What is BeginnerCoin (BGNR)?

BeginnerCoin is a free, open-source (https://github.com/BeginnerCoin/BeginnerCoin-Client) project designed to help lower the barrier to entry to cryptocurrency technology for the general public through widespread distribution of BGNR, the currency of the BeginnerCoin network.

Cryptocurrency can often be imposing to new users. It is initially difficult to comprehend and wrapped in a cloud of technical jargon.  The barrier to entry isn’t insurmountable, but we aim to lower it further and make it more accessible to anyone interested in learning in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

We wish to provide a stepping stone to attract new users and developers to realize and harness the great potential represented by Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

Our goal is give anyone with even modest computing ability the opportunity to try, experiment and play with cryptocurrencies without any risk of loss. We aim to give newcomers the confidence to use cryptocurrency software in their day-to-day lives and to conduct business. We are here to facilitate transactions to give all newcomers a true, hands-on experience in a risk-free environment.

We hope to open the eyes and minds of the general public to the incredible world of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency at no cost or risk... and to incentivize their involvement to join us in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

How is BGNR Being Distributed?

The cryptocurrency of BeginnerCoin, BGNR, is designed to be freely accessible and usable for everyone. That’s why we are continuously distributing large amounts of BGNR freely and publicly through our FreeBGNR.com faucet. (http://freebgnr.com) We aim to be the most widely distributed cryptocurrency available, and the clear choice for first-time cryptocurrency users to experiment with and try.

We also encourage miners to secure the network and pay 100 BGNR per block as a subsidy, the rate halving every 4 years. BeginnerCoin is a merge-mined coin to benefit from the network effect of the existing Bitcoin protocol.  This environmentally friendly option allows blockchain transactions to be validated and checked with no additional network load or electricity spent. Miners also enjoy the benefit of transaction fees each block, same as the Bitcoin network.

We also pay generous bounties (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0) to anyone willing to invest the time to help us promote cryptocurrency and develop hardware and software for the ecosystem.

How Can I Support BeginnerCoin (and Earn BGNR?)

There are many, many things you can do to support BeginnerCoin, and also earn BGNR.

See our full bounty board on the BeginnerCoin Forum (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/). This list will be expanded as time goes on and the community grows. That’s why we need you. Users may earn BGNR through community involvement.  Users are encouraged to research and learn together to explore, develop and grow in a community-friendly environment.

BeginnerCoin.com is entirely ad-free and users are encouraged to support our efforts through donations in Bitcoin and BGNR, as well as by providing liquidity for BGNR when available. To get your first BGNR in less than 5 minutes, download the BeginnerCoin Wallet (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=22.0), generate your receiving address (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=20.0), and then enter it into our ad-free FreeBGNR.com Faucet (http://freebgnr.com).

Thanks for the suggestions! Our team will discuss it tomorrow, but these bounties both sound like good ideas.

We are definitely open to bounty suggestions, preferably on our bounty forum board (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0), but we'll monitor this thread as well.

What do you mean by Indian? India is a country which has a lot of languages. Do you wish to translate into Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Marati, Malayalam....?? Which language. Please don't say " Indian Altcoin Board Translation" and make a joke out of your self.

Now don't jump at me, I have heard many senior members from other countries pointing this out.

Kind Regards!

For the past 3 hrs my wallet is not syncing, it is still out of sync, then how can i run the mining in wallet until it is not synced fully. Please help me what to do.

Right now the mining seems to be giving issue due a very large amount of power directed at the network.  Blocks are being mined very quickly, (current networkhashps : 56098388022) as the network is still very young and susceptible to high powered farms.

We don't have a pool up and running just yet, in the works.

You should however, still be able to sync.  I had an issue connecting at first this morning but I reset the host server and was able to connect and sync appropriately after.

