okay is good enough, not PREMINE and small reward in mining so that no dump on this coin prices, at least it took the development in the future

From what I get, the dev means bounty for compiling a faucet system, not bounty for playing it.

As wgd already mentioned, big part of already mined coins are lost/forgotten/deleted due to the fact that people thought that this coin is dead.

You can still mine this coin directly form the wallet or using a miner.

We will be doing the translations but not right now. I will contact you guys for translation.

If there is enough interest, we can open a pool.

As holydarkness already said, we are offering bounties for compiling faucet and games.

Also, new ideas and suggestions are always welcome. :)

What happened originally that caused this coin to become delisted or was thought to be dead?  Why the revival?  Thanks

Lack of community interest and devs abandonment is the cause of it. Revival is important most especially if you're holding a huge bag of Q2C.

Original developer suddenly disappeared/abandoned the coin. From that moment, everything started going downhill.

Why the revival? Why not? :) Coin is working fine. It is simple, user friendly. We found people who are willing to work on this coin.
There are lots of coins on the market and they are mostly produced for a pump and dump scheme. Qubitcoin survived for more than 2 years (most of that time without a proper developer team). We have some ideas for QubitCoin which will hopefully make it more popular for users.
Yes, there are probably few people that are still holding bigger amounts of Q2C but, as I already said, most of the coins are forever lost. You might see addresses with large amount of coins on the rich list but that doesn't mean that those wallets haven't been deleted or forgotten somewhere.

QubitCoin should appear on one of the exchanges during next week or so, hopefully :)

To start mining from the wallet, open the console and type in setgenerate true 1 where 1 represents number of CPU cores to be used for mining. If you leave out this number, mining will fully load CPU.

thanks for the reply.  So the richlist is possibly inaccurate?  I'm looking forward to supporting new ideas and fresh dev for qubitcoin.

After richlist can be determined with high addresses are mines closed long ago. q2c also had a lot of exchanges, they also were gone along with the coins.

Q2c such Coin Supply as QuarkCoin (QRK)

Interesting to estimate what % of the original remain recoverable. Sounds like only a small proportion.

Also, looking at the richlist, this seems to be a surprisingly well distributed coin, with only 33% in the top 25 addresses. Many small (and not so small) coins have up to 50 % in the top 10, often with 90% in the top 100.

New wallet 11.2.1 ccminer fails on json_rpc_call.
To many problems again.
Two blockchains working in parallel the old wallets on block 2008003 at this moment and the new wallet on block 2008990.
Νever liked unnecessary upgrade.

I am not a developer but as far as I know this wasn't the case. We were using both versions past few weeks and it was working OK. I am trying to contact willowrose (developer).

Until we resolve all this I think all of us should use only new version.

If the block difference is only 3000 or 4000 (between two blockchains) and someone lost coins from that period, I will reimburse all (I just need some proof). Hope this is OK.

The different block chains is due to the new 0.11 clients starting to enforce the soft-forks from Bitcoin (BIP34, BIP65, etc).

These are enforced if a certain number of blocks are mined on the new wallet.

Since the majority seems to be on the new wallet, I suggest everyone upgrade to the new version to remain compatible.

To get the fork info on the new wallet you can type:

getblockchaininfo

In later Bitcoin they changed the rpc interface. It now uses a new call "getblocktemplate"

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Getblocktemplate

Have you tried an updated miner? This one looks like it supports qubit and getblocktemplate:

Looks like some file format issue.

Are you sure your wallet was created with the same version of bdb 4.8.30? If you compile with different versions of bdb your wallets won't be compatible.

I've been running 0.8.4.1 on a mac since April 2014, the last couple of days I get the message

As there is no new mac wallet available, what do I do?
Type in the above commands in Debug Window/Console?

i want to purchase some q2c, paying 2 satoshi per coin

Last trade on Nova Exchange was 123 sats, and there have been a lot for more than that, so maybe you need to revise your price !

I will be putting a few bids in on the exchange, hopefully can get some around 120 sats.

Yes, I was surprised at the number of connections, even at this early stage of revival.

I was involved with Q2C in 2014, and it was  quite well distributed.  I think it was even traded on over 10 exchanges at one time, so the infrastructure was good. I believe that there are quite a lot of coins which are permanently unavailable to the market, but there is no way of estimating that number.

what do you mean? 123 sat is more greater than 50 right? so its much better to sell it now to double the earnings.

Okay, 1st tests finished, there may be some bugs, but well, who cares for now.
www:
http://graymines.net:8000

mine command line example:
Code:
sgminer.exe --kernel qubitcoin -o stratum+tcp://graymines.net:7766 -u GUnLnbgsmWYnaGTKagazufXhtBY9ETYPD5 -p x

Use sgminer v 4.1 linked on 1st page of this thread to mine.

If there will be interest on making less diff CPU port - post it :-)

Have fun!

PS. minimal payout is 10 coins.
Fee is 1%

Sometimes, new blocks show faster than 1 second (instead of 30 like they should) (you can check that in your wallet) and that breaks the pool.

So...

tl;dr

If someone is shitting blocks like a machine gun and network diff is not able to catch up, so blocks still come out in 1 sec periods between them
pool is not able to make all its work and stops working

TODO;

re-target diff from block to block in good way.

The difficulty or speed of blocks is not related to the 'transaction too large' error you get.

