Title: How good is the IT job market these days? Post by: Bit_Happy on March 24, 2013, 05:35:33 AM Is the IT (USA or please specify your country if you want to) job market heating up/cooling off or steady, based on what you see recently?
Good for new grads? Bad for people over ~45, since companies can just hire younger for cheap? Please discuss. Title: Re: How good is the IT job market these days? Post by: hiltonizer on March 24, 2013, 06:07:30 AM actually it's hard to be younger, experience is out there and education isn't worth dick without the experience to put it into practice.
Been testing the waters to make a move. I went to a Voc school and started working IT in high school as part of that, giving me about 12 years experience and no college. I've worked for a startup, the state, microsoft, and am currently network admin for a public pharmaceutical company. No one seems to care that I never went to college, the bites keep coming. I'm being selective as I want a shorter commute, I live in NH and work in Boston currently. It really pays to be a generalist, specialties have seem to have gone the consultant route.