Try restarting the program, and if you still cannot sync you can try adding the nodes manually to the client:

addnode=52.1.59.136
addnode=92.3.44.10
addnode=92.3.44.10
addnode=193.180.174.73

Now it is synced fully but after i put setgenerate true for mining through wallet in debug console column after some minutes the wallet get crashed and it is telling to ABORT OR RETRY and then it gets shut down.

How to add node as i am totally new to wallet mining.

Glad we got you synced, unfortunately in wallet mining isn't working seemingly due to the large amount of hash pointed at the network.  So no worries, you are on the same page as us :-)

We are working on it, and are hoping to have it resolved by today.

We planned on potential for this sort of high volume mining at first since the blocks are low hanging fruit atm.  That's a large reason why we chose to set such a high pre-mine to help insulate the inevitable flood of coins to a single very powerful miner.  We don't have access to that kind of juice on our own currently :-/

To add a node you would type 'addnode=XXXXX' with the X's as the IP address, but that's a moot point at the moment, if you are synced you be connected.

Type in getpeerinfo into your console and that will display a list of whom you are currently connected to.

Cheers!

To be clear, we're not looking for investors here, no ICO or anything like that. The 92 million block was generated to enable us to hand out large amounts via our faucet (in dev, ready very soon) and via our bounty forum.

BGNR is solely designed to help people who are completely new to Bitcoin/cryptocurrency to get comfortable using it.

Thanks for taking a look regardless!

Anyone else finding it impossible to sync this wallet after the error occurred?
I tried deleting the entire blockchain and syncing from scratch and it has still gotten stuck even though 11 active connections.
So it must be over 18 hours since I have been able to mine anything.

We will be setting up a faucet and automating distribution payments in the near future.  We are doing it it manually to start in order to foster more interaction with the community.

Right now we are trying to figure out why noone can sync to the network.  We are experiencing the same issue and unfortunately payments etc are not being processed for community bounty rewards.

Please be patient while we investigate the issue

ISSUE RESOLVED (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1605497.msg16197096#msg16197096)
BGNR Wallets Offline - Thank you for testing with us!

Three days ago we launched.  Roughly 8 hours after that we started getting a very large amount of power pointed at our network. Blocks were being mined at around 3-4/sec for 1.5 days straight with a network that progressively increased its hashing power against the difficulty.  This ended up with a difficulty 68,000,000 at block 10709 roughly 24 hours ago.  After mining that block, the rig logged and that's where we got stuck.  Since then between 2-10TH was pointed at the pool that www.mineblocks.eu (http://www.mineblocks.eu) had hosted. Today block 10710 mined, but it did not properly re-sync the network.

The difficulty is now 138 million, and at its current difficulty we would need a large, constant supply of high end hashing power that we simply do not have the access to.

This is something we should have prepared for and we will need to solve prior to moving forward.  We want to thank everyone for their participation in our project. We will be relaunching a coin in the future that will have these issues resolved.  As the user above correctly noticed, our forum is offline and the wallets are no longer be available to download. The network is currently re-syncing, so we plan to put the wallets back online if hashing power holds in the next 48-72 hours.

If you're interested in getting an e-mail notification for the re-launch (which will continue to be freely and widely distributed) sign up on our front-page here:

http://beginnercoin.com

Thank you again to everyone for your involvement!

Cheers,
BeginnerCoin Dev Team

You don't need access to it, miners do. It's normal for diff to rise with hash rate, that's supposed to happen. If the network is now syncronising - what's the problem? Abandoning a coin because the diff is too high seems....well.....silly tbh. It happens to all coins.

The large amount of hashing power pointed at the coin has stopped, which is causing blocks not to be processed at all (or very, very slowly - days). Even when the new block was finally found the network did not synchronize. It's not currently viable - but we'll be back, and we'll reward those who helped us test this time around. Thank you.

I did wonder what would happen if asics and powerful rigs  pointed at this coin for beginners. Maybe a cpu only algo would suit a beginner's coin better?
Maybe it could even be forked along the way to teach different algos and things later when more onboard.