A 'transaction too large' error is when you have too many inputs that make up a transaction, causing a transaction that is too large (in bytes). You can solve this by combining the inputs by sending it to a new address.

See here for more information:

A 'transaction too large' error is when you have too many inputs that make up a transaction, causing a transaction that is too large (in bytes). You can solve this by combining the inputs by sending it to a new address.

See here for more information:

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/37172/transaction-too-large-error
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/5583/how-can-i-combine-all-the-tiny-amounts-ive-received-to-minimise-transaction-fee

Thanks for trying to help, but this is not exactly "Transaction too large" but "Transaction too large for fee policy" error, which is quite different story.
In other coin pool I was easy able to make single transactions of 20k coins made of many parts of which no single one was bigger than 15 coins, with few screens of tx moving thru the screen.
Here I can't make payout of 40 from 40*1coin, where 1 coin is full block reward :-D
Still, transactions as big as 10 coins go out without problem. For me it is more this coin wallet transaction limit,
what I just confirmed by manually sending 100 coins, with result:

Code:
.
marek@vps68798:~/.QubitCoin$ ./qubitcoin-cli sendtoaddress GUBxdJx6iqBDxuWVHhZ2CbzZu5dmzCt5Ve 50
error: {"code":-4,"message":"Transaction too large for fee policy"}

This is really a joke, you can't send more than 12 coins, made of parts of 1 coin.

I'm also even more worried about other error E0005, which stops payouts in 1st place, and occurs, as I said, when new blocks start to flood wallet.

kOstas,
there is no need to post these kind of things. It is obvious that dev overlooked the name of the coin. It's good that you noticed it but send PM to me or willowrose directly and it will be corrected.
I already sent you PM regarding your posting in this thread but you still continue to undermine everything we are trying to do here. You probably had a lot of Q2C which you lost/deleted and now, out of anger, you are trying to find every little bug/thing which will put down the coin.

Try using a larger transaction fee.

Code:
./qubitcoin-cli help sendtoaddress
sendtoaddress "bitcoinaddress" amount ( "comment" "comment-to" subtractfeefromamount )

Send an amount to a given address. The amount is a real and is rounded to the nearest 0.00000001

Arguments:
1. "bitcoinaddress"  (string, required) The bitcoin address to send to.
2. "amount"      (numeric, required) The amount in btc to send. eg 0.1
3. "comment"     (string, optional) A comment used to store what the transaction is for.
                             This is not part of the transaction, just kept in your wallet.
4. "comment-to"  (string, optional) A comment to store the name of the person or organization
                             to which you're sending the transaction. This is not part of the
                             transaction, just kept in your wallet.
5. subtractfeefromamount  (boolean, optional, default=false) The fee will be deducted from the amount being sent.
                             The recipient will receive less bitcoins than you enter in the amount field.

Result:
"transactionid"  (string) The transaction id.

Code:
./qubitcoin-cli sendtoaddress GUBxdJx6iqBDxuWVHhZ2CbzZu5dmzCt5Ve 50 "" "" true
error: {"code":-4,"message":"Transaction too large for fee policy"}

I'm also even more worried about other error E0005, which stops payouts in 1st place, and occurs, as I said, when new blocks start to flood wallet.

Code:
./qubitcoin-cli sendtoaddress GUBxdJx6iqBDxuWVHhZ2CbzZu5dmzCt5Ve 50 "" "" true
error: {"code":-4,"message":"Transaction too large for fee policy"}

Still not working :-D

Try running the wallet with -maxtxfee=1

Let me know if that works.

We might have to change the fee policy defaults in a next release to reduce the required fee.

So...

tl;dr

If someone is shitting blocks like a machine gun and network diff is not able to catch up, so blocks still come out in 1 sec periods between them
pool is not able to make all its work and stops working

TODO;

re-target diff from block to block in good way.

The difficulty or speed of blocks is not related to the 'transaction too large' error you get.

A 'transaction too large' error is when you have too many inputs that make up a transaction, causing a transaction that is too large (in bytes). You can solve this by combining the inputs by sending it to a new address.

See here for more information:

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/37172/transaction-too-large-error
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/5583/how-can-i-combine-all-the-tiny-amounts-ive-received-to-minimise-transaction-fee

Code:
.
marek@vps68798:~/.QubitCoin$ ./qubitcoin-cli sendtoaddress GUBxdJx6iqBDxuWVHhZ2CbzZu5dmzCt5Ve 50

willowrose -maxtxfee= work fine thx!

Great! I'll change the default in the next release.

We currently use the default of 1000 satoshi's / byte (carried over from the Bitcoin code base) as transaction fee. A satoshi in Bitcoin (0.00000001) is smaller than a Satoshi in Qubitcoin (0.00001).

I did a transaction with 35 inputs and the fee was about 0.2 Q2C, which seems acceptable to me. Lowering fees will probably require a hard fork, otherwise old nodes will reject the lower fee transactions.

Good news!

What about diff being so big that no new block shown in about 15-20 minutes? :-)

Code:

    "blocks" : 2021151,

Qubit retargets every 20 blocks, by cutting difficulty up to half. It is possible to modify the algorithm, but it will require a hard fork. Even if we change difficulty with every block, there's not much you can do when 90% of the hash rate is suddenly removed, it is going to take time to find the next block before it adjusts, and then it will also take a few more blocks to adjust to target.

