Title: [ANN] Cryptocoin Liability Analyzer
Post by: naypalm on October 04, 2016, 02:06:15 AM
With all of the minted coins that have been floating around the Bitcoin and Altcoin communities. I have always wanted a way to check if all of a manufacturer's coins are still indeed intact. I have already done this with many coins already (http://www.uberbills.com) but some I haven't due to a lack of a full public list. I am proposing the creation of a website that takes in the public addresses and displays the amount of BTC impact that it has. This puts a new layer of transparency over the physical crypto currency market.

How do we really know that a manufacturer's coins are indeed intact? Of course you could check your public address, but what about the thousands of others? This tool will help ease the public's mind. Mass theft can be silent and behind the scenes if hackers got a hold of a manufacturers private address keys, Or worse yet, the manufacturer is the culprit themselves.

I am planning on making a dashboard website of all the current coins on my main website. The backend is already written, I just need the input. Incomplete or missing public address lists will mark a manufacturer as as being a liability as not all pubic keys are publicly available. To avoid getting marked as a liability manufacturer, please post below or PM a link to an updated list (txt, csv,or json) of all public coins.

Please note: this project may change direction so expect this description to change as it progresses.

What does everyone think? What features should I include? How can you help?

Public addresses

NastyFans (https://nastyfans.org/mint.json) Full list
Casascius (https://www.casascius.com/fulllist.txt) Full list
BitPieces (http://pastebin.com/QuGhHZNY) Full list
Microsoul (Had a nice Register (https://web.archive.org/web/20150514133339/https://buyphysicalbitcoins.com/), but now it is 403)
Lealana (http://lealana.com/fulllistltc.txt) Partial list
CryptoImperator (missing csv (http://cryptoimperator.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/CI-Doge.csv), website change??)

PM me or message below with a public link to a public link to a manufacturers website.

I would love to see an outstanding liability list for the various coin makers out there.  I am 100% behind this project and I believe it is a step in the right direction towards bringing some badly needed transparency to the physical coin market.  Please pressure your favorite coin makers to participate.

100% agreed , gets my vote

As a retailer of Coins I would love to be able to refer customers to a site that can display this data.
Customers can then make informed choices with their Trust and their BTC.

The more transparency the better. Actually it is quite sad that we have to create services like this just to test if coins are in pristine state.

I have a question about problem I see - what if some manufacturers won't allow you to audit them? You would mark then as liability manufacturer, sure.
But then manufacturer could say that your service is totally irrelevant, unknown vigilante project created to boost trust of their competitors or something.

Do you expect this will happen (or happened before)?

I like this idea. I've already talked about something similar within the coin collectors chat room. This will help with risk analysis, as I'm generally anti-funded coins since they are counter-intuitive to Bitcoin as they include trust. Generally I concur with:

The more transparency the better.
That said, any ETA on front-end/general project?

Anduck made this for BTCC coins: https://anduck.net/bitcoin/btcc_coins.html. I think he still needs to update it with the 0.5 BTC coins that came out recently.

The problem with that is the list isn't official, it is only for 1 maker, and it doesn't show the outstanding total liability.

I support this project!

I have PM'd you about the addresses for the BitPieces I made. I hope to see all coin makers join in as well. :)

As soon as con season is over, I should be able to get some scans running with my already existing backend system that I use for my other analyzers. So after I recover from this weekend :)

Totally in favour. What function I'd like? To be able to track all my coins addresses in one page.
So kind of an account where I can add any coin address I want.

I'm sure there are address monitoring tools but one dedicated to Physical BTC would be nice to have.

So kind of like a personal uberbills with real-time monitoring ... ???

He has already built this feature into the NastyFans analyzer.  I imagine it could include data for other coin makers as well.  A donation (https://casascius.uberbills.com/donate.php) could help motivate him.

Wow, I'm still catching up. Ended up winning a ton of ฿aht at a conference in the midwest last week/end. I'm hoping to get some landscaping done this weekend then I can start working on importing the new lists on the OP. Thank you everyone for the interest! :)