Listing in novaexchange wont give much response to the coin, If the market get listed to yobit, bittrex , c-cex and polonix then it will get more exposure or else this coin will die in lower rate.

If the market get listed to yobit....

YoBit are a lying, thieving scam exchange with zero support - use them at your peril:

Every new coin starts from the beginning - more important is to build the user base. The rest will follow.

Hey everyone,

We've been monitoring the situation with the wallets. We're currently caught up and re-synced thanks to a boost in mining power pointed at us.

Right now, we plan to put the wallets back online in 48-72 hours if all continues to go well. We also hope to have our automatic faucet ready for you by then as well.

Thanks so much for the support and patience with us everyone.

Cheers,
BeginnerCoin Dev Team

UPDATES AND NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hello everyone, we are very excited today to announce a few updates.

First and foremost, we have re-enabled wallet downloads for all OS's. After monitoring the situation for several days now the network appears to have stabilized and we feel confident that should the difficulty spike again we have the tools at our disposal now to power through.  We are also drafting plans to further stabilize our network which we will be bringing to you in a future update.

FAUCET NOW OPERATIONAL

We now have a faucet (http://www.freebgnr.com) set up and it is ready to distribute BGNR to all who enter their receiving address!  Users who have previously claimed bounties from our forum are encouraged to post in the faucet to collect.  This will be replacing our BeginnerCoin.com receive address forum post bounty, we want to thank everyone who participated in that thread for getting started with us!

NEW BOUNTIES

Check out our Bounty Board (http://....) for more exciting updates! We have updated our BTC Talk Signature Bounty (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=34.msg36) and users who have already claimed this once can claim it again!  We also want to bring special attention to our Blockchain Explorer Bounty for an enterprising user who wants to cash in our largest bounty to date! (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=35.0)

We have more exciting updates in the works and more content coming to BeginnerCoin.com (http://www.beginnercoin.com/forum) to help our fellow BGNRs gain more knowledge about cryptocurrencies and how to intuitively operate them.  Be on the lookout for more mining related content as we continue to develop.

To all our users and miners we want to thank you again and again for your support.  We were frankly crestfallen after the initial network lockups and we cannot tell you how much it means to us to see dedicated users sticking with us through these initial hiccups. A big shoutout to www.mineblocks.eu (http://www.mineblocks.eu) for hosting our coin so quickly.  The hashing power provided by that network was instrumental in bringing us back from the brink.

We also want to extend a warm welcome to all new users!  Thanks for joining and learning with us!  We are excited to prove to you that cryptocurrencies are a force for all and we want YOU to learn how to empower yourself and your business with this revolutionary technology.

Stay tuned!

BeginnerCoin Dev Team

92,000,000 BGNR in Block 1

LOL  ;D

The reason why the coin is very cheap.

Our goal is outreach and education. We're distributing our BGNR to everyone perpetually via our new faucet. (http://freebgnr.com) We want to show complete beginners how to get their first coins, from start to finish. We have a very small amount in the faucet right now (we're testing, we want to make sure it works as expected) but we plan on scaling it up in the future if all goes well.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to let us know, thanks!

Thanks to everyone who has been testing our faucet! It looks like it's working as intended, so we've just added more BGNR.

Everyone using the faucet should be seeing double-digit BGNR payouts for a while. :-)

Go here to claim your BGNR: http://freebgnr.com

We've updated our translated pages as well with rough Google Translate versions on the update.  For those who have translated prior please feel free to touch up the updates and post in the threads below. Please link to your post in this thread with your BGNR receive address to claim the additional translation bounties!

Greek (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1606164)

Fillipino (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=post;topic=1609141)

Indonesian (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1609019)

There is no Google Translate for Mandarin so for anyone willing to translate, that bounty will be slightly higher.