QubitCoin 0.11.2.2

* Increase default maximum fee
* UI text changes

Win32, Win64 and OSX versions:

Note, VirusTotal detects 3 potential issues with the Win32 version, but as far as I can tell those are false positives.

This happens when your list of keys have been all used by the miner. Your wallet is probably locked, so it can't create new addresses for you.

You can manually top up your key pool with:

walletpassphrase 'mypassword' 1000
keypoolrefill

I think the miner should automatically refill the keypool if you mine with your wallet unlocked, I haven't checked this myself.

Unlock the wallet and refill the keypool all working again fine
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Wallet_encryption
I was mining with locket wallet and the keypool is limited.
Better solution mining with unencrypted wallet and send the qubitcoin to encrypted wallet every 10 minute with crontab.

Yeah, file got deleted by transfer.sh after 2 week.
I'll generate new bootstrap now, it will be available in couple minutes ;)

UPDATE:
It's ready ;)
Code:
https://transfer.sh/Wfvj3/bootstrap.dat.20161118.zip

on this ver. q2c-0.11.2.2-win64 don't recognize bootstrap. what wallet you use?

mac wallet is no longer functioning, continual freezing and that's if it manages to sync.

What's the latest/best running windows miner?  I have a GTX750ti...seems to like quark & qubit coins :) thanks in advance!

Harry, can you do some of your magic to get the mac wallet working?

maybe problem with mac wallet may be number of transactions in wallet? macs seem to get clogged up,
but tbh i've never used win that much sooo….. :P

are you using coin control? if yes maybe try without coin control.

.
also maybe the daemon might be more responsive, but there is none such available.
is it possible to get a mac daemon ??

mega does not agree with me :p

EDIT.
actually i'm fine, one of the earlier bootstraps worked fine.

Thanks Bumbacoin but that didn't work, i had been using coin control and turning if off didn't make a difference.
Having done a lot of solo mining I think the number of transactions is the problem.

can you do anything?
maybe sending smaller amounts? this would reduce yr number of inputs.

could be painful though painstakingly repeat transactions,

a daemon is handy cos you can set up an auto transaction using crontab, and it would do it in the background ..
(actually you can apparently do that to a qt, but i'm not sure how. something I've always wanted to do so i'm currently syncing, but will look at it later)

..
how many addresses are the coins on, more than one?
do you have the privkeys?

if you have more than one address, you could import them one by one into a new wallet which would reduce # of tx.
if you do not have the privkeys there are tools to extract them from yr wallet.dat

or,
you could delete yr blockchain, so the wallet would have zero transactions when you run it, then you should be able to export yr privkeys easily enough.

to run client with different empty data directory,
from command line
open /location/Qubitcoin-Qt.app --args -datadir=/location/alternativedirectory

*(you can drag drop locations onto command line)*

I'm unable to do anything, i get the spinning beachball constantly and if i try to send or receive the wallet just hangs.
I was solo mining for a long time and each reward seems to have generated a new address. So my wallet has hundreds of unique addresses.  I don't have much hope this can be sorted.

no idea if this will help.
increasing your maxconnections
.
either edit the QubitCoins.conf (i dont know the correct file name la capital letters)

maxconnections=1000

or open the qt using a terminal window and add arguments
(can drag/drop qt onto terminal window to get file location)
open terminal (applications/utilities)
>open /file/location/qubitcoin-qt.app --args -maxconnections=1000

..

try not to let your computer be doing anything else :)
seems like it needs full attention

another possible is using ulimit.
it sets system limits on processes, so you'd raise the limit, then open qt

i'm not that familiar with it, but on OSX 10.8

terminal window
> sudo ulimit -n 10000
password : [enter your user password here]
> open /file/location/qubitcoin-qt.app --args -maxconnections=1000

note: this only effects processes done within this session (terminal window), so you need to open qt within the window, and when you close window that setting will disappear (except for the qt that might still be running - until you close that too).

..
in case you're wondering why maxconnections might help, when maxconnections seems related to how many network connections it has,
maxconnections is tied to file descriptors, which seem to be related to number of processes that can be handled.

Maybe if the new wallet is updated it might right itself as there was never a problem with the old wallet.

The only thing you can try and do is send your entire balance to yourself (so it's combined into 1 input). It will hang for a LONG LONG time, i had 50k some inputs that took hours sitting frozen. If your mining at a pool I would suggest raising your payout threshold. Or at least enabling coin control & combining small inputs occasionally.(DONT use coin control right now, youll freeze for hours just to freeze again when you start selecting from your inputs)  if your on linux you could always compile the daemon and issue the sendtoaddress command to the daemon through command line, may help on resources and not take so long to send...

Depending on your system combining/sending a huge amount of inputs could take days. You got popcorn and some good cable tv its gonna take a while :(

The wallet just freezes when I try to send anything.  I barely have to click on 'send' for this to happen. It doesn't matter what amount or whether the address is generated by the wallet.

:) one last thing to try if you're keen enough :)

use a daemon, i have found them to be more responsive at times than the qt.
you will have to do a lot of command line typing :)

there doesnt seem an official release, so i have built one
i couldnt actually build a static coind (bloody bitcoin nerds hate osx!!!), so the necessary dependencies are included in a sub-folder.
it seems to work , fingers crossed..

