Title: What altcoin exchanges offer margin trading, shorting and lending?
Post by: bbc.reporter on September 15, 2016, 05:13:34 AM
I am aware that only Poloniex has margin trading and short selling. Are there other exchanges where they are allowed? Some people in this forum say that Bittrex allows it also but I cannot find them in their exchange.

Please list the exchanges that allow them. Thank you.

Bittrex has announced it, but not active yet.

So far only Poloniex does it.

Ok. When was the annoucement made and how long has it been since? I hope it was not too long ago that they might have forgotten about it or dumped the idea. That would be not good because we need more exchanges that offers a wider range of services.

I now see why Poloniex is a preferred choice, maybe Bifinex can learn from that in order to bounce back on its feet.

So far I only now poloniex but i guess there are others too. Remember that shorting assets can be very risky and you may end up losing a lot of you coins. So trade careful.
If you are serious about it consider only reputable exchanges.

I think that it is possible that it could collapse with less and less people trusting the stockmarket. It is really not that great of an investment in my opinion...

At CEX.IO, we offer BTC and ETH margin trading. (https://cex.io/margin-trading)
You can trade BTC/USD, BTC/EUR and ETH/BTC with 1:2 and 1:3 leverage.
It is easy even for beginners and has the following advantages:

Automatic funds borrowing
Borrowing funds is done automatically and simultaneously with position placement.

No extra accounts
There is no need to open any extra margin accounts to trade with leverage.

Negative balance protection
Risk-preventing system guarantees that margin trading cannot move your balance to negative values.

Guaranteed stop loss
The system reserves part of the order book for position to be closed at the price, not worse than stop loss.

Efficient rollover fee
Rollover fee is charged only while position is opened and is not charged for the first 4 hours.

Will be glad to see you among users of CEX.IO. (https://cex.io/trade)

allowing shorting is a good thing actually, it maintains better price stability and liquidity. Margin.. not  so much.
