Title: Help a newbie out please
Post by: tg12345 on July 21, 2016, 05:15:03 AM
Hi everybody.  I'm a casino affiliate and a few of the programs I work with will only pay commission in BTC now.  I have about 30 BTC in Multibit, and I get about 10 BTC every month.  What should I do with it?  I don't need the money, so I could hold it indefinitely.  Is this the future?  I kinda think it is...should I just hold on to it?

If you don't need the money then put it all on a paper wallet and place the paper wallet somewhere safe. Check the price the next time you need money and see if it's worth enough to help you at the time and then sell it.

Thanks.  Paper wallet?  There are paper wallets?  I must google. :) More feedback welcome.  Basically, I have this BTC income stream that I don't know what to do with....

There are a lot of charities that accepts Bitcoin as a payment option. Just to name a few, I would add this website, but you will first have to verify it on their site. Go to http://bitcoinforcharity.com/bitcoin-charity-list/ < I do not need the money > is not a sentence you hear a lot around here. ^smile^

@shashank5119 Maybe he has a newbie rank here in this community but actually a badass in different site or other services :D 10btc every month is too good. Better convert it in real money even just a half of it, because bitcoin price is not stable, but there are a lot expecting that it will increase because of halving. Just save bitcoin for your future who knows what will happen to bitcoin years after.

if i was you, i would hold them maybe untill the price hit 1K dollars again, after that convert them to the fiat 20 bitcoin's i think and 5 bitcoin for short investment, and the rest for long term investment since we can't predict the future, who knows bitcoin would hit 10K dollars or even more.
Just dont gamble, or invest on hyip programs, coz holding bitcoin it'elf is one of the best investment.

search for "cold storage" in general and read about it, here is an example: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Cold_storage and also https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_set_up_a_secure_offline_savings_wallet

but you have to remember that bitcoin price is volatile which means it can change a lot so keeping it can also be risky on top of being so profitable.

10 Bitcoin is a colossal amount to be making every month. If i where you i would just buy what i need with the bitcoin and whatever you cant buy using bitc oin just cash out into fiat. If it was me id keep most of what i dont spend in the hop ethat it will go up in the years to come. Any tips on how you make so much each month? 10 btc per month is just a dream for most.

If you don't need money then you can store this amount of Bitcoins in a online or paper wallet for a price increase and when you need money you can sell this amount of Bitcoins for money or You can invest this Amount in Online or Offline buissnes for making profits....

Maybe that's not his money , or he keep it for casino bankroll purpose

Hmmm...okay, I make about 100k per month USD with my business.  But now a few of my clients will only pay me in BTC.  I think that's great for BTC, but I just don't know what to do with it.  I mean, eventually, there's only going to be 21M of these things, right?  Should I just hold on to them?   I wish I'd bought a shit-ton of them when they were 10 cents...whatever.

I would suggest you store it somewhere safe like cold storage or paper wallets and wait for the price to increase. You are possibly one of the biggest earners of bitcoin in the forum.

If you have no other option you could still donate it to me.  ;)

If you really don't need the money I would just save the coins on a hardware wallet.

Buy a wallet like a trezor and move your coins on there. That way, you don't have to think about them anymore and they are safe from hacking. You may even want to get multiple ones in case your device fails and you lose your back-up code.

The device costs around 100 usd without shipping, so that is hardly anything for keeping those amounts safe.

Haha, no, i've just been forced into bitcoin because a few of my clients will only pay me in bitcion now.  It makes sense though as the currency of the future.  None of the Star Wars or Star Trek movies or any sci-fi book have USD in it.  Paper money kinda seems silly now, doesn't it?  FYI i'm totally hammered and playing 3 tournaments on pokerstars...

Buy a Trezor immediately and hold it in cold storage, safely offline. come back to it in 8 years, then do some good with the money. Life isn't all about how much $$ you make

I believe that this is a joke. Newbie with such a big income in BTC....

However.... if you plan to use this money in the near future, a hardware wallet would be the way.
But since you don't... I'd say you generate (make sure you do that safely!!) a fair number of paper wallets, laminate them and fill them with your BTC.
Try to not keep them all in the same place.

Why this? Because your computer may get hacked or corrupted, an USb stick with hardware wallet will not live forever, but the paper inside plastic is a pretty safe and long term choice.

That doesn't mean he can't earn a lot if he is a newbie.  ;D This is just a forum "remember that" this is not really a working place.

As of the question of him, I say you just keep it. You said it is just a commission so it is like a freebie. Take it and store it but dont forget your password.

If you dont need your money then give it to me I need it  ;D congrats by the way  that you have sure profit per month and it's not small amount huh! But I don't recommend to just hold it,if you don't really need it then invest your monthly income to have more comming per month. Just be sure that the investment you want to enter is real, or create your own business.

If you get 10 BTC per month (I really doubts but anyway ...), you should hold onto it or spend it at Bitcoin accepting markets. You should be loyal to Bitcoin since this is what makes you more than 6000 USD per month. If you need the money (which you already said you don't), you can always withdraw like 2 or 3 Bitcoin. That should hold you long enough.

wow a person that earned at least 6500$ a month doesn't need a money, are you working with a big tycoon can you refer us there because we also wants to earned that too, bitcoin as mention will served as a investment so if you doesn't need it by now you can put it inside safe storage or a copy of a paper wallet or any kind of a safe device that you can be sure that it is on a safe place. good luck to you.