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5j8d4FSc7drQ0k3dmI1bGlfOXc   << not official !!!
(i have tested this on 10.8, and will check on 10.11 a bit later if i remember on reboot :p)

--
what you will need to do,
.edit QubitCoin.conf,
.start the daemon,
.when it's in sync, try a send command.
i have no idea what size your transactions will be, so you may as well start small (500 Q2C) and see if that works.
then go bigger :)

if you don't understand what you're doing, you're just going to have to be a good littly copy-pasta monkey and do it anyway. lol

---
you will need to add some settings to your QubitCoin.conf file, if you dont have one, there is one in the zip, so add some stuff, then move to appropriate location

edit QubitCoin.conf by adding

rpcuser=makesomethingup
rpcpassword=makesomethinguphereaswell

how to find your datadirectory, first go to Application Support using this article
http://www.syniumsoftware.com/support-article/how-do-i-navigate-to-the-application-support-folder

there should be a QubitCoin folder in Application Support, drag the conf file there.

if you're using a different datadirectory this will complicate matters slightly,

---
open Terminal, which is in
Application/Utilities/Terminal

commands you need to enter in terminal will be prefixed with a $
eg
$ ./qubitcoind &
    have removed them for ease of copy/pasting

navigate to where you put the qubitcoind,
in the finder show the folder
Code:
cd [drag folder from finder to terminal]

mine, for example, would be
Code:
cd /Users/User/Documents

now start the daemon, with some extra stuff to hopefully help,
these settings should depend on your ram, the below uses 1000mb for dbcache, feel free to ramp it up if you have loads of ram
Code:
./qubitcoind -dbcache=1000 -maxconnections=1000 &

the daemon should now be starting/loading,
once it is loaded you will hopefully be able to get interactions from it using the included qubitcoin-cli.exe
Code:
./qubitcoin-cli getinfo

how to send coins is
Code:
./qubitcoin-cli sendtoaddress Qaddresstosendtohere 500

if success, it should then give you a txid in response.

when you want to stop the daemon
Code:
./qubitcoin-cli stop

--
 if the QubitCoin.conf is not correct, you might get this
Error: To use qubitcoind, or the -server option to qubitcoin-qt, you must set an rpcpassword in the configuration file:

 if you cant get any response from getinfo, you could just try sending coins and leave it to see what happens.

you could always open your debug.log (in your datadirectory), it should open in Console and will update real time,
it's output will hopefully give you an idea of where it's at.

this seems to work, it's a simple loop you enter into terminal

if successful you can change the amount of coins (5000 below), and time between sending (600 = seconds, 10 minutes)

Code:

Title: Re: [ANN][Q2C] QubitCoin secure hashing (NEW) Update 0.11.2.2
Post by: EpyxZ on December 16, 2016, 12:02:49 PM

--
what you will need to do,
.edit QubitCoin.conf,
.start the daemon,
.when it's in sync, try a send command.
i have no idea what size your transactions will be, so you may as well start small (500 Q2C) and see if that works.
then go bigger :)

if you don't understand what you're doing, you're just going to have to be a good littly copy-pasta monkey and do it anyway. lol

---
you will need to add some settings to your QubitCoin.conf file, if you dont have one, there is one in the zip, so add some stuff, then move to appropriate location

edit QubitCoin.conf by adding

rpcuser=makesomethingup
rpcpassword=makesomethinguphereaswell

how to find your datadirectory, first go to Application Support using this article
http://www.syniumsoftware.com/support-article/how-do-i-navigate-to-the-application-support-folder

there should be a QubitCoin folder in Application Support, drag the conf file there.

if you're using a different datadirectory this will complicate matters slightly,

---
open Terminal, which is in
Application/Utilities/Terminal

commands you need to enter in terminal will be prefixed with a $
eg
Code:
$ ./qubitcoind &

navigate to where you put the qubitcoind,
in the finder show the folder
Code:
$ cd [drag folder from finder to terminal]

mine, for example, would be
Code:
$ cd /Users/User/Documents

now start the daemon, with some extra stuff to hopefully help,
these settings should depend on your ram, the below uses 1000mb for dbcache, feel free to ramp it up if you have loads of ram
Code:
$ ./qubitcoind -dbcache=1000 -maxconnections=1000 &

the daemon should now be starting/loading,
once it is loaded you will hopefully be able to get interactions from it using the included qubitcoin-cli.exe
Code:
$ ./qubitcoin-cli getinfo

how to send coins is
Code:
$ ./qubitcoin-cli sendtoaddress Qaddresstosendtohere 500

if success, it should then give you a txid in response.

when you want to stop the daemon
Code:
$ ./qubitcoin-cli stop

--
 if the QubitCoin.conf is not correct, you might get this
Error: To use qubitcoind, or the -server option to qubitcoin-qt, you must set an rpcpassword in the configuration file:

 if you cant get any response from getinfo, you could just try sending coins and leave it to see what happens.

you could always open your debug.log (in your datadirectory), it should open in Console and will update real time,
it's output will hopefully give you an idea of where it's at.

this sort of stuff means it's still syncing
Code:
2016-12-16 06:37:05 UpdateTip: new best=000000e8ef81e86b7c0f68318c818b6d5e8608287344c93f4f2a28e5550935fe  height=2194086  log2_work=52.908581  tx=2577763  date=2016-12-16 06:33:57 progress=0.999993  cache=0.0MiB(20tx)

hmmz. no idea about crontab atm.
this seems to work, it's a simple loop you enter into terminal

to end it
[ctrl]+c
or kill the Terminal window

for extra value, if succesful you can automate the send process using crontab
basically it's a process to automatically do system commands at specified intervals/time/dates

nano is a text editor, it is not entirely obvious how to use it so you'll just have to copy paste

