Title: How hard would it be to have a ticker built in the forum somewhere?
Post by: Wilikon on March 30, 2013, 07:59:26 AM
This forum is like a drug. Why waste the life of a perfectly innocent new tab to keep an eye on the price on bitcoin when I could help save the polar bears and going green by using one tab instead of 2 for all the bitcoin infos.

Thank you.

I have a second monitor with the ticker on full screen at all times..one more wouldn't hurt!

I care about bitcoin, the polar bears, and... The children! :)

I was wondering if the "simple machines forum" platform would allow to use some plugin to have it implemented.

from what exchange?

I want to keep this forum and exchanges separated.

SMF is so 1990.  Anything added onto it would be piecemeal.  Does it have an API?

A better drug solution would be to create a separate website that has all the crack services in one place: bitcoinity chart feed, a forum feed, freenode channel, google alerts feed, reddit feed, a panic buy/sell button linked to your gox account... :P

Well... All of them. Something like a scrolling about BTC exchanges, bitcoin newsflash, etc. This would not be for the hardcore traders but a simple text line scrolling on the bottom of the forum that ppl could click on to learn more about whatever while they read and reply in the forum. RSS feed I guess. I was wondering if that was technically possible using the SMF platform.

http://bitcoin.clarkmoody.com/

the tab shows the price and updates when the price changes.. One click to the details.
The ticker is a nice idea though

*hits head against wall* AAARGH! SMF, IMPLEMENT AN API! If SMF had a nice API, this forum would be a lot nicer. :\

I would love to see this happen. It's funny because I was looking for a similar feature on these forums just before. Assumed they would have had one :P
