Wow. Is it that "painful" to wait for a confirmation? :D I just get on with my life and forget about it...

I mostly read bitcoin news, listen to the music and read forum in the meantime. I don't post much as I mostly lurk around.
If transaction is stubborn I watch movies or play some games.

I'm building a scale model of Venice from my snot. I only do this when waiting for confirmations so my descendants will have to continue it after I'm gone.

Sometimes you need to perform another action once it is confirmed, so you are sort of tied to your PC.

It's is more frustrating that it need be considering I am at a PC most of the time anyway :D

While I'm waiting for incoming transactions confirmation, I usually work on earning more in the meantime. While I'm waiting for the confirmation of outgoing transactions, I'm discussing with the client and helping him have a good time with me until we can proceed with the deal.

Fooling around with my cats.  It's funny, because I'm waiting for a confirmation at this very second.  Need to convert bitcoin to fiat so I'm waiting and waiting.   And posting on this forum, which is always a delight.

I also have no problems with confirmation time.
Transaction done, close the client and forget till whatever.
Just use decent fee when sending, don't be a cheap snake and all the aggravation will be thing of the past. In case of receiving, as well I quickly check for 1 confirmation and than I close the block explorer, call me naive or stupid but I have had zero problems to date.
Fee, fee and fee is the key ;)

What if you send some BTC to, say, a trading website and you are waiting for them to confirm? You seem to miss the point.

Even with a good fee it still takes an amount of time.

I don't wait much, I have instructed electrum to always put the recommended fee by putting dynamic fees in it and the maximum I wait usually is 10-15 minutes.

During this time I can post on the forum or watch daily news , videos, trend, life etc.

If you're legendary on here as I AM NOW, all you have to do is call up the Core team and you don't even have to wait for another block. And they also double the Bitcoin you're sending as a courtesy.

totally agree lol - I don't even leave the wallet open I just start working again
then check back later. Plus I have never really had to wait long as long as I've
used the recommended amount of fee for sending.

You are right, didn't thought about this scenario, I'm long gone from trading, never had the nerve for it but back in the day I was always transferring my coins overnight...
so the answer to "what are you doing" is sleeping :) But it is exactly as I sad before, TX and forget till morning or whatever.

Since I am familiar with several altcoins, the bitcoin confirmation time makes me frustrated. I keep checking every 2-3 minutes to see if i've received m bitcoin or not.
A lot of my transactions are currency conversions so I' always in a rush to use the bitcoin as quickly as possible.

hi

what are you doing while your are waiting for a confirmation of a transaction.

i am reading here and posting some stuff.

how funny, exactly the same over here. made some cleaning up on some small wallets (imported the keys on electrum) and now i am waiting for almost 2 hours without a confirmation.
the fee was high (50 cents), but one output is very small (600 sat.) which seems to be the problem. this never happened before so this is new to me.

I just transfer the funds and keep it in mind that it will be processed within a few minutes so I do not bring out time for the wait but I continue to complete my other works and tasks and a after a few minutes i often come and check that where it reached.

I also come to this forum and continue my participation in the bitcoin community and in that time the confirmation has taken place and I see the bitcoin transferred to the target address, the time of confirmation is not much longer it is only smaller time so I do not bother with that.

waiting for bitcoin transaction confirmation is really a big problem. some time it make you confused, because it take so much time that make you worry that if you have may not sent the bitcoin to some where else. there the bitcoin transaction conformation process should be make fast and without any delay.

This is not a big problem for me,I usually don't wait for the confirmation of a transaction, most of the times I close my wallet or even turn off my PC if I don't have something else to do.If the transaction is important then I'm killing some time watching videos, reading articles or browsing bitcointalk and check every five minutes until it's done.

Usually i go play some games, but i dont check the transaction every 10 minutes, as i know it takes a while i do play several games or watch tv, if i need those money i will wait otherwise i send and next day i log just to check those.

I entertain myself while watching some series or YouTube videos. Every 5-10 minutes I check whether or not my transaction has a confirmation already. That being said, I only check once every few minutes for confirmations when it's an important transaction. When it's not important, I'll either look back after a few hours, or some times even the next day. I know it will get confirmed since I always add appropriate fees.

A majority of the time I am going and doing something else, like reading things or looking at some information related to whatever I am waiting for.

Worst case I just walk away and do something else while I wait for the confirmation to go through, but a majority of the time I'm aiming to do at least something with my time.

when the first time i sent payment, i keep on checking every 5 minutes, but now i just let it be, because sometimes the transaction can take up to 3 hours, so if i keep on checking, it will waste my time, and so far every transaction i sent dont have any problem, so every time i send i just pray nothing bad will happen

Nothing, just continue what I have doing before doing transactions and before that waiting for confirmations appeared.  I do not know why have you posted this but it seems that you have  a problem with it.  Maybe it takes too long for your transaction to confirm.  Is there a problem with your internet connection cause it seems like its bothering you.  Try to switch or find a better internet provider. ;D  Or you could make more bitcoin by not making too much attention with the "waiting for confirmation" thing.