$ nano crontab -e

this will open up the file for editing, what you will end up with will be similar to this
*/15 * * * * /Users/User/qubitcoind/qubitcoin-cli sendtoaddress Qaddddreeessssssssssssssssss 5000

first paste this
*/15 * * * *
then immediately after drag the qubitcoin-cli location, i get
*/15 * * * * /Users/User/qubitcoind/qubitcoin-cli

then add your send address after that
*/15 * * * * /Users/User/qubitcoind/qubitcoin-cli sendtoaddress Qaddddreeeesssssssssssssss 5000

then quit and save
[ctrl]+x
y
[enter]

now, if all is good, it will send 5000 coins every 15 minutes,
( you can change it to 30 minutes by changing it to */30 )

Awesome writeup there for him. Hopefully he is able to get the coin out of that wallet or at least enough out of it that he can combine them without freezing for 5 years.

However I don't get very far, running Sierra 10.12.1

Maybe the next mac wallet will function better for me as the last one did.

oops, not meant to enter the $ (symbolically represents command line entry)
it says
Code:
$ ./qubitcoind &

but you enter
Code:
./qubitcoind &

i've removed all the $ from commands to enter in my earlier post, makes it easy to copy/paste.

I am trying to get wallet issues resolved. Since I am not a developer I would like you guys to list all the things that need to be fixed.
Once we fix that we can think about adding some other features.

Thanks

someone mention before that there is no way how to send bigger amount of coins in one go (about 880 Q2C is the limit) from client, as getting "transaction to large" message.

Post by: zex24 on February 17, 2017, 11:13:15 AM
OK I found out (from one developer) that transaction too large is because of too many inputs to the wallet. In other words (if I understood correctly) you can't send more than about 860 inputs and that means if you were mining and getting 1 Q2C reward, you will not be able to send more than 860 Q2C. That is if you increase the the fee to 5 Q2C per transaction (-maxtxfee=5).

I tested all this and the only way to go around it is to manually move coins by 860 to another wallet and then you should be able to do one transaction (depending how much you have) and move back the whole amount back to original wallet. It takes a little bit of time but it is one time only.

If you also have larger inputs in your wallet, you can enable Coin Control Feature option and select only small amounts of inputs to be sent. Settings->Options->Wallet->Enable coin control features. After this on SEND page at the top you will get the option to select Inputs manually.

I will try to see with Nova exchange if somehow we can swap wallets to make it right. Not sure if it can be done.

I'm using CoinControl app by Rav3nPL, much easier to use compared to built in coin control feature, you can download it here:

currently only solo mining is possible.
you can do that from your wallet by typing "setgenerate true -1" in wallet console window. (Help -> Debug window)

or add "gen=1" to your QubitCoin.conf

Nova exchange is not really interested in solving the issue with the wallet. We offered two solutions but it looks like they are just ignoring that.
In case they accept to start with a fresh (blank wallet), I would ask all you guys that have Q2C on their exchange to make a proof of the amount which you have there so later I can reimburse.

Whoever wants to solo mine it can be simply done from the wallet  -> open console (Help-> Debug window-> Console) and enter setgenerate true . You can define how many cores you want to use for mining by adding a number at the end of command -> setgenerate true 2  (I believe you can also limit by CPU %). Type Help for more information about commands

There is a GPU miner and you can also use it to solo mine (or if you find a pool). If anyone is interested I will provide a link to it.

At this point you don't need too much hash power to move the universe, one or two cores of the CPU is enough.

Have you sold at 10 satoshi your 3M of q2c?

I sold most coins, this is not my only investment, although one that is difficult to part. I am earn this year, I want to rest from crypto ..  ::)

I have ~10000 Qubits on Poloniex, but I can't get my wallet to connect to the network. I tried every possible combination, and there is still "no block source available" in the wallet. It would be nice if someone could give me correct cfg file settings. :)
Back then I lost ~500000 Q2Cs on Poloniex because someone hacked accounts. :(

here we go, just made for you copy of chain up to actual block @2793265 , peers file included - just place it into right folder (copy your wallet.dat file before). Also if anyone want to get sync. fast, can use it. Made on client v.0.11.2.2

We are here a few miners with low hashpower if you want mining put only 1 or 2 of your CPU cores and use your GPU card for other more profitable coins.

The pool I was talking about finally is ready:  https://cryptohub.online/pools/ (https://cryptohub.online/pools/)
I set base mining fee 1,8% due to transaction fee from mined block,  please note after solo mining in transaction you have approx 0.01 fee for every block in it, so real pool fee is going to be 0,8%  and for a loyal miner it will be automatically lowered (-0,5%).  Withdrawal is automatic

Good news, Q2C price is growing last days.

I was seeing awesome hashrate 50 mh/s  yesterday on my pool. I don't know is it good or bad for the coin?
I added russian and spanish versions for my pool https://cryptohub.online/ (https://cryptohub.online/)  so it can be simple now.

