Title: Using PCI-e 2x slot on my 2 pci-e 16x board Post by: horrorshow on June 13, 2011, 04:13:00 AM I've heard it's possible to fill this slot. Wouldn't the 2x channels be filled and reduce mining performance?
Say I bought a pci-e extender and cut it to fit in a pci-e 2x slot. Would I really have no problem running 3 cards? What if there was a 6990 in the pci-e 2x slot? Is anyone else using this method? Thanks! Title: Re: Using PCI-e 2x slot on my 2 pci-e 16x board Post by: swusc2 on June 13, 2011, 04:19:36 AM Mining requires very little bandwidth. PCIe x1 is even more than sufficient. And you can just use PCIe x1 extenders for x2 x4 x16 slots.

With the appropriate cables you should be fine. Title: Re: Using PCI-e 2x slot on my 2 pci-e 16x board Post by: horrorshow on June 13, 2011, 05:36:30 AM Thanks guys! This will save me a lot of money when I expand :)