Someone on this forum once did something dramatic, he took his bitcoins, kept it in a usb disk, put the disk in a water-proof box, went to his backyard and buried the box three feet under.

In case you feel you have a tendency to spend money impulsively, get a paper wallet (Electrum is free) and keep your paper wallet somewhere that is not within easy reach ( and won't get damaged/soiled/stolen either).

i like your words "I don't need the money" and if you're really serious with your words why just spend it all at the casinos or handing out money to most people here it would be great however if you want good advice i'm agree such as suggest people here hold it into cold storage and make all your bitcoin as your future investment

Guys, let me clarify:  certain customers of mine (Bodog, for example) will now only pay me in BTC, so I had to set up a wallet.  I have about 30 BTC now and roughly 10 coming in each month.  My guy instinct is to hold on to them, since I don't need the cash right now.  Here's a pic for your amusement:

The thing is it is probably far more involved when it comes to what he's doing and he got in with the casino more than likely during the first week or so of its existence, and so he's a big member of the casino and can get paid a lot because of his work for it. It would make sense in a lot of situations. I doubt he's joking right now, but the numbers seem astronomically high.

As for OP, you can use paper wallets to store your Bitcoin offline, you could use some online wallets with 2 Factor Authentication to keep your funds safe, or you could buy a new pc, download a wallet to it, transfer the Bitcoin to the wallet and then keep it offline until you want to move your Bitcoin again.

And, OP, if you wouldn't mind, I'm curious about what you do and when you got involved to make such of an amount. I'm not interested in knowing who you are, what business, whatever, just curious about what your job involves. If you're willing to talk with me just hit me up with a PM.

If you don't need money now you can hold the amount of Bitcoins which you are getting per month into a online or a paper wallet and when in future you need money you can sell the Bitcoins you have the total. According to Bitcoin experts the price would increase in 2017 and it is more beneficial for you if you sell your Bitcoins in 2017.....

Wow that is alot of earning.  do you earn it thru affiliate?  Anyway if you don't need the money you can send it to charity.  Pretty much you will help alot of people.  And don't forget to save some for future use. you don't know when you will need them.

I have an email newsletter called "The No Deposit Bonus Newsletter".  I won't post links or anything, but you can google that if you want.  I work with 400+ different casinos.  500k+ people have opted in to get my emails.  Bitstarz is the only btc-focused casino i work with, but more and more of them are adopting btc.  I've only accidentally stumbled into btc, to be honest.  But now I need to learn. :) Okay, this 5 minutes between posting thing is a pain...

Several of you have suggested charity.  WTF is wrong with you? :) I'm trying to build a legacy for my kids and their kids and their kids.

You may want to consider never using a credit card online again? Up your security by doing your shopping with bitcoin. Start with an Overstock.com account. You can buy most anything now with bitcoin.  "cashing out" will mean giving up some profit, why do that when overstock gives you 3% off when using BTC?

well that's hard to be believed indeed, affiliate only gives dust sometimes,10 bitcoin per month is just too much but still have the possibility to be earned through affiliate
in other side,if OP really don't need money anymore(too rich) and having that much bitcoin, just save it for future purpose but fluctuation would bother you,if you wanna hold the value, simply convert it to fiat and save to your bank account

I would definitely suggest cold storage for some coins.
If you really have a large amount of BTC, it might even be worth it to get some sort of safety deposit box at a bank for your paper wallet.
I know that if I personally had a large amount of coins I would put most of them in cold storage if I didn't need the money right away.

keep to do things like that to continue to get 10 BTC every month, and hold it is the best way. because I believe in the future the price will be very high. so you really focus on your work at this time, if you just hold.

You have a good amount of bitcoins in your wallet, and you are lucky that you do not need it and the coming days are the pumping days of bitcoin, just hold them a little more I mean for about a few months you will get a better profit within a few months, it is also a possibility that you get double of that.

If you really earn 10 btc per month that is huge money and don't trust any exhanger or online wallet with all those big sum of bitcoin. Better store them in paperwallet (first make yourself aware about how actually paper wallet works). Yes hold them for few more years, you may make 50% to 100% more by few months/years.

it is a little hard to believe but only because OP is a newbie account posting this which is always a little shady.

but i don't think it is impossible to earn that much through affiliate marketing for a casino. because there are so many high rollers that if you can find then and introduce then to the casino with your affiliate link you can make a good amount if the casino is honest about the payment.

If you can afford to hold then hold for longer and I will say you have to hold them for years as in the future it will be the global currency and at that time almost all of the coins will be mined so in that it will be limited and the price will rise much higher with rapid speed. So you will be millionaire with your bitcoins.

Ummm...wow.  10 btc/month is like $6k.  I make considerably more than that, but a fraction comes in btc.  Anyways, not sure why some of you think I'm trolling.  I appreciate the advice and will look into the storage suggestions.