It's only for beginners since anyone whose been around for more than a week would immediately balk at a pre-mine that huge :o

Even the explanation is laughable, 92 mil for a faucet that hands out "double digits" lol

Our intended audience is for people who've heard of Bitcoin but are not familiar with actually using the technology.  However, we welcome users of all experience levels since everyone can contribute to helping others learn.  We want people to use and familiarize themselves with using the wallets to see how they can use cryptocurrencies for themselves, either through their own altcoin or incorporating Bitcoin or other established currencies into their business.  Most the people whom we've talked to cryptocurrencies about have this idea that Bitcoin is the entire story and that it's a "hacker only" currency since that's what the majority of the media tends to focus on.

We hope to break that mindset by giving people direct access to a zero risk coin and letting them form their own opinions based on first hand experience. Our coin isn't a technological advancement to the existing blockchain technology or sighted at replacing Bitcoin or any other existing altcoin.  We firmly believe there is plenty of room for many types of coins for differing purposes.

We've been using Bitcoin for years and currently accept it for our other projects and businesses.  We've operated low power mining setups and have built and experimented with several other altcoins.

This is the first coin that we are authoring and distributing, we've internally tested in-house coins prior to launch, but this is our first public release.  We have much more planned beyond what you see so far to help newcomers get used to using the technology.

I hope that answers your question, please feel free to ask anything else!

Hi, thanks for the feedback - there is only a modest amount in the faucet right now, as we want to make sure it goes through more testing before we put a lot more BGNR into it. We're in this for the long-term and we intend to keep the faucet ad-free and funded indefinitely so that all first-time cryptocurrency users can see how the process works. We have a lot of other ideas for distribution but we're trying to take it one step at a time to avoid any major problems.

Just got a PM from sayyedraza - he's all synced up! The BGNR network should definitely be 100% live for everyone now.

If anyone else is having issues connecting, please don't hesitate to let us know. We're here to help.

For everyone who is already in, make sure you claim your free BGNR at our new ad-free faucet just released with the last BeginnerCoin update:

After deleting my chain 8 days ago to try syncing from scratch and also trying fresh install on another computer I can confirm these addnodes work!!

I copy/pasted them into beginnercoin.conf file manually created in same location as wallet.dat. Exit and restart beginnercoin-qt.

I am not getting anywhere mining with the wallet anymore but at least the faucet works :-)

Thanks a lot for confirming that it's working for you! We really appreciate the support.

The huge surge in mining power (which we are grateful for) does mean that solo-mining is not viable, but we hope to maintain fair payouts to everyone via the faucet over time.

Thanks for the support! We don't expect to get listed on the big exchanges immediately, but we hope the long-term fair distribution of BGNR through our faucet will help expand community support. We may contact exchanges after the network has been live for a few months, and some may list BGNR (https://novaexchange.com/market/BTC_BGNR/) independently as NovaExchange (http://novaexchange.com) did, but we are in no hurry to expand to more exchanges.

Our main goal right now is outreach and education. We also have many more developments in progress - please stay tuned!

Thanks for commenting and for the feedback! Yes, we're using the original BTC wallet look because that's the cryptocurrency most first-time users will be interested in, but we are offering a small bounty for updating the GUI. (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=27.0)

We may increase this bounty and a few others in the near future. :-)

Thanks a lot for joining us Ryan! I'm glad you're excited about BGNR and that the announcement was very clear (that's something we were specifically trying to do. We are trying hard to be beginner-oriented.)

Our goal is very straightforward - to get more people interested in and using cryptocurrency! Be sure to use some of the BGNR you're getting from the faucet to share and show friends and family how it all works. The more people that use cryptocurrency, the more the entire network (Bitcoin, BGNR and all other cryptocurrencies) is worth as a whole.

Hi James, thanks for the question! The total amount of coins that will ever be in circulation when all coins are mined (many years from now) is 135 million. There will never be more than that, just like Bitcoin will never have more than 21 million coins.

If you (or anyone else) has any questions, please don't hesitate to let us know. Thank you!

