Title: bitcoin chess... Post by: minerops on June 12, 2011, 08:27:11 PM trying to get a feel of interest for low middle or high stakes (BTC) chess tournament(s)...
would need help with security to ensure no bots... Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: Anonymous on June 12, 2011, 08:28:42 PM I believe bots would be fair game. Humans would just have to evolve past them, haha.
Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: bustaballs on June 12, 2011, 08:36:36 PM Impossible to prevent cheating. Say you go first. I use an external bot, possibly on a different computer, to mimic your move and I just see what the computer's answer is and copy that. I did it a couple of times in Go when I was still a beginner to get back at the sandbaggers pretending to be worse than they really were so they could beat up newbies. But Go is too complex for computers after a certain level so cheating at high levels is impossible without having a better player than you tell you what moves to make.

Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: TradersEdgeDice on June 12, 2011, 09:14:07 PM If it is a game of Go, let the bots play. Somebody still has to put up real money for a game.
Use the web of trust GPG authentication method on each a login. You can ask for it if you plan allowing people to engage in gambling. Go originated as a gambling game. Confucius hated it. I had been banned from KGS multiple times for encouraging gambling and drugs (valium specifically for relaxation and PERFECT clarity in the chuban phase.) Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: bustaballs on June 12, 2011, 09:22:03 PM How strong are you, Traders?
Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: minerops on June 12, 2011, 09:34:51 PM this is interesting!
if bots were allowed everyone would be betting on bots sort of like a horse race. there would be some damn good games! Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: minerops on June 12, 2011, 10:48:23 PM ok so here's my contribution to this idea so far
http://74.77.138.186/ the ultimate low stake... playing against a computer while mining for me ! Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: Trypa on June 13, 2011, 12:27:39 AM make it a rapid tournament and you eliminate the bot problem
Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: TradersEdgeDice on June 13, 2011, 01:52:57 AM How strong are you, Traders? 8 kyu on 19 by 19 and a very nasty dan level player at 9 by 9. Haven't played a serious game in awhile. Been teaching my 6yo nephew and 3yo niece lately. It is part of my evil plan to unleash single digit age kyu players on the world. :-) Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: nhodges on June 13, 2011, 02:39:23 AM We can just organize the tournaments via webcam. >:]

Post by: minerops on June 13, 2011, 11:52:29 PM We can just organize the tournaments via webcam. >:] for the human tournaments, yes. soon we'll be half computer anyway so i think we should let the bots play eachother ... and bet on it Title: Re: bitcoin chess... Post by: Arctura on June 14, 2011, 03:08:06 AM This sounds cool!
Only an amateur at chess, and really low level in Go, but if this happens, I think I might join, at least for the low stakes games. Might even improve a bit. |