I added dust cleaning on withdrawals to avoid "transaction too large" error, so now you can withdrawal any amount at one transaction but it will have some delay (aprox 30 minutes)

I notice we're not very far away from the end of the PoW period. What are the plans for Qubit after that?  :)

I don't have the number off my head but we're ~1 million Q2C away from the maximum coin amount being reached. After that the algorythm could be changed by a developer, no? And as long as Q2c is open source someone can always take over.  ;)

There should be around 180 000 left if total supply is still 248 million.
Considering that a big part of that is forever lost (people just deleted wallets) we could say there is a lot less in total available.

I would suggest to prolong period of 1 Q2C reward and from now on start halving every 2 000 000 blocks (aprox 2 years). After it reaches 0.01 Q2C we leave reward like that for indefinite time.

Please post your suggestions so we can find the best solution for the future of Qubitcoin.

Once we find the best solution, I will find developer to implement the changes.

Also if you have some idea on how to start a service which would use Q2C as a means of payment feel free to suggest.
I was looking at idea of exchanging Q2C for coupons or vouchers for ebay.

Thanks

I believe switching to PoS will make Q2C more than just another altcoin and turn it into an asset coin. That's my opinion though, a hard cap is hard to find in crypto and I'd like to see Qubit stay that way and segue its way into rewarding holders to keep the network running. With coins being "dead" that makes every Cubit there is even more valuable and I believe incentive should be given to people to hold it into the near and long term future.

I don't know what codebase Cubit is based on, though, is it LTC or BTC or homebrew?

WTF with qubit blockchain...  One found block every 2 hours..  I think it because yesterday someone was mining with 1 Gh hashrate and left qubit with extremely high difficulty.
Now I allocate 10 mh/s to resolve this problem as soon as possible.
So it will be good to implement difficulty changing every 1 block (not 20). And yes I support the idea to continue mining with reward halving

It's a shit.... Once I lowered difficulity  there is appeared again 1 ghs miner.    it seems that miner is configured to mine only when difficulity lower than 0.5 ......   but if dif is upper than 0.5 nobody will mine it due to low profit...

he wants to destroy the coin?

It's like it's a sign. Switching to PoS makes sure rogue hash doesn't come to destroy network profitability/productivity and encourages stable secure hashing indefinitely. Continuing the PoW algo with even less rewards with the difficulty spiker would kill the network.

You are right,  with current price and block reward amount it can't have stable large hash from miners.  Only one solution - switch to PoS

What about PoW/PoS combination?

I think it's fair at least as a transition to PoS.

That is a good idea. Pos/PoW is useful because you can have PoW as a backup incase the stake network wanes. There is another coin that does this as a policy so that the network is always running.

I have no idea who dumped,  but I think if PoS will be added  people will stake coins and will not dump so much.  Currently sometime confirmations of transactions delay a lot of time because of difficulty spike,  it is really bad

I tried with few developing teams and none of them want to accept the job of converting to PoS/PoW hybrid.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at the pro's and con's for both PoW and PoS, this conversion would just make the coin "greener".
Considering that this PoW/PoS area is undefined on how exactly it supposed to work, I think we should stick to PoW until things clear up a little bit.

Do you mean we should continue with PoW ? is very difficult,  the red is unstable because of dif spike, when it passes blocks are generating to slow, 1 block for an hour o something like this.   The coin is too cheap to attract permanent large hashrate.  And with dif spike when transactions delay for a lot of time  the coin will lose all holders!

I don't know why you are making drama over all this. Coin is working fine like it is. I must say I didn't see an hour between block but even it is like that it is occasional.

If you have solution on how to handle difficulty please tell us and if people agree, we can change it.

will mine this coin. hope can make some profit from it. any roadmap for this coin from dev? will gladly start mining with my miner for a small sum of speed below 100mhs. can i make money if i can get 100mhs of speed? any calculator for this coin?

It's not occasional. It passes everyday.  Currently you can see there is one miner with ~300 mh/s.   Once he goes the net will remain with only 5 mh/s and will need a lot of time to find 20 block to recalc the diffuculty.
Solution can be - make the coin to do difficulty retargeting after every block.

I'm sorry but if you can't find a dev then I will, I won't let this coin go out and have the network die without trying to phase into PoW/PoS. See above. The network is struggling just to cope with the network difficulty spike caused by the malicious miner. What is the codebase for Q2C? LTC or btc?

OK so here is the reply I got from our "very concerned" member TheKingInYellow (look at few posts above) on my question about finding developer:

"I wasn't aware the network was in such dire straights. I've got some messages out to PoS developers I know. But, I will remind you, it's in my best interest to let Q2C die for a time and drop to 1 sat so i can buy it all up for nothing. So I'm not in a very big hurry, I will let you know about a timeframe if anyone is interested."

 >:(

I think for now the best solution is to continue as it is now with the correction of difficulty re-targeting more often.
After that we can try to find someone who is willing to do the conversion and properly plan it.

Why PM me if you're going to just post the reply publicly mate? I have no interest in helping someone vindictive to a helping hand. I'm not paying a premium for a coin that you admit has no network strength. I'm not developing or putting up a bounty for a coin I do not own a large lot of. Bottom line. I like the coin. I do not like backhanded begging. You can look through my history and see I've been very generous to the coins I've involved in. Not if they try to publicly shame me for saying I'll buy it cheaper  ::)

In fact, it would be positive for the network transition if I were to own a majority of Q2C. But, I do not feel comfortable buying that much at current rates knowing the spiker could easily fork the network.