I totally support this coin and like the idea. You must make some way of generating blocks through captchas like faucets that help with transactions. This means no matter what you can always get some coins even if you can't mine. May you can have a daily or weekly twitter reward that stays on and doesn't go away. I hope this can be done.

Thanks so much for the support! Proof-of-Captcha is an interesting concept, but we will be able to keep the faucet funded with block 1 for decades to come - and probably indefinitely with some extra development work. A long-term Twitter reward for regular posting is also a great idea, we'll consider this in the future after this Twitter bounty promotion ends.

Thanks for posting and thanks for the suggestions! Great to have you with us.

Hmm, thanks for letting us know. We just did a getpeerinfo of who's online and it's possible none of the nodes were online when you tried to join in (our node was temporarily shut off due to an update.)

Here's an expanded list with some new nodes online right now:

addnode=49.151.134.119

If you add in those new nodes and your wallet isn't back up to snuff, let us know and we'll try to help you troubleshoot.

If anyone else is having problems with the network - or NOT having problems - please feel free to pop in and let us know, it would be helpful. Thanks!

I have all this nodes added but still no connection to network. Other coin wallets is ok in case you think i have firewall

Hmm, thanks for letting us know. We just did a getpeerinfo of who's online and it's possible none of the nodes were online when you tried to join in (our node was temporarily shut off due to an update.)

Here's an expanded list with some new nodes online right now:

addnode=52.1.59.136
addnode=23.102.154.155
addnode=92.3.44.10
addnode=92.3.35.94
addnode=74.69.190.173
addnode=193.180.174.73
addnode=78.70.227.24
addnode=81.104.96.182
addnode=46.172.1.99
addnode=75.130.163.51
addnode=23.102.154.155
addnode=67.205.142.101
addnode=49.151.134.119

If you add in those new nodes and your wallet isn't back up to snuff, let us know and we'll try to help you troubleshoot.

If anyone else is having problems with the network - or NOT having problems - please feel free to pop in and let us know, it would be helpful. Thanks!

Here is good. 3 active nodes currently on 12933 blocks. Takes 2 seconds transfer from faucet and confirmation takes about 2 minutes (green check). Hope everyone resolves their issues now, I just add those nodes and it works. Hoping for new projects soon.  ;)

Hi James, unfortunately it seems like someone attempted to hack the mineblocks.eu server and as result that pool is temporarily offline.

some bastard has tried to hack my server

pool offline until tomorrow  >:( >:(

We are in the process of getting ourselves on additional pools.  Sadly for the short term we are pool-less but we are actively working to rectify that ASAP!

Do you think you could add another faucet with a shorted cool down ? Maybe pay in beginner coin to post on your forum i really think it is a good idea since anyone with any pc can mine by posting. Think about it. It makes sense. Not everyone can afford to mine so human mining is the next best thing and since this is a learning coin and anyone can post I think it goes well together don't you ? Anyway I really do like what you trying to do here you are a good example for what a dev should do and behave.

Hi, thanks for letting us know! We're aware of the problem, some transactions from the faucet are not currently confirming.

Once we get those transactions to properly confirm, we'll continue adding more to the faucet as we have been.

We're working on this issue right now. Thank you for your patience!

Hey everyone, quick update - confirmations are starting to come through on older faucet transactions, but they're delayed. We have a couple fixes in progress that we'll be putting in place that should help improve this over the next few days. We have confidence that all transactions from the faucet will be confirmed eventually, so we just added more BGNR to the faucet.

Thanks for your continuing patience everyone! Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestions and the support!

Our faucet is still very new, so we will probably not add another faucet yet, as we need to make sure the one we have is properly maintained... but it's very likely that we will be adjusting the payouts and the payout timing in the future to improve distribution. We are also considering bounties to encourage other people to setup their own BGNR faucets, but again, we haven't made a firm decision yet.

We are also considering paying users to post good, helpful content on our forum, but we also don't want to encourage spam posts just to drive up post counts. There is a balance to be had there that we think might be manageable. We have a couple of other more pressing things in development at the moment but this is something that is definitely on our minds.