Some wallet app has no option for increasing transaction  fee. Just like what we used here in asian country.

For me i'm just reading and browsing on 9gag website and it is very effective on killing time of waiting. Sometimes i already forgot that i have deposit some bitcoin because of enjoyment on reading funny facts! :D

If it didn't take longer than 10 minutes and the transaction doesn't matter much to me like transferring my bitcoin from wallet to another, I just browse around the net, but if it is important like cashing out, I wait for it and watch the number of confirmations while playing my favorite musical instrument... But sometimes I just don't mind it if I am busy...  :)

Not when you're in a time-sensitive situation where you got someone waiting on an important payment from you. If I'm not in a hurry then it's not a big concern but I still try to wait for it to fully confirm. If I'm at home, usually I'd just go play a few games of blitz chess while I wait and check back after half an hour or so.

what are you doing while your are waiting for a confirmation of a transaction.

i am reading here and posting some stuff.

I refresh the blockchain page to see if there is a new block mined and if my transaction was included on that block.

Sometimes i read the news about crypto, IT or even local newspapers, but since the transaction fees are good I wouldn't worry too much.

Reversal is impossible, but denied can happen. I seriously doubt that any zero fee (i.e. free) transactions get confirmed at all these days, and I know from experience that using the relay minimum (1000 satoshis) can take days. I guess 1000 satoshis is kind of like the new zero fees tx's.

You can read this interesting  blog / site too   http://criptomoedasfacil.com/ while you waiting for confirmations.

I am mostly online when waiting on a confirmation.  Typically when I send or receive BTC it is "important", so usually I do not leave to go on errands or similar.  If I am using bitmixer.io, that takes more time (call it 30 minutes for everything to clear), then perhaps I will leave to go do something "productive".

Often I check the financial markets or financial websites (Zero Hedge, etc.) while waiting.  Or even post here at bitcointalk...

I do the same or just surfing on some internet sites with selling staff, such as eBay or Aliexpress, looking for things that I will buy with those money that I should to get.

Whenever there's a delay in confirmations even if I did pay the right amount of fee, I'd suspect an attack on the network and usually head towards /r/bitcoin on reddit to seek information on whether others are facing similar issues. If it's just me, I'd usually wait for the transaction to confirm and carry on with my usual work browsing videos or watching documentaries online or a couple of TV shows.

I just go do something else for a while and check back every now and then. I remember way back to my first few transactions though, I used to just stare at the confirmation page on the edge of my seat, refreshing and then wooting when the first confirmation finally happened. lol.

This is the most logic thing to do honestly. What else then find something else to do and check back in 1 hour. Sometimes I write it down (if it's a big amount) because yes there is no saying how long you will have to wait exactly. It's all a matter of time. So next time when you are waiting, try to find another job.

In the mean time you open a blockchain.info window with a autorefresh plugin. So you can check it while doing other tasks.

hi

what are you doing while your are waiting for a confirmation of a transaction.

i am reading here and posting some stuff.
It isn't very long time, I noticed that exchanges and Casinos transactions are very fast, and most of my transactions are from exchanges or casions to my wallet, thus I don't wait a lot, in this time I often read some news on twitter or on Bitcoin news sites, or I make some tweets.

There is a bunch of things to do, depends in what kind of mood I`m. Generally same like most people here, I`m reading news here, or on some social network, commenting, watching youtube, playing some free roll poker tournament.
I don`t think it`s horrible to wait transaction to confirm, I have patience. Usually when I`m sending bitcoin from wallet to casino, or otherwise it`s pretty fast. In some casino deposit is almost instant, and withdraw is going pretty fast also on some places.

I do nothing special when waiting for a confirmation, i just continue my work online and sometimes i disconnect and go offline and when i return back i find the transaction already confirmed.

While I'm waiting for confirmation I do usual daily things: reading news, browsing facebook, watching youtube videos and sports broadcasts. I don't really care about confirmation, because when I see pending transaction, I'm sure that I will receive money soon.

Hmm. Been a years or more since I started using Bitcoin and sending Bitcoin is part of my daily life (not really, maybe weekly?). I don't really mind the waiting times for normal transactions time and I usally do things that I normally do while waiting for my transactions to be accepted into the Bitcoin Blockchain system. These includes but not limited to, gaming, reading, posting and watching videos.

I usually make a transaction and that is it.
I don't wait for it to be confirmed. When the recipient does not get my coins he always has a way to contact me.
But since that never happened I suppose it all came through in time.
My transactions are never that urgent that I would need them be done in a couple of minutes.

