Title: A list of nodes in each country/city
Post by: Seal on March 21, 2013, 12:22:46 PM
Is there a site which lists the number of nodes in each country/territory/city?

I'm hoping to do some data analysis to gauge a rough idea of the popularity of bitcoin in each country / city. This will help many developers spot potential opportunities where you would be able to use this kind of information to spot growth markets.

The best I've found so far are the Web GL Globes:

https://blockchain.info/nodes-globe?series=48hrs

I'm after data similar to that but in table form. Ideally I want a list of connected nodes each day / week / month.

Here is the raw data from http://blockchain.info/ip-log

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/58484379/bitcoin_ipv4.csv (Warning large file: 140 MB)

ipv4 is a unsigned int representing the ip address
last_connected is a unix timestamp
ignore counter
lat, long, city, country determined using http://www.maxmind.com/en/city

Should be possible to analyse it using http://vis.stanford.edu/wrangler/ or http://www.tableausoftware.com/products/public

Am I considered a node if I'm running the Satoshi client?
If so, am I considered a node when the computer my client is on is offline?

Hey piuk, when I click on the "Miners" link, is that the pools? It seems very few to be individual miners.

Spot on Piuk, thats exactly what I'm after. Big thanks. I'll release some findings soon and see if I can throw a few charts in there too.
