Title: Question the profitability of running 5 x rx480
Post by: mewhoyou on August 28, 2016, 08:19:56 AM
I am running 5 RX 480 on a windows 7 on a nanopool. A rough calculation is that I make $150 a month from all 5 cards. My investment into it is about $2000 and my ROI is about a year. Are my calculation right??

You will never ROI when ETH goes PoS.

There always has been an altcoin present to mine with GPU. After ethereum, we can mine Krypton, Expanse, Shift, etc. @mewhoyou, in my opinion, you'll eventually ROI, even if ETH doesn't remain PoW.

your calculations are not right!
your ROI is the difference in the price you paid for the hardware & the hardware's resale value!
so if you paid $2000 for your hardware & you can sell them for, idk, $1500, your ROI is $500!
if you have fairly priced electricity you'll most probably roi & will make some profit; don't be much stressed about it!

etc will not go pos from what i've gathered, also with 5 x 480 at 30MH each it seem a bit wrong to do only $150 a month if electricity is not very high

You will probably not lose any money but you won't make anything worthwhile unless the price starts to increase.

The time and effort probably in the end wouldn't equal a minimum wage job.

And you should make $300 a month, not $150 with those 480s.

first of all, i really appreciate the community for the info. i am unable to get 30mh for my current 480. I am only averaging about 25mh. Yeah my figures does not include resell of the used equipment on a later stage as they might be bound to wear and tear and warranty voiding scenario such as burned and so forth... I will still push ahead...

Guys ... for 480, how can i get to 30mh?

It cannot with dual mining

It can be done with ROM and on single one

well i am planning to reach 1GHz if the figure works out so yeah .. it would be very good for me ... I am already at 125mhs right now .. lowered the power and now getting about 110mhs on the safe side .. once the new stock arrives to my local dealer store very likely i will push it to 1GHz... will shove all my antminer s2 and replace them with the new rigs. at least i can salvage most of the psu.