For me, most of the confirmation times are unusually long- maybe I was just unlucky. I would just impatiently checking the blockchain.info website to see when the next block has been mined.

IF  im in a  hurry i always  look to the confirmation when im transferring bitcoin and sometimes   transfers are too long and sometimes   less than 2 minutes i guess it really depends  but  when im not in a hurry  i dont have to check it  if  its confirmed or  not as  long as  i saw the   progress i just  leave it  and do the usual stuffs.

Because certain transactions have a high priority because people have made a deal and wait for it to get completed. If there is no priority, then there is basically no need to keep staring at the transaction till it gets its first confirmation, then you're right.

It is up to receiver of your bitcoin. Accepting a payment without confirmations is highly risky at it might get double spent. So, every merchants must wait till at least 3 three confirmations. Some companies, like Xapo are following 6 confirmations conventions. Confirmations will ensure your bitcoins not get reveresed by any chances.

This isn't a big deal for me, at least. As long as I saw the progress everything will be fine.

But it depends on the situation, if ever I need an urgent respond for those I like to deal quickly, Im just keep coming back to the respective page every 5 or 10 mins. Browsing other tabs is my common doings.

what are you doing while your are waiting for a confirmation of a transaction.

i am reading here and posting some stuff.

I refresh the blockchain page to see if there is a new block mined and if my transaction was included on that block.

Sometimes i read the news about crypto, IT or even local newspapers, but since the transaction fees are good I wouldn't worry too much.
I also do things like you actually I really do not like to wait, but that I do not feel upset for a confirmation of a long normally I would forget about transactions that moment and do other activities such as reading news, watching youtube or the like, yeah maybe several times to refresh the transaction to see delivery status

Lol I thought you would not be able to use bitcoinmu when the confirmation has not been resolved because the current transaction confirmation could have been resolved had failed and bitcoin returned to sender. so before you accept the first confirmation you will not be able to use bitcoin it?

nope i think in all stores, perjudia sites, or other facilities would always wait for confirmation, at least 1-3 confirmation so you can continue the next process, or in gambling usually balance will not go or can not be withdrawn before the transaction was getting one confirmation

Anyway I can't do anything that can make transaction faster. can better internet connectivity make transaction faster? I think best thing to do instead of sitting or watching on youtube is researching some informations you to learn on bitcoins like reading the comments on this forum .or if your a trader much better research for good altcoins. Sitting around is too boring when yo uare waiting the confirmation this is true when you are fee the payment fee when you are mading some transaction or sending bitcoin to others sometimes it always take 30 minutes before it confirm.
Yeah ,sitting is boring what do you think when being sitted?
I think best thing to do instead of sitting or watching on youtube is researching some informations you to learn on bitcoins like reading the comments on this forum .or if your a trader much better research for good altcoins. A gambler searching for good gambking house and techniques it will be worth the time you spend than anything else.

watching youtube channel is great idea and we can drink coffee with snack hmm i think it would be a good too and this is what i am doing while waiting for a confirmation. but the last night, i am sleeping when i am waiting for a confirmation  ;D

Not all the movies are long, there are short ones. Also, he talked about wet and refresh, I think he means porn, and people usually skip most of the useless scenes when watching porn.

Currently at least Blockchain confirmations are ~ 20 minutes only, and not up to 24 hours. So it is much more easy and faster to make BTC transfers through Blockchain. So in this time you can read threads at Bitcointalk forum  ;)

While waiting for the confirmation of Bitcoin transaction, I read topics in threads, comment on them if I have something to say.  And when am done with the reading and comment stuff, and the transaction is not yet confirmed, I then browse the net looking for some interesting stuff like news and games to download.

Not sure why a lot of people are having problems with the confirmation of their deposit/withdrawals. In sending Bitcoins, I don't have any problem with the confirmation. The reason for this is I'm using coins.ph and even if there's no transaction fee, the block gets mined so easily. I also have a blockchain wallet and there's a transaction fee. It's not that much of money but it really makes your confirmation almost instant.

In receiving Bitcoins, I just wait until it says "Receving" on my account and then I will log off. I don't have to withdraw those Bitcoins right away, anyway and I'm pretty sure that they will go to my account eventually. No need to keep an eye on it.

lol... Nothing like a porn between a transaction and other... Hope you don't work on a exchange lol

You also can watch some big bang theory, 20 min max...

Go read some book ladies and gentlemen. Education is the best step for a greater future.

I still do some things to make a living or just continue what I have left out doing.  But whenever I make some transaction like sending or paying bitcoins it do not take too long.  So if ever it would be long I did not mind it because I am doing some things instead of waiting for the confirmation.

