Will moderators be paid for 'moderating'?

Yes, moderators get compensated for the time they spent watching over the forum.
IIRC the rates are based on their amount of reports handled, aswell as their status within the team.
Maybe a member of Staff can (and wants to) tell you more details about it.

They are paid an amount proportionate to the work they do(exact "formula" is known only to theymos), of the 25% of the BTC that forum gets each month from banner ads(the ones you see under the first post of a thread). Approx. 0.3+ per month for an active moderator like say Lauda

Edit: Now that I've said it, I don't think the 25% is an accurate percentage of ad funds that go to the mods, as I can't find it in the original thread. However I vaguely remember it from a similar discussion

And if you see the amount of crap that is sometimes released on this forum, it is a good thing they get payed.

They spend a lot of time keeping everything clean and tidy. Just imagine all the spam posts that the boards would be filled with if they were not here.

Of course they are paid to moderating but if you want to do the job without being paid simply tried to apply to become a moderator may you get that's jobs :)

It is 25%, this is posted in all the auction threads.

The amount that each mod gets is public information, they are paid to the address in their profile so anyone can look for themselves how much each mod gets.

Yes, they get paid. But I wouldn't say they get paid enough to have moderating simply as their job. They probably have a day job, too.

It also depends/seems to depend on the sections that you moderate. Mods for the local boards don't get 0.3.

Good thing that I used to change my address between payments :)

Moderating this forum is a day job, there are thousands of new posts on a daily basis.

Even if you change your address every month, it is still possible to figure out which address is yours. All someone needs to do is look at the txid (https://blockchain.info/tx/2d1e750cc209c2d974fba5f3c6ffce4ceb395cf8bdffef4b5a71abb7206a98db) of the most recent mod payment, and the txid (https://blockchain.info/tx/62af37da9238cce6a877053c240e166423cba6b61c0988b235dc909f909d4dd1) of the previous mod payment. It looks like not many mods change their addresses between payments, so it is fairly easy to deduct which changed address belongs to which mod. Except for this post, I really don't have any interest in trying to find your addresses, but I think your address from last month was 1Az1f7nR7oVn4bEPSqjveqQgu5vvzmXkiQ

Unfortunately this is one example as to what happens when you trade with someone who reuses addresses.

That is pretty low for having to monitor this place with all the crap that goes on around here from idiots that don't know what to do with their meaningless lives.
i mean wake up and come out of it already. ::)

Moderators are just compensated for their efforts.
You don't have to look at all the posts in this forum.

I'm not trying to kiss ass here, but the mods do a damn good job overall keeping the forum shitpost-free, and spam-free.  I've seen other forums that aren't moderated 1/10th as good as this one.  It's definitely a job I wouldn't want, though.  There are so many illiterate signature spammers using bitcointalk as their personal commode, and it would stink to high heaven if they had their way.  So props again to the mods.

Edit:  See wintermeasures below, giving an answer that was given better than and before his, earlier in the thread.  This is the type of moron who doesn't read threads, and just shits all over the place.

Yeah thought so as well until I saw the current adspace auction thread, there is no mention of a precise portion that goes towards the mods, which is why I imagined theymos has changed the "formula".
