i am currently in china and GTA 5 is banned here. i have heard you can play it with a VPN but im not sure which VPN i should use. are the free VPNs useful?

Don't go for free stuff! Specially VPN cause you don't know if they ain't taking money for it then what are they taking to survive in the market! There are some decent ones like ExpressVPN and PureVPN. They work good in China and have decent services!

Free VPNs usually don't offer the speed and data limit that the premium ones offer. Have you tried torrenting a premium VPN service software yet?

beside zenmate, you can visit cyberghost for another option, but i don't know if cyberghost is available for browser or not but cyberghost have many country and many ip that you can use while you are using free user.

Recently found something that I have been fearing when using most of the vpn's that have been offered from other members here. The places where you visit know that you are going thru a vpn and most likely will block you anyways. Like what google tech uses to know you are using a virtual phone number and not a real phone number even before you receive a call from them. Every tried to register for a hotmail account or gmail account with one of those? Then you know what I am talking about. :-X

Me too, they don't keep logs (as proven by multiple failed subpoenas by the FBI), they have countless servers in many countries (useful for circumventing regional blocks), and best of all, you can pay with Bitcoin!

China will try and block your usage of VPN's, as such most of the known VPN will not work - in any case you should always be very suspicious of free vpn services. If you desperately need on and you have the skills, you could setup Tunnelblick on an AWS server and that should work. But be aware that you might be on the wrong side of the law.

Hi you can install openvpn and try vpngate. You can pick the server you like, just download the .ovpn config on the website, there is a lot to choose from. It's a free VPN though.

If you are in China, no bother about VPN
It's already be blocked(PPTP, L2TP).

Only SSR(I cannot find any free service) or use an outbound TeamViewer works.