Anyway, we hope that gives you an indication of where we're at. Thanks again for commenting and for the support.

BGNR is currently traded at NovaExchange (https://novaexchange.com/market/BTC_BGNR/).

We will be looking to expand the exchanges we are listed on in the near future as we develop, keep an eye out!

Offline wallets are available from our website (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=22.0). Online wallets are currently only available through the exchange above.

We want to remind users that we are not affiliated with NovaExchange and everyone must be cautious when using any online wallet (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=6).  Always remember that security starts with you (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=14.0).

Hope that answers your questions, welcome to BeginnerCoin!

Damn the faucet reduced it's payout really quickly. Now it only pays out 10 coins and was at 100 it went down by 10s per day.
Oh well hopefully it will become more rare and thus valueable.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the comments! Just some quick notes and updates today:

- We've adjusted the faucet payout and delay, as mentioned by the last couple of posters. We'll be adjusting this regularly, so don't be too surprised when you see changes. We've been at war with spam bots claiming coins (no big surprise!) so we'll be working to minimize the amount of BGNR in the hands of bot owners while keeping faucet payouts flowing to all legitimate users.

- The confirmation delay and backlog for faucet transactions is gone, payments are caught up and are confirming quickly now.

- We've been working on a major update, which we will hopefully have ready for you this coming week. No promises but we're working hard to get it ready.

- Our Twitter Bounty campaign ends today! If you want your chance to claim 220 BGNR, please be sure to do so ASAP.

Go here before the campaign ends tonight to claim your 220 BGNR bounty:

These guys who cheat, always harm honest people. this has to stop.

I have a problem:

My wallet not this synchronizing says The Following:

"NO SOURCE BLOCK availaable" then says that "5 years and 8 weeks behind"

 I did something wrong?

I just claim the faucet and had not seen it

Wallet is working fine here but I hope that beginner coin team may resolve faucet issue as soon as possible because that the only easy way we can earn free coins. Waiting for more than 100 minutes for 10 coins is not reasonable but of course I understand on my part. I saw some development on the faucet website so far, its good that it tranfer to a page where information about the coin is ellaborated, I appreciate it.  I can see progress here besides huge premine and had no reason to dump at recent exchange. Much more when other version of wallets will be released followed by a roadmap. ;)

Thanks for the comment and support! We agree there needs to be far more ways to earn BGNR, and there will be, very soon.  :)

We definitely have more ways to distribute coins in mind...and some cool ways to spend your BGNR too.

We'll talk about releasing a roadmap, but in reality, the development process is very organic and we don't want to set any false hopes or expectations.

I would like to double that amount of coins. It is you who has the ptc or is that victorious coin ? If not I think you guys should do a ptc anyway. Thanks man ! <3

Yes my second facuet visit went from 100 to 60 odd then jumped way down. Though if you look 100 is lots, 100 is the reward for mining a block.
I hope though that they become more scarce and worth more because of that.

We're grateful to novaexchange for being the first exchange to offer BGNR! But our primary focus right now is on development, not on getting listed in exchanges or BGNR market price.

We have some big announcements coming soon in an update that will hopefully be ready in the next week or two - stay tuned.

Nice to hear from you again dev, still here waiting for your big announcement, hopefully next week right? By the way, faucet still not updated, still giving 10. Im checking from time to time since that is just my source for BGNR, but still very much appreciated, thank you. Goodluck.

No problem. I will support where support is deserved. I have respect for a dev that has enough self respect and belief in his own coin.
I was wondering though. How exactly do you get the coin value up ? How do you stop a coin from dying the slow deaht alot do when the hit near 1 satoshi ?

Coins don't die a slow death because they hit 1 satoshi (or any other perceived low price), they die because the developers stop developing for the ecosystem. That's not going to happen in this case.  :)

We've hit a snag with our project-in-progress and need to do some debugging but we expect to be back on track shortly. Hopefully we'll have something ready to show everyone this coming week.

