Nothing I would trust that's for sure.
Some proof of stake altcoins have something similar to what you're describing, but Bitcoin uses proof of work.

As far as bitcoins go, any wallet that "gains interest" is probably just somebody trying to hoard as many coins as possible before disappearing, then blaming it on a hacker or the bitcoin protocol, claiming it's weak after they rob millions. It happens time after time and people still buy into it.

Can't trust it, bitcoins basically gain interest themselves. Grab some coin and disappear for a couple years, I promise it will gain more interest than the NYSE index or any money market account.

A proof of stake coin I have used is clam, this is because i have an investment in just-dice, this could be classed as interest but I don't think there is a wallet that pays it directly. You could use a feature such as the bitfinex funding option but this is very risky especially considering what has recently happened.

A normal bitcoin wallet can't have any interest, bitcoin works without intermediary systems.
If you have interest it means other people are using your money, do you trust these strangers? I haven't tried any interest wallets but the risk is the site hacked  :)

any wallet site that offers you interest on your bitcoin will not give you, your private keys so there is a huge risk that they can run away at any moment, just like the exchanges that ran away (or claimed they were hacked)!

Care to share this group of traders so other may invest with them to get that amount of interest monthly as well?  ;)
It will only benefit you in the long run since it comes back to you with the more investors in their service.

Any bitcoin wallet or site that claims to pay you interest on your bitcoins is probably a scam. That doesn't include exchanges where you can loan to other traders.

i know that there were a couple of exchanges that were Chinese i suppose and they gave you some profit over time on your deposits (i am not talking about lending , and all that other features they have but only on simple deposits and keeping your coins there.

but can you really trust them, is the question that you should have asked!

Title: Re: BTC wallet with interest?

I can not see how that should work. If the coins are on a wallet, only the wallet owner can use them.
How should a company offer interests when they can't wotk with the coins?
A btc company that offers interests must work with the coins they have (like a bank). That way the coins are not save.
So they offer some kind of investment, and that sounds a little bit like a cloud mining company to me.
I really do not trust those.

May be try poloniex. You can get interest on your bitcoin safetly on their lending section. I know this is not much, but at least you will not be scammed as they're a +ve reputed exchange.

I don't know any wallet that has an interest in it. Maybe when someone offers it then the owner has a hidden agenda behind it and will just try to accumulate coins then out of the blue the site will be gone along with your precious coins. If you want interest then maybe you can lend it but make sure that the borrower can pay you back and check his reputation first.

True, money needs to work to produce interest and as for Bitcoin i don't think we need an extra interest, the coin itself has a variable price!

in a couple month ago, i know one site that give interest in many coins, not just in bitcoin but unfortunately now that site is closed. i think if you want interest, you can try to lend your bitcoin in polo. the rate is adjustable with market. if market is up, then the percentage followed up. i am lend my bitcoin on polo too, because i think i can make more bitcoin, even with small amount that i can get it.

It would be hard to trust any wallets that offer interest on your bitcoins.

For any wallet or company to offer this they would have to be making money themselves from the bitcoins you have deposited and i don't know of many other ways they could make money from your coins apart from lending them out, if tha was the case you may as well start a P2P lending business yourself.

Mr.Capital Letter strikes again?
Anyway, i think that you can get interest only from loaning, i think there is no other way to get it.
If you dont like looking for people to loan money, you should go on poloniex, probably safest and fastest way to do it.

I never would try a wallet paying interest on my bitcoins, because it does not obey to a logic market feature. Actually most bitcoiners are interested in an increased and reliable security rather than this issue, and given the frequent scams in the bitcoin ecosystem, it would be enough for me to prefer a wallet.

As many people have pointed out before me, you shouldn't trust any Bitcoin wallet/deposit system, which promises you interest - that scheme is most offen used by ponzi scams, which are likely to grab your money and disappear with no trace. If you understand the risks and are prepared to lose your entire investment - then by all means, you can go ahead and try to profit in the short run.

There are some investment funds out there, which seem to be legit (like Grayscale (http://grayscale.co/bitcoin-investment-trust/) or Bitcoin Capital (http://www.bitcoincapital.io/)), but they aren't wallets - feel free to check them out.

As another people said, there is Haobtc wallet paying interest, but I think it doesn't worth. Too low income. I understand it's better than nothing, but even banks are paying higher income (and banks pay ver low income). Look their thread and take your own conclusions: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1023187.0

Investing on a safe place is better than this income...

Not possible with Bitcoin since it uses Proof of Work.

Should they in any manner provide you with interest, that would mean that they are using your Bitcoins, and like another poster in this thread, would you really trust strangers with your money that aren't landed?
(E.G: You don't really know where they are, so if they scam you, you can't really do much).

Its most likely a scam, even if its a long-term one.

Did you have earned 300.000 sat profit? After how much time did you got this profit?
And do they pay interest in altcoins or bitcoins? If they pay in altcoins it's dangerous, no?

Actually interest on your coins staked within wallet is counted under PoS (Proof of Stake) concept. Such coins are based on various algorithm which offer certain percentage to user who shows proof of stake by holding certain coin within wallet.

But for such coins user needs own desktop client wallet. It may be of any platform. But staking can give certain amount of coins to user after certain period of staking.

It does seem that they have reduced their rate of interest by a percent and a bit because of the increase of bitcoin price but from now
Magnr claims to give 1.28% interest on your bitcoins being held within your member account with them. So as an example they say you get 0.128btc over a year if you hold 10 bitcoin with them.
It doesn't seem like a lot but to the ones that put in more than 50 btc that is quite a bit but that is a year of holding it in that wallet so that is a long time to put trust in a company these days to even know if they will be around in that amount of time. :-\

As quoted it will be good but if such a service is provided by the wallet providers soon lot people starts using bitcoin. But such thing is not possible, because it affects the profiting of wallet service providers.

It wouldn't be good at all for bitcoin if wallets offering interest started popping up because within a year we would be going down the same downwards spiral as fiat is.
You see to offer interest on customers money bank are lending your money to other people, would you let your bitcoin wallet provider lend your bitcoins out to another user?

Bitcoin is about taking control of your own money back and if the wallet you store btc in lends it out to someone you don't know then you have lost all control over your money/bitcoins.

BTC wallet with interest?
From design its a scam, because it require someone else to have access to your funds.
I mean, he can give you interest rate, because he can use your bitcoins to invest and hope for big return, then give you some back for that.
That is too risky to trust anyone.

I would be careful when looking at wallet with interest. When choosing a wallet I am more interest in the security of my bitcoins than returns.

For the company to offer you interest on you coins they need to investment themself, making it more risky than just storing your coins. Better to do some research and invest them yourself in my opinion.

Some exchanges provide you interest because they can work with the money or other users need it for margin trading.
I advise you to be careful if you find a wallet that gives you interest (mostly smaller wallet providers) or give it a try with just a few Bitcoins to start/test.

There are wallets that generate interest but it is very small like under 6% a year so pretty much what a bank would give you but a bank would charge you bs fees. It is legit in the way it is a stable and doable investment and they let you know where the money comes from ot is totally legit. But !! The problem is you dont actually own your own coins when using an online wallet. You only truelly own them when you own the keys and wallet.DAT file so they could run one day. I'm not saying they will but you dont known that. I'm not sure what re coarse you could get if they ran.