If i'm waiting for a confirmation, sure it'll be deal to buy/sell bitcoin for INR. So, sure i'll talk to my trader about the rate, fee and discounts  ;D
I think when you're doing a transaction with someone like buying bitcoin on them and you need them urgent. You can discuss the shipping fee bitcoin, cause them to increase the fee I'm sure confirmation will not be more than 10 minutes

Yes sometimes I do that too. If I am waiting for confirmation of payment, I waited with refer to YouTube or some articles are for. Sometimes I also check whether the transaction has been successful or not.

hi

what are you doing while your are waiting for a confirmation of a transaction.

i am reading here and posting some stuff.

It's natural to refresh the transaction screen many times to check if the transaction was included in the recent mined block.

Bitcoin is made in this way that there is some delay between unconfirmed and confirmed transaction, sometimes it takes longer sometimes it get confirmed within few minutes.

I prefer to continue the work that I was doing before making that transaction like continue reading the e-book or something similar and not worry too much about the transaction.

such a wasting of time .i don't think people nowadays are very addicted to social networking sites some of them.are just wasting time on it.

I can relate to what you are doing while waiting for the confirmation. I am playing through my smartphone and my favorite game now is Zelda the Minish Cap even though this is already an old game with game boy. I am using gameboy emulator. Because every time I am checking my transaction to get confirmed it is making me annoyed so I need to have stress reliever.

When the sender sends me the transaction link, I don't wait anymore because I know that it is not reversible. I don't have to wait for it because I'm not going to use it right away anyway. When sending Bitcoins, I've never had any problems with the confirmation because it will only take like 15 minutes up to 30 minutes maximum. If I know that I input the correct fees on a certain transaction and made sure that the destination address is correct, I just leave it as it is and check back in an hour or so. I don't stress too much on waiting for it, sometimes I just take a nap or play some games of dota and look back to see whether the tx is already confirmed in the network.

Lol same stuff i did when I'm waiting for my transaction confirmation.  I don't know maybe it is already my habbit.  Another thing is that, I try to entertain myself so I forgot about the frustration of waiting by watching youtube ( funny stuff) and other movies online.  Once the confirmation is at 2, i try to hit refresh (F5) again until it hit 3 confirmation and be credited to my online wallet.

If i was gambling i immediately start gambling because few sites like satoshimines require 0 confirmation to show your bitcoin in balance while if i was depositing or transferring bitcoin for other purposes i keep one tab with blockchain.info so that i can see if any new block get fined or not. Till new block shown in that tab i play mobile games usually.

Correct! Though I have lost some bitcoin when I attempted to make payment few year back when was very new to bitcoin, I have not been having any issues since then because the maximum time it take for any transaction I take is normally 15 minutes and no more than whatsoever. We always need to emphasize the sender to include enough fees for the sake of getting quick confirmations.

That's funny, if you put a high fee, it will be fast, you don't need to keep refreshing, just come back 10 min later and if you use a lower fee, just do others stuffs...

For me, refreshing like this sounds crazy. lol

Well with me, I haven't experienced with the transaction to have a very long confirmation because usually the time is able to reach 5-10 minutes. And while I am waiting for the transaction to be confirmed, I am just waiting for it and watching some videos. Since I am a Dota addict, I am watching some highlights for 5-10 minutes.

But on one of the post I saw that one transaction was cancelled and the reason was that the sender did not paid sufficient fees for the transaction so you have to wait at least for the first confirmation after that you can stay satisfied as after one confirmation no one can reverse the transaction.

Why do your need to wait for a comfirmation? The money isnt going anywhere. It's not like a bank that you have to phone them to cancel the transaction.

A bitcoin transaction is not final until it has 1-3 confirmations, so just do the transaction and go do your thing, the money isnt going anywhere.

Do not think to much just simple, we do not have to be stay in front of our computers. We can do something else like washing, watching tv, and something else. We can not do anything to make the transaction faster.

I don't know what you'd be doing beyond browsing other things online or doing something else to make your time productive. There isn't a reason to do nothing while you wait for a transaction to go through.

I personally either read the news or work on something else.

You enjoyed while waiting its good but then why don't doing some other things that help you than listening to a music ,im just suggesting .hehe. we don't know why it takes a lot of time of confirmations maybe in some reason it is really designed for it not to fast .Some good news is other business fund blockchain technology and researching for the improvements of blockchain hoping that may succeed on this so we can transfer or send faster transactions.

I don't usually wait for the confirmation. What I do first when I am receiving money is checking the link of the blockchain if the wallet address is the right address that is sending Bitcoin to me. It is also similar when I am sending money to provide proof that I have sent the Bitcoin that is needed to the said address. Well I am doing that to provide transparency to both sides in case of a confusion happen.