Cheers! Thanks for checking in with us!

Mining is intermittent right now. A new block was just mined so it should have just caught up for you.

It's one of the issues that will be addressed in the upcoming update. Thanks for your patience!

I couldn't find a block explorer in the OP. Doesn't Beginner Coin have a block explorer yet?

Any coin with a big premine should have a block explorer so people can check it doesn't suddenly move to an exchange. It's more important than the Beginner Coin website already set up.

Thanks for the comment and feedback! No block explorer yet, but it's definitely on the short-term development list.

We do have a bounty available for it for anyone in the community who develops one:

Getting BGNR on exchanges is not our focus right now. We have a lot more development work to do first, as you've said.  ;)

But how do you make a coin worth something ? Being around is one thing but doing what ? What further developements can be made to create more interest in a coin ? I don't know besides the dev leaving how coins get their value.

Many coins offered have some sort technological reason they are valued at, something that furthers the engineering side of the equation.  For our coin we are focused entirely on the social side, getting more people on board and helping people wrap their minds around the technology so they can approach it from an educated standpoint.  It's not something that has an easy numerical value.  We do believe that through continued effort our coin will continue to have value as a result of that effort.  Development is continuing both for new tools and promotions.

We've been discussing this point on and off (which is why it took a bit to get back to you) and we have plenty of ideas. But, we need to proceed carefully because our real focus is on outreach and education and we don't want to mar that with a misguided attempt to drive up the coin's value artificially.  We'd much prefer that process to happen organically so that is how we will proceed for the time being.  This is a work in progress and we will revisit this decision later as we continue to work with the community. We are all in this together and we want to ensure our users are gaining value for what they are doing.

I hope that answers your question, its an important one and I'm really glad you asked.

Hey all, we wanted to do an interim update to let everyone know where we're at currently.  The large update we had planned unfortunately keeps having setbacks, but is still moving forward. Here's a taste of what's to come!

We've received a few questions regarding what our plan was going forward and we have spent a lot of time the last few weeks really figuring out how we want to proceed.  Our goal is get more people using cryptocurrencies and demystify their use for newcomers.  Many people are asking how they can help get the word out about cryptocurrencies and share their passion for this revolutionary technology.

We want to help you make that happen.  The more people who use an understand cryptocoins the more we all benefit.

With that said, we will pressing forward with regular promotion campaigns through social and traditional media.  We will keep our development bounties open (for many we've greatly increased the rewards), however our focus will be on outreach and rewarding our users who help educate and spread the word of cryptocurrencies.  We also want to start some old school advertising methods outside of social media...

We will be posting flyers (https://s3.amazonaws.com/bgnr/img/BGNRFlyer.png) in TO BE ANNOUNCED LOCATIONS!!  We will be making our website more mobile friendly in the near future to coincide with this on the ground campaign, but we wanted to give you a sneak peak as well as get some feedback.

The image above is a rough work in progress, please feel free to add comments and suggestions!  We will also be needing translations!  Check out our bounty board for more info! (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=55.0).

UPDATED BOUNTIES

We have increased the bounty for our blockchain explorer by TEN TIMES (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=35.0) which brings that bounty up to 100,000 BGNR!!

We are bringing back our Twitter bounties (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=56.msg252) and moving them to a more stable, ongoing campaign rather than a single event!  Follow us @BeginnerCoin (https://twitter.com/intent/follow?screen_name=BeginnerCoin) and check out our bounty board to claim!

We have also brought back our Reddit advertisement bounty (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=28.0), which starts tomorrow 10/08/2016.  Reply and upvote to earn your BGNR!

We want to remind users of our Getting Started translation bounty (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=50.0) and also welcome your ideas for new bounties (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=32.0)!  Users with good ideas will be paid in BGNR!  We want to encourage users to help us get the word out and help newer users get started using the technology.  Instruction and information guides as well their translations can be used to help new users and we want to encourage YOU to get started!

