Bitfinex Update: Platform Confirms Loss of About $72 Million to Hackers

Following the security breach that shook the Bitcoin community, the victimized digital currency exchange BitFinex yesterday revealed the damages it faced. The exchange’s communication manager Zane Tackett reported on Reddit that BitFinex has lost around 119,756 BTC (~$72 million) in the recent theft. As the law enforcers continue investigating the matter, Tackett didn’t reveal further details in the public domain...

These idiots are harming Bitcoin at a vital stage in it's growth phase... It just eliminates all positives things that are being done to promote Bitcoin. The Halving and the upward trend that originated

from that, where halted and turned around because of this hack. If this was managed correctly and the coins stored correctly, we would not have seen this happen. In cases like this, negligence should

have criminal charges being laid against these platforms or services. If nobody is held responsible for things like this, it will just continue in the future.

First step would be to withdraw all funds and coins from that exchange. And yes, Bitcoin was finally building up something nice, and once again everything that took us years to build up gets vanished in a matter of days by amateurs taking security not serious (if it wasn't theft committed by an employee).

Don't worry the community and news mediums will forget about it inside a month like they did with all the others.. Zero accountability.

By the way I like how nobody points out these big exchanges and casinos have no security infrastructure which is why things like SQLI, XSS, infected privileged users, and CGI script exec can be used to trivially rob them..
