Title: People with disabilities Project
Post by: hope4people on September 08, 2016, 03:56:07 PM
Hello everyone

I am trying to use bitcoin as a system to request donations for a small project which I am building at the moment.
The project consists of helping people with disabilities to gain a better life, by providing them with a purpose in life, and help them enjoy the little things again (giving them a job, funding trips, provide them with clothes, places to live and more)

I understand the concept of bitcoin and how it gains value, but I am not sure how to attract BTC owners to donate (even small amounts) or how to gain them, so we can go further.

At the moment, I and my partner are struggling to build up an NGO ( which is a cost of approximately 600 usd in Romania). Without this engine, we are not able to ask for donations, as it is illegal to receive money without having a an NGO.

This being said, below are a few questions:

1. Is bitcoin safe / legal to receive the money until we raise enough to create the NGO?
2. What is the best way of getting BTC (we are gaining satoshi for solving captcha queries for the past 2 months, but it is very slow)

Can anyone assist us?
Also, feel free to donate any small amount to the following address if you wish to help us: 16TKpwgg4m3DsWo51dErLCDR7YwzgwQEeo

Thanks in advance for any answer or help.

A brand new account. First post asks for donations to a "worthy cause". Gives 0 detail about himself or how the donations are used ::)

You'll have to try harder than that.

As you mentioned, step one is to secure the legal entity required to collect donations. It could be a non-governmental organization or a not for profit. Until that is in place you really just have an idea. Once you are set up you may find it easier to join a collecting organization like the United Way. They do the advertising and take on the risks for a portion of the donations. And, like any good business, they take bitcoin. Find out more in the link below.

Give a face to the project and proper validation from a legitimate organization that the funds will go to the cause it was supposed to go to, and you would gain more momentum. There has been many scams involving fund raising for good causes, and in the end the money goes to the pockets of the scammers.

You should not hide your identity, if you are a legitimate organization trying to collect money for a good cause. Good luck with your project. ^smile^

I think even if you are not an NGO you can do the charity as i dont think that it is illegal in any country, before applying for NGO you have to form a charity name and then run a office with proper detail about your projects and do accounting of all incoming and outgoing of funds.

After you have collected all detail , you can go online and create a website with full details about you and your project , after that if you come here with full details, you will surely get help from this community.

The issue with this is the bitcoin community stopped giving away btc in any decent amount years ago.
That and your a new user with no verification of trust so people will only pass on this and see you as a scammer.

Thank you all for your advice and help.

I will be starting to build the website as of this week, should be ready in 10 - 15 days.
As per the legal matters, Romania does not allow cashing any money until the tax authority can verify it (NGO).

I started posting after an exchange of email with Roger Ver (for those who do not know, google), when he advised to check with communities such as yours.
I do not want to be seen as a scammer, therefore, below my contact details:

Cristian Pricop
Phone: +40 745 840 513
Email: cristian@its-shop.ro
Bucharest, Romania.

If anyone is interested in joining our start or more details to see we are real, we'll be more than happy to talk to you.

Have a great week.