As most have already pointed out, we have lowered our faucet payouts while we shift focus from testing. The faucet will remain open indefinitely, but we will be more heavily focusing on payouts to users who participate in promotion campaigns and heavily rewarding the content creators out there who participate by writing guides or translating existing ones on our forum.  Faucets are an excellent tool, but we must focus on community development to achieve our goals.

To all our users and miners we cannot thank you enough for your support.  We are excited to be a part of this community and are committed to continue the education and outreach of cryptocurrencies for everyone!  Get active! Tell your friends, tell your relatives, write guides, help each other out, BeginnerCoin.com (http://www.beginnercoin.com) is here to help YOU spread the word on what crytpocurrencies are capable of achieving.

Only together can we break the current mainstream mindset regarding cryptocoins.

Stay tuned!

BeginnerCoin Dev Team

We're looking at all the different exchanges right now to see which ones to approach.  We haven't decided yes or no on any of them yet. Ideally we'd like to get a blockchain explorer up and running prior to approaching them, but we'll see how it all shakes out.

Do not, under any circumstances, list this coin on Yobit. It is the worst, scammiest & most useless exchange with absolutely no support whatsoever.

Be warned. Stay away from Yobit.

I think it's fine, as long as we have a exchange to trade on.I just hope the price picks up. I don't quiet understand how the OP makes money with this though.They will have to have some and then some how increase the value ? That doesn't sound easy at all.

Thanks for the comment Jason! We have a fairly big project that we're working on polishing up (yes, still - bugs galore) and then we intend to do a much stronger push with bounty campaigns. We need a little more infrastructure in place before we feel comfortable doing that.  For the meantime however, while not a signature campaign exactly, we do have a signature bounty thread (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=34.0) up for all bitcointalk user levels!

We know it's been a little slow but we're still here and working behind the scenes. We hope to be scaling up soon.

Thanks so much to all those who are still supporting us!

Hey everyone, we're still working behind the scenes.  We really wanted the next update to be a surprise and unfortunately that's working against us at the moment.  We're still moving along, but unfortunately progress has been slow.  This is a project of passion, but passion doesn't pay the bills just yet :).

However, we do believe the community does deserve to be kept informed and frankly we've taken too long to try and make it a surprise.  We're currently working on a merge mined pool and have unfortunately had multiple set backs.  We chose p2pool as a backend to support community pools, however, we are having a difficult time getting the merge mining aspect working in the way that we want.

Blockexplorer for Beginnercoin  not available?

Currently we do not have a blockexplorer, if you are or know someone willing to implement that we have a bounty for an explorer. (http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=35.0)

Thanks again to everyone for all your support, we are sorry that we couldn't keep pace with our updates.  However, we are still working behind the scenes and are as committed as day 1 to our goals of outreach and education of cryptocurrency.  There is nothing to be intimidated or mystified by, we are here to lower that educational barrier to entry and hasten the revolution.

Cheers,
BGNR Dev Team

What is actually going on with this coin ? I hear nothing and I still am holding my coins. The coin dropped a lot in value.
It dropped from 50 to just a few stashi then around 10 now it is at 16. Now very good it should be in the 100s at least.
The faucet hardly pays out anything now either.

Well I like this coon and I'm still holding all my original coins from the rewards and faucet. I dont visit the faucet any ore since it is giving out so little its not worth it. Better use any other faucet and buy the coins I will get much more. That signature bounty I can't do I'm already with betcoin.ag it is only 100 coins anyway I rather buy that many instead. Will keep up to date here. Thanks.

Yes it is but it sucks right now it is only worth 3 satoshi. Stupid people dump at crap prices and destroy coins with their tiny little minds.
Seems to be happening a lot these days.

it's what you expect in pump and dump shitcoins. there's so many out there. look at yobit - its full of 1 satoshi shitcoins and always have something pumping and dumping.