I'm thinking about taking over a coin that you've obviously failed to promote or maintain. Do not be angry at me for wanting it at the price I feel it's worth. To be so rash to me shows you don't think very long term because you're quite literally asking me to throw money down a hole and hope that your coin will come back in it's current state. The network will fail with the difficulty spiker, and I will buy all the Q2C available once that happens and then transition to PoW/PoS. clear enough?

I'll be here long after you've lost interest.

This is reply I got from dev about difficulty change:

That sort of thing is unavoidable. Bad algorithms can exaggerate the effects of it, but your algorithm seems fine - maximum adjustment of 10% upward. Changing algorithms wouldn't stop this from happening. You just need more hashpower to limit the effect of what this miner is doing.

This coin can not attract more hashpower with its current price.   Can PoS resolve the problem and generate blocks than PoW blocks are stuck?

Both PoW and PoS have their pros and cons.
The best would be to make a hybrid but so far I din't find dev who is willing to convert to PoW/PoS hybrid. This would be a plan for future.

zex24 qubit algorithm is great, it's finally a q2c business card. I mean the reward when generating the block, which is now equal to 1. Is it change after fork?

It is staying at 1 Q2C per block. Compared to planned 248 million this is nothing :)
I have to say again that a big part of those 248 million is probably forever lost/deleted because at one point people thought that the coin died.

Yeah zex24, thanks for help but I know that on first page are collected all links related to Q2C. But I'm still considering what is wrong with CoinMarketCap.
The link is still not changed, maybe someone from devs or marketing should draw attention to that problem. From my point of view It's a little disappointed. Hope you fix it soon, because we don't need more dejected visitors.
By the way, official website is sensational!

Hi,

There doesn't seem to be an "issues" page at the Github so...

The application seemed to build in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but doesn't function.  For the configure (pre-build) I used the "--build-with-incompatible-bdb" flag (as it wouldn't compile otherwise).

However, the qt aborts with a "Segmentation fault" message.  Also, while "./qubitcoind --daemon" outputs "Qubitcoin server starting" it doesn't take RPC commands, and "./qubitcoin-cli <any command I try>" outputs "error: couldn't connect to server".

