.. I've done the typical emailing of the administrators, but of course their either in on it, or could jus care less.. When I go to ZipZap & put in my account #, it shows that fund have been added but I have yet to recieve a confirmation email from Mtgox.. & though it wasn't a cosiderable amount of money, its still my money, & I have reason 2 be concerned... How do they expect people 2 continue to do business through them if  these are the kinds of problems we have to face..???????????? know what I mean guyz??? If I cant trust U with $200, what makes you think I'm a send more.. Its truly ridiculous..     ???

I am having a similar problem, too. I made a $500 dollar deposit to MTGOX through walmart>Zipzap using bitinstant, and while bitinstant says the order was deposited, and so does zipzap, the money has not arrived. I contacted MTGOX and they assure me the problem is on Bitinstant's end, but I can't get a response from them. The deposit was made almost 2 WEEKS AGO! this is pretty ridiculous.
Please Help!

I am having a different issue I deposited money in my Mtgox account and I missed one number on my account and supposedly there is another user out there with the same account number as mine minus ONE number and they are saying my funds cannot not be refunded...I have just filled a small claims lawsuit against Mtgox and Bitinstant... and will file a subpoena for the information to the  "incorrect" account number because it's baffling to think that a multi million dollar corporation has two different users with account numbers that are different by ONE digit and on top of that it's not like it's a different number my account just have one extra digit... ie: mine would M....888X and I accidentally put in M....88Z so now they are saying the funds have been sent and they can't retrieve them... if this is the case HOLYSHIT what a huge security issue to know that there are hundreds if not thousands of users with account numbers that are almost identical... keep me posted on  ur progress.

Diallois, I am in the same boat as you are.  Actually, in my case, instead of M...(8 numbers)...X, my account number was entered as M...(last 6 numbers)...X.   After giving me the run-around in (thus far) 9 different emails from support, "Danny" has finally made it absolutely clear that MtGox's position is that the money was transferred to the wrong account and MtGox cannot recover it.  They claim that only Bitinstant can resolve the problem.

Putting together my situation with yours, one of two things is true:

  1) MtGox has some accounts with 6 numerical digits, others with 7 and still others with 8.  By both remarkable coincidence and extraordinarily poor planning, it miraculously happens to be the case that removing one number from your 8-digit account and removing two numbers from my 8-digit account number BOTH yielded legitimate, existing account numbers held by other members. 

       OR

  2) MtGox has a policy of embezzling any funds transferred by mistake to a non-existent account number.  If funds were transferred via Bitinstant to account number "UMFUFU666", those funds would disappear in exactly the same way.

I'm still trying to get their service people to clearly state this policy by email.  They are quite evasive and/or incompetent, but I have already received statements that are clear enough to be useful in a lawsuit.

My situation clearly reinforces your case and strongly suggests that there are many others in the same situation.  I'm very pleased to hear that you are suing them, since it appears that nothing short of legal action will persuade MtGox to abandon this policy.  Please let me know if I can help. 

At best, this policy constitutes a bad faith violation of their terms of service contract.  MtGox has tried to be vague about the contractual basis for its relationship with customers, presumably in order to facilitate getting away with whatever they please.  In order for Mutum Sigillum to obtain the licenses necessary to operate a money transfer service in the US, they would need a clear contract.  Thus this issue is indirectly related to the federal case that recently resulted in seizure of assets en route from Dwolla to MtGox; in both cases, Mutum Sigillum has attempted to benefit from operating in a gray legal area instead of complying with US laws that offer consumers some protection.

I do not hold Bitinstant completely blameless, because they could trivially modify their order interface to simply reject transfers to MtGox account numbers with the wrong number of digits.  I pointed this out to Bitinstant but they appear to have ignored my suggestion.  This oversight clearly pales in comparison to MtGox's policy of confiscating these funds, though, and Bitinstant presumably gains nothing whenever this happens.  Indeed, it is probably ultimately bad for them, since it alienates customers like you and me! 


btw, My recollection is that the number in my account was listed in the 6 digit form when I first opened my account, but I've been unable to find proof of this.  If anyone reading this has any info about historical changes in MtGox's account number format, I would be interested.
