Title: Faucet Lottery
Post by: Alanay on July 29, 2016, 03:33:54 PM
I had an idea a few days ago to create a Bitcoin faucet lottery. The way it works is many people will enter their Bitcoin address, after a certain time limit (likely 5-30m) a random address will be chosen and sent the complete faucet. So instead of getting $0.0005 dollars every 10 minutes from a regular lotto, you would enter this one and have a small chance to win something around $5-100 depending how popular it is. There will obviously be adverts displayed to fund the faucet and ad-blocker detectors will be used.

If there are any good Back-end Developers out there interested in trying this please message me. I'll pay for the hosting and anything else. I would also work on the Front-end, as I am experienced in CSS and some popular CSS frameworks.

I'd also like to hear any feedback or concerns you guys may have.

You will need a pretty substantial budget for advertising if you want to pull this off, the idea is not really unique.

It might be a good idea to check in the Services section of the forum if you're looking for devs to help you out :)

Something like the one in my signature? Maybe not 'like' but exactly? I came up with this idea before FreeBitco.in added the lottery features as seen from 'jacktheking' post history. I only managed to publish my site in mid last year. I know I am not the person who come up with free lottery idea but .. just sharing.

Anyway, it is not hard to manage since the revenues is split between users and owners neatly. However, as someone who is doing this, I can tell you that I've yet to break profit. I am paying about 10 USD every year for the domain. So 1 dollar per month for the domain. And my host is SteadyTurtle and I pay about 2 USD per month. Together, about 3 USD per month. Not to mention about advertising.

I only take 10% of the total revenue. Which is ... about (or sometime lesser than) 1 USD.

However, I've a feeling that as long as I continue, I will break-profit one day. Feel free to build a site similar to mine and compete with me. I like competition. Who know? Both of us might be earning a lot of Bitcoin one day due to our competition!?

See you!

Edit: I'd say I spent a lot of Bitcoin in donating to the lottery pot, advertising, giveaway and hosting before I could make it to where it is today - 1 USD per month (still losing 2 USD monthly though).

I found that website moments ago, it looks like the idea has been done before but I don't like the way they did it. You have to gamble your faucet to be given a lottery ticket, that's not the same as a faucet lottery where the prize is funded by people viewing advertisements. Their website is essentially the same as having a lotto in a chat which most casinos do if you gamble a certain amount. So my idea in my opinion at least is still pretty different. I haven't seen how you've implemented it but it doesn't sound as if it's going well for you. If you are taking only 10% you're doing it all wrong. Remember this is free. So it's not unfair if you take 50% which is what I would do. Getting 1,000 advert views generally means $10 profit. Take away $5 for the user who wins.

To the users saying I'll have to spend a substantial amount on advertising: that is simply untrue. Giving away something for free doesn't require a lot of advertising, and members can advertise it themselves with a simple referral system. I'm gonna guess I can expect to pay around $10-25 a month for advertising, no more than that. Then when we have at least a thousand players playing in each lotto we don't have to worry about advertising anymore because it will already be very profitable.

EDIT: Sorry I have mistaken your website for "freebitco.in" in the above post, please forgive me. I was talking about that website. Yours actually looks good, but you're still giving away way more than you need to. :)

If you are ready to give $5-$100 per 10 minutes, that's way to more than a faucet. Its not even a faucet, its a lottery. So take out the word faucet from your project.Just call it free bitcoin lottery with regular intervals. Two major problems I can point out with the idea

-A lot of cheating. If you can successfully implement one address per ip concept ,fine otherwise a lot of shill address would be added to the list.

-I'm assuming you will be monitizing the site with lot of adds, considering lottery is drawn every 10 mins,if you do the math, you will suffer a loss at the end of the day.

I said "what?" when I read the first paragraph. It's okay every makes mistake.

Anyway, 10% profit is doing pretty good - at least for now. If I would to take 50% off the total revenue, I do not think my lottery game would be as successful as it is today. And I would also like to tell you that my http://bitrevenues.com/ gain more than 1000 views per month (stats from clicky.com analysis software) with about nine type of advertisements, I do not make 10 USD per 1000 views. I'd say about less than 1 USD per 1000 impression.

If you won the jackpot, would you announce it to the world? No, probably not. The public announcement will make you a target for hacking and crazy jealous people who will flame you, because you won and they lost. You will also be flooded by beggars with soppy stories, to get you to share your winnings. ^hmmmmm^

I also think some of the lottery sites are dodgy, but I think freebitco.in is legit. ^smile^