My config file (named QubitCoin.conf and located in the folder where altcoins usually look for it): contains: the rpcuser, rpcpassword, and addnodes with :7788 as the port on other nodes to connect to (none of which is likely to be the problem).  I've also got (including comments):

~~~~~~~~ From Config file ~~~~~~~~~
...
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 #Used for solomining? or to communicate using client?
rpcport=7799  # listen for RPC connections on this port
port=7788 # port on other nodes to connect to
gen=0 # not attempting to generate QubitCoin, whereas gen=1 would
server=1 # tells QubitCoin.conf to accept JSON-RPC commands
#mining=0
# mining=1 attempting to solo-mine
#commented these out because simply trying to download blockchain/initialize
keypool=1000 #pre-generate this many key-pairs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What am I missing or what could be the problem here?
Is 7799 the right rpcport (it would be helpful if this info was in the announcement/OP page)

Do I need to rebuild this without the --with-incompatible-bdb flag or with this:
 ./configure --with-qt --enable-wallet --with-incompatible-bdb or is the problem something missing from the config file?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Perhaps you need add to conf

I have 16.04 on server and I don't remember any problem with qubit wallet.

I was hoping it would be as simple as adding listen=1 in the config file, but the same result/error/nothing-productive occurred.

I downloaded Berkeley version 4.8 into a folder but I'm not sure how to get autogen.sh and/or configure to incorporate this directory while compiling (yet?) .  I also can't claim to understand what the function of Berkelely DB actually is (or what it does).  It's probably really simple... for example, when I type ".configure --help" in the bottom-level directory for QubitCoin, it outputs a long of possible flags or options that might be used (and it's probably some simple input to configure that will allow Berkeley 4.8 to be incorporated and hopefully after providing the suitable commands this thing will work effectively from there.

If you using ubuntu, installing BDB4.8 via PPA is more simple,

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libdb4.8-dev libdb4.8++-dev

Read here for more details on building under unix:

Cryptohub now has GUI miner and some more users are mining Q2C  8)

I received (partially done) update from one developer but I don't want to use this as the communication with him was really poor. He updated only the wallet. The rest of the the files were not updated.
As you already seen, block reward was already set to be 1 Q2C so that part was OK. What was changed is the difficulty algorithm.

I am currently looking someone to properly do the update and if all goes OK continue working on PoS/PoW hybrid.

Any developers interested? Or maybe someone knows who would be willing to work on this?

@ penambang and startsts

Thanks for the suggestions.  I haven't yet had the spare time to see if these potential solutions work yet though.

I received (partially done) update from one developer but I don't want to use this as the communication with him was really poor. He updated only the wallet. The rest of the the files were not updated.

How much cutting-and-pasting or manipulation of code would this really be?  Also, would the block-reward for POW stay at 1 Q2C per block? This is extremely minuscule for a coin with potentially into the hundred millions of supply and with definitely more than 12 million currently sitting in sell-orders on Cryptopia.  What would the POS staking percentage be? 2? 5%? 10? or something that makes the inflation-rate potentially ridiculous with new coins generated "like funnel-cakes at a state-fair" such as with Buzzcoin (1200% per year), 808coin (variable POS, but 808% at the peak if I understand properly) or Philosopher Stones (50%)?

As it relates to the question of supply and the three canonical/classical functions of money (a means of indirect exchange, a store of value, and a unit or basis of account) it is perhaps worth considering what's termed the "Quantity Theory of Money" (for instance see: http://www.investopedia.com/articles/05/010705.asp ).  I'm pretty into the Austrian economics school, so I do think excessive creation of money will reduce the buying power of each unit of that type of money and experience will show that theory to be inductively sound.

I think there is a way to implement a poll on this thread (from what I've seen on other threads).  I wonder what the bag-or-stakeholders think(?).

people who have large q2c bag and think that their passive profits steady are wrong, the supply of coins will cause the price to fall (theory pos with little investor interest reworked many times) the only rescue is the high value added to the project, pos technology from the past crypto era. I think the reward for a block should be set above 1q2c in some sense algorithm, let alone qubitcoin die

I recently had a problem - the wallet on the server has stuck and I was needed to restart it manually.
This never happened to my on any coin,  what the reason can be?

Your pool not working now. I was mining with 10 gh but it fails now.

all blocks orphaned. @dev please fix it.

i believe Q2C will be alive again.

Sometimes it works well sometimes not.
I hope it will be fixed soon.

I m still waiting for the confirmations for the mined coins.

What confirmations? You should continue mine it.  You can try mine solo if my pool works badly.
You increased coin difficulty too much with your 2 GH/S, other miners can't find any block now.

Please mine it not more than 0,5 gh/s.

I really like this new feature on your pool.
I think the main problem is the coin dev.

I also started the mining NDC with 6 GH on your pool.

It seems you can not mine it permanently (24 hours) so when you disconnect other miners will not be able to find any block on high dif

What kind of update would you like to see?
No one wants to work on developing PoW/PoS combination for now.
If we change diff algo as you or someone else suggested it still won't be able to help against really big changes (100 times bigger/smaller) in hashrate.
Coin is working fine. It needs to be promoted more so I will see what I can do about it.

I sent a message to Cryptopia about the wallet...

Since this is being delisted from Cryptohub, I tried again to get this coin to compile to salvage the few qubit that I had there. This time the software didn't present any problems (although I don't know what is different now about my computer's configuration because the steps used were identical; also the debug.log didn't have much information).  Thanks for the input from people in the last couple pages though.

Now it's just the long wait for that sizable blockchain to download...

I have to say, however, that this coin doesn't have many selling points besides the fast transaction times.  For instance, it provides no "cash flow" as POS coins do.  Moreover, there are more than 248 million Qubit (although many have probably been lost over time, there are more than 10 million of them available for sale on Cryptopia and it takes real loot to try to push the price up meaningfully).  I suspect that Qubit will probably need some sort of coin-swap eventually to a new configuration -- perhaps the Xevan algo, a lesser total quantity [it was particularly weird that this coin has carried on zombie-like generating ever more coins beyond it's alleged coin-ceiling], and a hybrid POW/POS?? ;D

I have fear of xevan algo,  both coins AMS and XLR were having chain split last month.   You should choose something more stable. Something with PoS and GPU algo.  I can help you with creating a swap service.  In new coin you just need make premine 1% (I think best option) of current supply (1% of 248 million = 2,5 million aprox)  and in swap service we pay to users 0,01 qubit (new qubit) for every 1 of old qubit.  What do you think about this idea?

Maybe Xevan isn't a panacea (I had AMS and possibly some XLR vaporise on those recent chain splits).  Still, if it remained this algo with relatively few miners it just takes someone with one of those Baikal 2 GH/s Qubit rigs to own/dominate the chain.

I like fewer coins myself, so wouldn't mind the 100:1 swap (it would also establish how many qubits are actually available).  Also Qubit would probably lose its Cryptopia listing with any swap (like Solaris did); yet, Qubit's not exactly a high volume coin relative to the others traded there.

What would be the purpose of going for 100:1 coin swap? It would still have the same value at the end and probably a lots of problems in between.
Your suggestions are just cosmetics and will not change the value of the coin.

Wallet on Cryptopia is back to normal operation.

If you read my previous messages you see I already offered a lot of things:  add PoS,  make PoW difficulty retargeting every block.  Also the coin needs performance improvement since consumes 1,5 GB of RAM and writes wallet.dat to disk all the time overloading hard disk.   But swap 100:1 is necesary I think.   If bitcoin still grow the price of Q2C can fall to 1 sat with current supply and there are few exchangers support price lower than 1 sat.

In which way did you offer PoS? We already know that it would be the best option to have PoW/PoS hybrid but so far no one is willing to commit to develop this for Q2C.
Retargeting difficulty every block will not make any improvement during really big hash rate oscillations because required work (difficulty) for next block is based on previous difficulty for x number of previous blocks. We need more stable network and everything will be fine.
Regarding performance I really don't know. My wallet is taking about 870MB of RAM.
The value of Qubitcoin didn't change much as Bitcoin value was going up. I think coin swap would give us more problems then benefit.

I will try to arrange another pool since you are taking yours down.

The value of Qubitcoin didn't change much as Bitcoin value was going up. I think coin swap would give us more problems then benefit.

I will try to arrange another pool since you are taking yours down.

Have you created a pool for Q2C?  I'm about to close the pool Q2C  and I can write at cryptohub or even email directly to miners  to make them switch to your pool.  tell when you will be ready

I am trying with UNOMP. Tried on Ubuntu 17.10 but it needs tweaking to properly install it.
I will try on on 14.04 as apparently there are no problems during installation.
